Zotero is great! I've been using it with LaTeX, and that's been working amazingly for me. The AI however: I hate it! I'm going to come off as a bit of a luddite here, but reading papers, comparing what different people are saying with a critical eye and communicating that effectively is, like, half the job of being a scientist. That's where our skills are! And then I haven't even mentioned that the AI may not even be trustworthy. It may take the papers in your directories as input, but does it *know* what it is saying? Maybe a paper has a critical point that can be easily overlooked (maybe even by the authors themselves!) but that might be crucial for your reading of it. The point is, I don't trust AI to do this job, because I will have the sense that I should check whether it is even doing a good job. At that point, I may just read the papers myself! Anyway, I hope that my point comes across. I understand why you like it, but that's my two (well okay, three) cents.
Dear Andy! Thank you so much for this. I was searching for a similar integration and will definitely give it a try. Thanks again and may I add that you have created such a great value to researchers and academics worldwide!
Zotero AI plugin PapersGPT, in which you can seamlessly chat pdf with the best AI models, such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Llama, and QwQ o1 model. It will definitely improve your efficiency a lot for reading papers.
Hi Andy, Thank you for the great video. Very valuable indeed. To install ARIA, one has to install API key but it is not something we can directly import. Im not good at customising and coding the key. Can you do a session on this please.
Hi Andy just want to say thank you for continuing to make these videos ! You’re the most efficient, practical explainer of phd topics on UA-cam and cover so much on it ! I was looking for a video on zotero and was hoping you’d have one because I can always trust you cover everything I need ! I had been wasting so much time on the manual reference thing so I’m happy to see now how I can add them quicker to the app!
You want to do “unlink citations” on a second copy document (not on your only copy.) I wanted to use a standard citation format but add an html link wherever it had one, but I wasn’t able to figure that out.
Hi Andy, Looks promising! But it is still unclear to me how quickly the API credits I will have to buy with OpenAI will be spend. As OpenAI states: I can buy API usage for just $5 but any API usage I incur will first be deducted from these prepaid credits. And if my usage exceeds the credits I have purchased, I will be billed for the additional amount. What will I be able to do for this $5,- ?
Thanks! Is ARIA able to read the documents you have on Zotero? When I ask about something, it refers to Zotero metadata. So, I wonder if the answers provided by ARIA are based on something other than assessing the content of the papers you downloaded in your Zotero Library. If not, is there any Zotero plugin that can read the text, and which would you recommend? Thanks!
@DrAndyStapleton, why is the "Add-On" in the tools section not showing at Zotero 2024 version? Is not there. Thus, I navigated is at the "Plugin" view function. However, inspite downloading latest api file from github, Zotero states . What do I do to fix?
One pain in the back! is citations in text with narrative format. Try adding citations in APA format with a narrative format within a paragraph. I would like to see that...
Dear Andy, I got your lecture while I was struggling to install mendely. Since three years back I used to apply frequently. But, I couldn't properly install the Mendeley web importer and Mendeley citation plugin after I removed the mendely icon to update my PC.
Hi Andy. I love the video. Not so sure about ARIA. Took an age to set up. It is cool and I see your point. But it seems fiddly and you need to have uploaded your pdf's (I do not often do that in Zotero as it duplicates my files which I like to keep on my hard drive in proper folders) and then you have to remember the exact name of the book when you do the prompt. I think Jenni AI is better for this if you need to ask a quick question. I might be wrong?
Good to see this video before start writing my first article 🙏 I have an important question, let's say I have already written article its citation style is APA, and I need to convert it with one click to Vancouver style, os there such a thing or tool?
And about the Aria API set up? I'm getting a erro: The model `gpt-4-0613` does not exist or you do not have access to it. But my paid subscription is ok...
Quick question - in order to chat with my Zotero's library using ARIA - do I need PDFs for all the references or are DOIs enough for the references that are in open access? I mean, is it possible to effectively use ARIA with free version of Zotero (only 300 MB of space)? Thanks in advance!
Thanks Andy, You are awesome, Im gonna checout ARIA I hopw they expand it to local LLM or other providers, ik GPT4 is like the main one rn but it be good to have options
Somehow Aria is just not working, im currently have$10 in my openai account and im on a pay as you go plan, but it keeps saying "You exceeded your current quota"...
Thank you Dr. Andy. I have been using Zotero for some years. However, a free version has limitation of 300MB storage of the library if things havents changed. Because of this is was compelled to migrate my stuffs to Mendeley though Im not happy at all!!! Andy has things changes since my departure?😅
I’ve noticed when I use zotero for individual thesis chapters, it works well but when I combine several chapters, it slows down and doesn’t do ibid properly. Has anyone else faced similar issues?
Can Zotero search through the PDF’s you download? So that if I type in a search term, it will look through multiple papers all at once? Or does it just search the title/abstract etc?
Hello Andy! I must commend you on your exceptional work in creating an efficient reference storage system. I'm fascinated! And curious: how the system is powered by AI. Would you mind sharing the details? Your expertise in this field is greatly appreciated!

Hi Dr Andy, please how do I find the Aria OpenAi API Key
Rapid like ❤. I am proposing your channel to all my doctoral students. Great content.
Awesome! Thank you!
Dr. Andy “AI” Stapleton.
I’ve learnt more from you about conducting research than from my supervisors or uni 😂 keep up the great work.

