Just an FYI, Steve. Blink local storage now allows you to view video clips on your cell phone. I'm grandfathered with Blink's free cloud storage, but helped a friend set up his Blink system and was surprised how fast his local storage clips opened remotely when we were out at Breakfast this week. My Blink system is three yrs old now and my cameras are placed in low activity areas as a supplement to my Protection One, hard-wired cameras and Alarm system. I'm still using the original Blink batteries. Their video quality is very good and I have a hard time seeing any meaningful difference in the 720P vs 1080P settings on my phone and on clips shared to my PC monitor. There only weak point for me was the night vision, but that was an easy fix by turning the night vision feature off and adding motion lights. Now I'm very pleased with their color night vision. The Blink set-up and app have been rock solid reliable and trouble-free (so much so that they are boring). Thanks for another fair and honest review. Keep up the good work.

Thanks Steve. I'm considering a system since a recent theft at my house. I've narrowed it down to battery powered, stand alone systems and these were my top 4. I'm leaning towards Eufy mostly because of the fact that it is truly stand alone with no subscription. Thanks for a clear concise review. I would like to see a little more about the Eufy base station.

Really great video. I'm just started looking for a security camera and your video was extremely useful. I thought the Eufy was the best before your summary. i thought that the audio was really clear, yes a bit tinny but clear which I thought was better for this type of camera. I didn't know that Amazon were behind Blink and Ring so I wouldn't be opting for them.
    Kind regards Paul (UK)

Hi Steve, I like the way Ring Time line moves so you can watch the playback, like in the video - 3:00 minutes mark.
I have a YI camera and every car lights that flashes on the wall makes the camera record, motion detected. NOT good
I like the EUFY cameras. Do you know if the motion detection comes on at every light flashing on the wall or for a outside camera. And does the time line playback work like the Ring camera.
Do these features work the same on the Cam 2c, Cam 2Pro, Cam 2cPro and the indoor C24.
    Thanks, Jim B

Great videos and I’ve subscribed. I am looking for a multi camera system (indoors and outdoors) that has battery/powered/Poe options and Wi-Fi or Ethernet. I’m looking for continuous recording and playback for 14 days retention and it needs to have reliable motion detection that doesn’t constantly go off when the wind rustles a leaf past the camera. Are you able to advise on what ecosystems out there you would recommend ? I liked the Eufy but then no continuous record options, the arlo ultra 2 seems a good options but expensive overall when add in subscriptions per camera and subscriptions for continuous recording. I’ve also considered UniFi with a dream machine pro but really would love to hear your opinion.

Steve, I am very impressed with your review. A quick question-your link for the eufy takes me to an Amazon listing showing 2 cameras-when I searched for one camera, I needed to buy a base station with it. Can this eufy tie into Apple’s HomeKit and I could get storage through iCloud without buying the base station? Do they sell just one camera, stand alone?

It was super informative and really helped me to narrow down my choices...Arlo does have a nice image but Eufy is good enough and not having to pay for cloud storage plus having the option to set up a NAS as well (so I can avoid using a third-party company's cloud storage in the first place) helped me opt for this one (or at least have it among my final candidates).

Thank you Steve for your demonstration of each camera's picture and sound.
I bought an Arlo surveillance camera. Just one. You plug it in to the wall.
    The video picture is great.
However, if you have it set up to pick up sound and motion.
It will run continually with extreme fuzz, static and crackling noises, that are so loud, you can't hear anything that the person was saying.
There are many complaints due to the loud background, static noise and the camera never stops. This gives you many videos with constant static. I've watched through them, hours of static. I could make out a man's voice in one of them, but you could buy clearly hear what he was saying and there was no video. It's extremely time consuming and annoying when there's noonr
I haven't heard anything about this defect bring taken care of in the Arlo surveillance cameras.
Mine worked very well when I first bought my camera, both sound and video were excellent.
Maybe, it's only like this for the cameras, that don't pay for the subscription.
If they fixed the Arlo surveillance cameras so they can pick up and record clear sound and clear video. It would be worth getting more cameras.
If they still have the loud static, it's only good for video. Don't turn on the sound or you'll have hours of static video to watch and not know if there is motion.
Maybe, the clear recording is one of the features they block if you don't pay for their subscription?

