  • The AR-15 is the most common rifle in America for home defense. In this video I share with you how I choose to set mine up and why. This is not to be mistaken for an AR Pistol, as I would set that up slightly different. For more information on how and why I set up my AR-15, AR Pistol, shotgun and pistol for home defense. Thanks for another great video it’s got me thinking about putting a knife sheath on my rifle. Ancient people used to fight naked it makes me wonder how they carried spare mags lol 😂

I use two mags clipped together,DIY: tape at the rite place and a 223 brass in between the two of them to separate em, sturdy and nicely done, the works...but...where did you get that grip knife? I want it!😀 Another great and practical video, thanks.

That’s a well thought out home defense rifle bud. Mag runs out drop the knife out🙌🏻Note to self: don’t break in Rich’s house 🤣. Unless he invites me out to try a sim assault, that could be fun 😬 😝

This is a great answer to today’s home invasion problem IMO... everyone should roll w this. 2 guys, 5 or 12... plenty of bullets for everyone... and a weapon retention option in case of a bum rush or caught off guard or whatever... damn near the same set up i have (gripknife and all). For those at home, just make sure you can get to it at a moment’s notice but w/o being a risk to the little ones or an invite to unwanted eyes, otherwise you may have new problems you don’t want. There are great ways to keep it close and concealed while stored safely but ready in a couple seconds.

A grip knife... interesting. I have one of those steiner dbal or something that has a vis light, vis laser, ir light and IR laser. I do have some night vision but I keep a red dot on my rifle.
Do you think it is worth mounting a 5x magnifier behind my red dot. I've times myself it only costs me about 2 seconds longer to get the gun ready to fight. I think it is useless within my home but if there is a SHTF situation it could be useful at least for threat identification.

This rifle I don’t only use for home defense, but also is my primary rifle and living in a rural area having some power helps. If I lived in a suburban area I would go with a red dot. As far as the 2nd magnified optic I personally find it is more streamline to simply have one scope like seen here that can go from 1-4x and potentially more durable as well.

Rich question does the grip knife considered a VFG because being disabled I've got CP and want a 12.5 BCM pistol but need a VFG in order to shoot and be confident my rounds are going to go where I want them to or would I be better off doing a 13.9 pinned and welded ?

LPVO is a bad option for home defense in my opinion. The eye relief is horrible and target acquisition compared to a red dot for CQB is night and day. Try crouching behind a chair and taking a weird angle shot with a LPVO vs a red dot and you will quickly change to a red dot for home defense. Also unless you live in a 100,000 sq ft mansion you will never need more than a 1x for home defense.
