I modded my PS Classic about 2 years ago and it still runs great! I have pretty much everything I want to play from Atari, NES, SNES, Genesis, 32X, Sega CD, Game Gear, Game Boy, GBC, GBA, N64, and Playstation. Plus a lot of romhacks seem to work depending on which emulator you're using. I like using my PS4 controller to play everything. It's a good all in one system if you're traveling or want to condense your old systems to focus on just the games.
So, you should have specified that you need the CUE AND BIN Files in the transfer folder, to get the Hacked PS1 to recognize the game and run it. Other than that, excellent instructional!
No offence but CUE and BIN files have been used for ages in emulation and it is like common sense to copy both files, so it is easy to forget to mention it in a video.
@@skpenergy I think if you download a game file it should already be in the main file folder if not keep downloading some games untill you get one that has BIN and QUE files in the main folder copy those 2 and paste them to any files that are missing the .QUE & .BIN files
Actually in Europe it still one of the few mini consoles (the other are the C64 Mini and the Amiga 500 Mini), that can be bought for relatively normal prices (between 100 and 130 €) in some stores, that are still selling these. Nice video, keep up the good work!

@CONCRETEJUNGLE-be6ic I believe him, because I've seen the ps1 mini at $20..it was years a go....the sega genesis mini was also down to $20 at one time. I bought them after that and paid more for used.
i followed the first part to a T & no matter what i can’t get the ps classic to recognize the software & begin the download, any tips? i did everything the video says
If you have a xbox one or series S or x you can use duckstation in developer mode and play all ps1 games 100% speed and 4K with upgraded polygons and textures and filters. So this makes me think if an individual can make an emulator on a current console.I dont see why a billion dollar company like sony could not make a way of playing ps1 games on ps5
I can’t be the only one who has problems doing this, I download the project Eris and then put it into my ps classic and nothing happens, or it shows the ps logo then turns back off? I’ve had this problem multiple times trying to hack this thing.
HELP. This isn't working for me. I stick my USB drive in, formatted fat32 and labeled SONY but when I turn on the system it starts up normally, then a message appears saying "can't recognize the controller. Reconnect the controller to controller port 1" but nothing starts installing. It's like my USB isn't even in there. The unzipped files are in it too, I just don't understand why that first automatic process won't start.

Hello, I have successfully installed the eris program and successfully played 27 games. everything worked fine until i plugged the usb stick into the 1 port and switched it on to test the 2 joystick. since then the eris program can no longer be played on the classic! connected to the pc everything looks normal !!
Head over to the modmyclassic discord where you will find a good group of guys that will help you. Chances are though you have a power limit issue. The front USB sockets are power limited by Sony, so the bigger the flash drive, the more power it draws. If the USB is sucking to much juice, it won't work. Your options are a power mod, or more simply, get a otg adaptor. It plugs in the back so you have both sockets free on the front. Another issue could be if you are using an old USB flash drive, it maybe just too slow. It's enough to install eris, but mayne too slow to run games.
I know this is an old post but yes if you get a USB OTG hub you can connect it with your drive into the back of the machine via the power port and then have both front ports open for controllers
This is awesome, bought mine for 15 bucks! Thank you so much the other tutorials are so confusing. Also, is there any way to completely destroy the thing because i want to avoid that as much as possible

Thanks for the tutorial i will try it out soon!!! Does multiplayer work with an Docking Station? Cause you only have 1 usb Port left the Other one needs the usb drive ?
Wow cool thanks for this, most straightforward guide ive seen on this. My classic has basically sat in the box since I bought it. Last time I checked you had to connect the actual console to a PC, this is way simpler. Can you use a USB 3.0 drive once setup and do you know the max capacity it will read.
Supposedly 64gb at USB 2.0 is the sweet spot. Anything higher and in usb 3 and you might run into power draw issues, but there's no limit realistically.