Hey Steve, I'm late to the party but I currently have the Arlo system and I'm searching for a replacement. For me, it's not working out to my satisfaction because 1) It takes to long to notify me of motion, and 2) opening up to see a live feed takes forever and sometimes I've even had to close the app and restart it to bring up the feed. I'm leaning towards Eufy as my choice for these reasons. Keep up the good work 👍

I’ve had blink for 3 years, they froze my system and completely made it offline because I had free storage. I’ll never purchase blink ever again for that reason. Also, Blink only allows a maximum of a 60 second video recording then shuts itself off. It also has a 3-5 second movement recognition delay before it even starts to record. That’s why it’s called Blink....it’s just a quick glimpse that’s all.

In my opinion the best home security camera a person can get is the google nest cam. I had originally started with arlo hd , the one where all a person needs is an internet connection but I found that the camera did not live up to its claims of long battery life, in the first week it did, then it went down dramatically and I had to constantly recharge the battery in order to get the picture quality that I desired so I decided that having 2 of these cameras would just not be worth it because I had to constantly recharge my unit to get the settings I wanted. So I decided a cordless security cam was only good for backup purposes, like when the power goes out but you have to always make sure the batteries are at full charge otherwise it doesn’t work properly. After about 10 days of looking the market over to make sure I got the best security cam for the money I decided to give google nest a go because what’s the sense of having a security cam that isn’t recording everything 24/7/365 ? Google nest offers a plan that does exactly that, records everything 24/7/365 so I decided to give google nest a shot and I’m so glad I did, they are simple to set them too! Every time something gets in front of their sensors it gets recorded, I’m one of those ppl that likes to know whatever triggered the sensor, even a leaf falling, I wouldn’t doubt it if google nest covers that too, I’m telling anyone reading this, do yourself a favor and use your arlo cam’s as a backup option then go out and buy google nest, because it’s a way way way way way way better security camera system. So simple to use and imo the cam’s are nicer. I bought the $129 cam on sale for $100 while also still having an arlo (I had 4 days left on my return period to return it after my initial purchase) and it took me less than 20 hrs using it to determine it was the cam for me, so I re-boxed the arlo and returned it the very next day. We went back around two weeks later and bought another $129 google nest cam (both are the indoor nest cam) and for me it’s the perfect home security sys for what we need. It supports my needs, another person might need 10 google nest cameras to run their desired system, but two was all I needed for my needs. Hey trust me family that reads this comment: google nest cam is where it’s at. Imo this camera gets a perfect 10 rating. Get one, you won’t regret it. Like I said previously If you want you can keep the arlo system as a backup for when the power goes out, other than that it’s junk (imo it is) cheers. Happy Nesting! Here’s NOTE 1: if you have 100 google nest camera’s a single $12 monthly cost for 24/7/365 recording covers all 100 cameras! That’s a deal that can’t be beat! NOTE 2: (These cameras are in the front windows of my dwelling, I have one in the living room (outside the window in this room is the front yard) , and one in a bedroom that faces the front yard (these are my needs, another persons needs are theirs! I placed my cams behind the shades of each window to capture all the action taking place in the front of my dwelling and it works perfect for what I need! I can’t stress this point enough, theses cameras are the best on the market, hurry go buy some!) 😊💯😊💯😊💯😊💯😊💯😊💯😊💯😊💯😊💯😊💯😊💯

Thanks Steve! I have had all the Arlo Pro cameras (0,1,2) and accessories... Spent more $ than I probably should have hoping to extend the useful life of my Arlo system (Cameras, Batteries, Chargers, Hubs). Arlo decision to start charging for any cloud storage is/was a serious concern... I too started looking at the Eufy system and I totally agree with your assessment... Eufy is not as good in all areas, but they have not declared any of their products as obsolete or at End of Life (EOL) making your investment worthless.... as Arlo recently has... Thanks!

