A rare instance of a game looking better than I remember it looking
When people say “Input lag makes it more realistic”
every time a villain goes on their long winded monologue I'm always amazed that the main character doesn't just shoot them not even to stop the bad guys plan or anything but just to shut them up
I love how, as a joke, Oboe 100% hit the nail on the head about Garza's death. It's this big overly bombastic heroic death (effectiveness varies based on person) that quickly turns to just a numbered coffin pushed in the corner by an exhausted orderly. The hundred npc allies who died before that probably would have also had a heroic bombastic death, but they mean nothing to the main characters, it doesn't matter to us. We are the orderly in other people's story.
Say what you want, this game slaps so hard. The fight with Radec is a nightmare on anything past normal difficulty. I always cheased it with the flamethrower because it prevents him from teleporting and stunlocks him in a burning animation where you can knife him for huge dps. If you dont do it the fight itself can take something like 20 minutes on Elite difficulty.
You know where gameplay matters more than graphics? In Mercenaries 2 world in flames made by pandemic studios!
The thing I never understood is this game is set on Hellgan, yet the hellghasts still wear their special breathing masks. But the good guy faction can land on the planet and breathe fine without any special breathing aparatus
The Multiplayer was amazing. Also your sidearm is a Desert Eagle revolver, really cool.
Fun fact: the Killzone 2 servers have been semi revived by the community. There are 2 community servers!
Love this game. Play it everytime I visit my dad since he has the old PS3 in his living room. Yeah the controls kinda suck but what I love about it is the grittyness and WW2 inspirered aesthetic combined with the sci-fi. I love how the spaceships are just these weird flying freight ships that look nothing like conventional spaceships and that the ground combat is basically just contemporary warfare despite the sci-fi setting. The small arms could easily exist today.

Killzone 2 was the only game to give me motion sickness before VR games were a thing. The combination of low framerate, narrow FoV, horrific input delay, and constant screen wobble from walking, reloading and environmental effects made me put the game down for days at a time.

As a graduate of The Academy, I can personally confirm that those shantytowns were hovels of indecency that needed to be razed.
Super telling about how memorable and great the protagonists in this game are when you don't even remember that Templar was one of the main playable characters from Killzone 1 lmao.
the killzone series deserves far more recognition, its legendary.
Oboe better play Killzone 3 with the PS Move controls (the default controls when you load it up who thought this was a good idea???)

Thats actually a really cool loading screen gimmick. Give us holo cards to tilt and twist in more PS games. Namely card games but I'm not picky.
