Some good tips Rick thank you. Here's a tip for you if you had outdoor sensor lights you would be able to see the purp outside clearly.
I have auto turn on lights all around my house.
People used to come knocking on my door late at night.
I used to go out the back door and circle around the late night knockers.
I always scared the hell out of them.
Because they are not expecting anybody to be outside in the yard.
They always took off running, so i think they was trying to rob my house if i didn't answer the door.
So i started adding auto lights, so i could see them easier when i stalked them.
I also have cameras outside.
And i always have my gun next to me bed.
Just in case they decide to come in anyways.
Thank you!
Best wishes!
Thanks for the great tips!
thank you good advice

Excellent! Thanks for these valuable tips! I think I'm pretty diligent but you've presented a couple of things I hadn't thought about.
3:48 That's how i turn off tinder on my phone when the wife pulls in the driveway
the car alarm seems like a solid tip, glad you point out the risks of a using single weapon mounted light. funny how my dad always told us to leave off and turn out lights. some actually say turn on lights and make noise to "scare them off", lolz. and do not forget uncle Joe's advice to, "fire two blasts into the air"
For me I can't ambush. I have to go to my children. Who are on the other side of the house.
Depending on age, designate a hiding spot for kids that is out of the line of fire. Take care of business, then get the kids.

A lock on the bedroom door would seem like a good idea. Even a a simple door bolt would be effective if the home owner braced against the door. While effective, a gun is not the best idea for home defense, simple low cost things will deter 99% of burglars and the remaining 1% will fail or get aressted, things like decent locks, security lights + cameras, locked gates, a dog, a flashlight, locks on interior doors, making sure the windows are closed and locked. You have to think how easy would your house be to get in.
I'm not calling 911 until it is over and I need them to fill out the report and clean up the mess. Nothing the Police can ever do will help me...that I know. I'm surprised you feel the way you do, but it may just be a politically correct and neutral response. I forgot more than most of them will ever know. You are more effective while sound asleep Rich. Remember the Police are not your bodyguard nor do they have any obligations to protect and/or come running to save you.
