    Great video! I am especially interested how you work with accidentals- I am not happy with the default spacing between accidentals, as well as the spacing between them and the notes...

      Hey Itamar! You can change both of those default spacing settings in Document > Document Options > Accidentals. This will only change the default in your current document, but if you wish to change this default for every new document, I'd recommend updating the default Document Styles (ua-cam.com/video/h2Km6BspqEc/v-deo.html) Hope this helps!

    Will all of these tips work if you're using the Handwritten Style (Jazz Font) ? Thank you for all these great tips!

    1:12 Wooahh how did you do the crescendo and decrescendo so fast?

      I use the JetStream Finale Controller (ua-cam.com/video/Rmo89_B6fb0/v-deo.html). There is a video coming out in the next week or two on how I can add the hairpins and slurs so fast. That's because I use a slightly modified version to make it even faster.

    Thanks for this! One question-what Measurement Units are you using? In the line thickness section of the tutorial, no matter which units I was using (inches, EVPUs, etc.), the results were way more extreme than what you show. What am I missing?

    • @nickmazuk
      @nickmazuk  3 роки тому

      Great question! Those numbers were probably using spaces. The quick way to type units in spaces (without changing your global measurement unit setting) is to type an "s" at the end. So like "1s" for 1 space. Hope this helps!

    • @plurye1
      @plurye1 3 роки тому +1

      @@nickmazuk Thanks, that did it. Further complication: changing the measurement unit via Finale/Measurement Units/Spaces did nothing-I had to use the "s" trick you just mentioned. Does changing that unit globally under the Finale menu NOT change the measurement unit in the current project?

    • @nickmazuk
      @nickmazuk  3 роки тому

      @@plurye1 Interesting. Changing the measurement unit globally should change it under the current project. I'm not sure why it didn't.

      @@nickmazuk Just did some experimenting-turns out that after you choose a different measurement unit, you have to actually quit Finale and restart for it to take effect; then it acts as expected. FYI I'm on the most recent release, on Mac.

    I'm having trouble saving the changes. I'm working on a iMac and can make the changes in the Engrave Style file, but when I open a new document the changes all disappear. What is the process for saving all the changes and then using them in a new document?

    • @nickmazuk
      @nickmazuk  4 роки тому +1

      Unfortunately on Mac, finding the correct document style is a bit tricky. There are actually 2 files titled "Engraved Style" in two different folders. See Peter Thomsen's response on this Finale Forum thread.
