Our first look at Magic the Gathering's latest set, Assassin's Creed!
We open 7 collector boxes in this video to look for chase hits and see how repetition is with the smaller 10 card packs.

I do not mind the sets with less cards and packs with less cards which causes more duplication, but until the pricepoint reflects these things I'll just enjoy you guys opening them for other people!
It's weird because it somewhat already does.
People is paying 10+ for MH normal packs and paid 20+ for Double Masters 2 packs. Not forgeting the collector boosters themselves.
They just halved the cards per pack instead of doubling the price.
im buying this set because AC is one of my all time favorite game series but im not happy about it getting the epilogue treatment at standard set prices, if it was a universes beyond with a series i didnt care about it would have been a 100% skip

It's mad that this is coming so soon after MH3! I haven't even had my MH3 gift bundle delivered yet and y'all are already opening up Assassin's Creed! LOVED that first textured foil!
0:55 Is this what is called an Oil Slick Raised Foil? I have never seen one in my life and I was trying to do some research online.
No, the oil slick was unique to the special Phyrexia bundle. It wasn't particularly impressive.

@@neoVIVE I would call it a textured foil or raised foil, but who knows what Wizards called it. They come up with all kinds of wacky nonsense names to juice the marketing these days. None of it really means anything and a lot of them you have to see in person to understand what makes them different, because Wizards neither describes them adequately nor produces appropriate pictures.

Great question I don’t have the answer for. Bloomburrow very soon as well. I don’t think there’s any other AC games or shows coming out soon, so I guess it’s to get it on the shelves for the summer
@@MTGNorththere is an AC game that set in Japan coming out in November… so maybe that’s why they slotted it in? I am not an active collector or mtg player, I just enjoy the community and content so I might have a weird view on this stuff. That said, from a market perspective, some of the release dates on expanded universe stuff confuses me greatly 😅
Also yes, All the lands connect and make a big picture.
Cool opening! think this set is ok. I wish they would’ve just gone all out the way they did with lotr or even fallout. The aftermath style packs just seem a little too repetitive and bulky despite there being “bulk” removed. Just like aftermath it feels like I’m paying the same for less. Idk how they’d remedy that ? Include box toppers perhaps? I agree with the “less bulk” logic but can’t shake the feel. The short print run ought to help with some of that. Hitting a serial definitely would. lol.
I think they testing the market to see if eventually they can crush the product so small and maximize profit.

Can I just say how great to watch an opening by someone who knows Assassin's Creed and where the names are pronounced correctly. No-more "easy-o".

Ill be opening a full set of AC product for my channel once I receive my order.... but only one Sword of Feast and Famine, and not seeing the Scene Ezio in an entire case of Collector Boosters is a bit concerning...

The duplication is nuts. Can't imagine opening 3 copies of a bulk card in a $20 pack.
Those were all in the uncommon slot. Who is really relying on those to be unique cards?

Have been trying to decide on buying a box or case but seeing these opens don't really show much value for cost. Wonder what the overall production of these are. We know the amount of serialized cards, but other than that not finding any data.
Man you two are great but I can only make it 10 minutes in with all the duplication... Cover of Darkness needed a reprint, but not at this level lol

Collectors were extremely short again just like Fallout, but our main distro managed to snag us a few extra after someone else cancelled. Love them!
Bundles seems tight too, Beyond packs should be around a while like Fallout commander decks.

I feel like that first box would be a total loss if it wasn’t for that textured foil, tho I suspect the price of that will drop to the point these boxes are not close to worth what they cost.

Mh3 just came out, I don’t get it. There’s no time in between sets to enjoy it. I mean idk why I’m complaining, everyone uses tutor to infinite combos as quick as possible decks anyways

The only good rhing in these set are the swords, Black market connections and cover in darkness.
Reconnaissance is also a nice reprint but yeah feels underwhelming

Holy bulk. This sets over priced for such an underwhelming product full of so much duplicate bulk. Reminds me a bit of aftermath lol.

I think a lot of people who dislike this set (such as myself) is in part due to the AC IP not being appealing, the bland uninspiring artwork (a very subjective criterion of course), and the cards themselves not being mechanically interesting enough to play with (with a few exceptions). So it isn’t going to bother me at all whether this set skyrockets in price or not 🤷♂️

Bruh, this is the lamest thing MTG has done. Nobody cares about assassin’s creed. The art is boring, the cards are boring and I truly hope this product tanks and never rises.