Hi Steve, we have a Ring doorbell and alarm system. We removed all our old outdoor wired flood lights and old Amcrest (horrible) security cameras. So I am hardwired everywhere. I already have the Ring subscription. I have called Ring probably 6 x to discuss which camera/floodlights etc. They are not helpful. Your videos are great. I called Arlo- no customer service contact #. I called Eufy and never got through and left my number and no one ever called back. Even tho, no one seems very helpful at Ring, they have great customer service. Curios, do you think the hardwired Ring is better than the battery version? Are the batteries the same ones as in the doorbell ? thanks your videos are awesome!

My wyze camera will send me a notification of a vehicle or a person and that notification starts recording before anything is in view of the camera and after it's out of view with a camera does any other cameras do this because I like this feature I never miss what is happening in a notification but I am looking for an outside camera now the one that I am using I have in my window but I want actual outdoor cameras I prefer battery.

Eufy, was much sharper in the night vision mode of distance objects, like the house and the tree. Clear winner on sharpness, IMO.

teve, thanks for a SOLID review and comparison of these units. For me the Arlo was superior in audio and video quality, day and night (Eufy was also good in daylight). What is your opinion on the battery performance, which wasn't covered?

    • @chrissampson7569
      @chrissampson7569 2 роки тому

I basically live in a Eufy ecosystem and I can tell you the cameras I have last a long time based on how much movement is expected and what settings are chosen. The more the cameras record, the less battery life can be expected. I have both the Eufycam E and Eufycam 2C and I have a decent amount of foot traffic around them on a daily basis. In the two years I've had the cameras, I've only had to recharge them once, the Eufy wireless doorbell cam is a different story. Anyway, I have been very happy with my Eufy setup and even though the battery life is phenomenal -- imo -- I plan to purchase their solar panels so I won't have to worry about charging them again because it is a pain to have to take down each camera, charge it, then put it back up.

They're also releasing a hard-wired floodlight which apparently has better quality and motion detection

Don’t know if you read comments but, I’m looking for a camera that will be stuck (no screws) onto my RV. Now there is no WiFi, it’ll be off grid in areas where there is no cell service. I’d like it to be motion activated and store on a SD card. Thievery is up....even in the boonies!

    • @SteveDOES
      @SteveDOES  3 роки тому +1

Hmmm, that’s an interesting scenario. I know Arlo will record to the local storage plugged into its base if the internet goes down. But I’m not sure if other cameras like Eufy or Reolink do. I believe you might be able to do this with Reolink Argus 3 but you might want to check with their customer service just to make sure.

I have Arlo and have had them for a few years without subscription.( it was before they came out with that must have crap) . But do you or anyone know why they don’t record at night into morning? Like 9-10pm -8am???? I’ve looked into troubleshooting and see lots of comments , etc , but does anyone know how to fix? Or am I just screwed? Someone posted they sold/changed customer service to India or something and they just tell them to reset but doesn’t work and then some say after firmware fix the problems arose … please help!!! 🙏🏽

I suspect this is an HDR thing, but in the daytime, the sky had a nice blue gradient in all four cameras, but at dusk, the sky was completely white on the Arlo and Blink, a bit of blue on the Ring, and 50% white 50% blue on the Eufy. I realise the sky doesn't matter on a security camera, but could be an indication of camera quality when deciding between cameras.

I purchased a two camera eufy camera system two years ago. Worked great for six months then home base stopped working. Customer service is good, they sent a replacement home base and I mailed the defective one back prepaid by eufy. Unfortunately, two years later and this home base stopped working. I like the camera resolution, the long battery life and features but this is my second home base gone bad and past the warranty period.

    Great comparisons, Steve!
I don't know if Arlo got better, but when I was looking for wireless cameras, I was drawn to Arlo, but their audio quality and battery life were both garbage. The battery only lasted about 2 months and the audio sounded like those garbled fast food drive-thru speakers from the 90s -- all 4 cameras sounded like that; I sent them back and got something better. That was just my experience with Arlo, I hope others have had a better experience.

@@hotjesssica954 I went with a Eufy ecosystem and I couldn't be happier. Battery life is great on the wireless cams and image quality and audio are good too. I haven't had any issues and usually don't have to recharge my cams for at least 6 months. I plan to get solar panels for them so hopefully, I won't have to recharge them ever.