Completely agree. The uncertainty of ‘did the AI summary overlook something?’ is a dealbreaker

where is the link for the info about getting the API key?
I would like to know too😂
Yes!
Can you please point me to the API Key you mention? I can't see it in the links. Thanks @DrAndyStapleton.
Drandy!
Im searching and searching, but i just cant find the link to the (6:50) chatgpt in aria in zotero. Can you guide me to it please.

This is incredible. Thanks!
The new version of Zotero (7.0) is fantastic!
wow as a first year grad student I want to say thanks!! This is super helpful
You want to do “unlink citations” on a second copy document (not on your only copy.)
I wanted to use a standard citation format but add an html link wherever it had one, but I wasn’t able to figure that out.
This is a class I had in chem lit and seminar but much better explained
What a legend you are! I came to learn but enjoyed the video for other reasons 😂
Hi Andy,

This is what I found too. 30mins into it....not too helpful 🤷🏼
Thank you, this is exactly what I need. Great content!
Can you clarify what paid service is needed from chatGPT for ARIA integration?
So wonderfull explanation of how to use in deatil manner of Zotero Library by Andy Stapleton. Good luck and Thanks a lot !!!
Could you please explain how we can use the Chatero plugin in Zotero? it is available for new version of Zotero
When I click in Zotero on Tools, there is no "Add ons" How could I fix that? Thank you
@DrAndyStapleton, why is the "Add-On" in the tools section not showing at Zotero 2024 version? Is not there. Thus, I navigated is at the "Plugin" view function. However, inspite downloading latest api file from github, Zotero states . What do I do to fix?
You need Zotero Version 6 - the newest version 7 is not supported
One pain in the back! is citations in text with narrative format. Try adding citations in APA format with a narrative format within a paragraph. I would like to see that...
Thank you! You made it very clear for me.
This is what real education looks like. Doctoral students should be given technology training. The most valuable channel on youtube :) Thanks so much
I will second that! I have referred to Andy and the channel as the most valuable online asset! We are fortunate to be here 😁.
Thank you so much Andy! I wish there was so much AI tools back in the days when I was manually struggling with my PhD lit review!!
Cool!
Thanks a lot, Andy.
I don't get it where to get the key? ARIA says "The model `gpt-4-0613` does not exist or you do not have access to it when i enter my key from openai
Do I need Zotero if I use LaTeX? The AI feature seems promising. Other than that I don't think it will be necessary.
Andy your videos have inspired me to finally grow a beard ❤
can you do a full in depth manual of zotero 7?
Dear Andy, I got your lecture while I was struggling to install mendely. Since three years back I used to apply frequently. But, I couldn't properly install the Mendeley web importer and Mendeley citation plugin after I removed the mendely icon to update my PC.

You could use Zotfile to solve your PDF folder problem
what if you have references which you don't want to use intext citation
Good to see this video before start writing my first article 🙏

API and ChatGPT are two different paid subscriptions, that's why I got this error
You need to pay at least 5$ as an organization on the open ai platform. Just having premium chatgpt account doesnt create the Key you need.

Aria not showing menu in Zotero 7.07
Zotero collections are not folders. They are labels. You can have the same document in multiple collections.
Thank you for the correction

You can connect it to your external hard disk. And you can sync on any computer.
@@victorboyi6383Or just use a cloud directory.
Wonderful presentation dear
so ARIA doesnt work unless with API key?
Does anyone know where to find the AI key for Aria?
Thanks for this great video! I'm looking for exactly the same plug in but for Mendeley. Do you know of such thing?
Does Zotero replace Mendeley?
wich one is better to use Mendeley or Zotero ?
Where is the open AI link??
I’ve noticed when I use zotero for individual thesis chapters, it works well but when I combine several chapters, it slows down and doesn’t do ibid properly. Has anyone else faced similar issues?

Hello! Thank you for the awesome video. Where can I find that awesome shirt?
why its not working on WPS
great tool, thank you. Although mine didn't add bibliography at the end of the page, don't know why.
how do those books get into zotero
anyone could help with the API key?
How about LaTeX?
I love you 🤣🤣💙, your content is awesome thanks.
Hello Andy! I must commend you on your exceptional work in creating an efficient reference storage system. I'm fascinated! And curious: how the system is powered by AI. Would you mind sharing the details? Your expertise in this field is greatly appreciated!
I might try this, but rather than use an OPEN AI api, I might try to use my Ollama api for local AI.
Mendeley or Zotero? Zotero seems more AI friendly?
You didn't explaihow to get API key to activate ARIA?
You need to pay at least 5$ as an organization on the open ai platform. Just having premium chatgpt account doesnt create the Key you need.
@@sam-9-l3p This is godsent.

So does Zotero organize the references not in an alphabetical order but according to the their place of mention?
It depends on which citation style you select. Whatever your style requires, Zotero can do it.
your favorite was mendeley. What happened there😂
The number of AI integrations by third parties!
do you mean its sponsored? So out of curiosity, do you still use mendeley? I use zotero btw:D

ARIA needs a paid chatgpt account.
