  • I have had restless leg syndrome (RLS) off and on since my 30s. Like many of you I have tried several things to try and help keep it from keeping me awake at night. I finally came up with the BEST solution! Well, at least the best solution for me, and maybe for you. too! But it's a secret! Shhh, don't tell! :)

    I use to think that restless legs were just that condition where you your legs jump but they don't have to jump to be restless legs. I have lost a lot of sleep because of my legs. I felt like I just had to keep moving my legs, flexing the muscles, etc... for hours on end. I recently saw a post on FB about eating 2 bananas a day for RLS. I tried it and it completely stopped my leg problems at night. I also bought some potassium capsules to take when I run out of bananas.

      @@karine8738 So far ..Dr. told me not to take potassium supplements...bad for the heart. Thats what they give people when they execute them, high dosage of potassium..

    What just worked for me: Pinch hard between your big toe and second toe for at least a full minute. Unbelievably this made my RLS go away tonight. I'm in shock right now. Would love to know if it works for others. I've been searching for relief for 17 years now!

    Hello awesome. I have this every so often. i do realize that when I drink enough water that it helps with my legs. Also I started taking Moringa and that has help also. Thank you for sharing, God bless, stay safe and have a wonderful day.

    Good information. Don't know if I have that...though often at night I feel the need to just 'stretch or exercise' my legs. So I do that in be (like bike riding on my back) if that makes any sense. It is not really 'painful'....just sometimes annoying!

    Wintertime relief…stand in snow. Summertime relief…stand in tub of cold water! Works amazingly. Unless you’re at work!

    It typically occurs at the nap hour, and if you are in an environment whereby the room conserves heat too well, then the best approach is to do a before nap time workout routine of your choice for an hour and also remember to keep the dry air out during the summer the best way you know how or winter time using the thermo control with the "fan" control setting on "auto" fan setting simultaneously and not "on". Dry fan air will dissipate at auto setting, and it's good for the lungs when you do your workout out in your room at night before bed. That's my conclusion and cure after 38+ years, too. It seems that at this age, it is the gold standard age experience I've noticed. Human evolution wasn't meant for energy saving high-tech rooms, which trap dry air in rather to the contrary outdoor experience. Who even gets cured off of restless leg syndrome on a couch rather than outdoors doing stuff and then napping in the forest somewhere. I am serious about this. It's a cure on my behalf in every season of the year and counting. My time for a workout is at the 12 mark to 1am. It is cold outside to open windows and dangerous too. unpredictable too if you live with your loved ones.

    Hi Friends who are suffering from RLS.. I rub a dry soap on both my legs and this has brought me relief.. I don't usually post comments.. But thought if this helps some one like me...

    I put a bar of soap (Irish spring, but you can use any kind) under my fitted sheet. And it worked, no more restless leg syndrome!

    Oh, I was looking for the homemade balm for the restless legs but do not see the link. I used to get restless legs yrs. ago in my teens. They stopped. I always ate healthy as a teenager, all homemade food, no McDonolds no coke ever ect. European, we made and make all homemade foods. Any how I do get severe muscle cramps and thought that maybe the balm could work for that. Thank you!

    I make a magnesium oil then make a lotion from that.. I had RLS for 15 years..been using my lotion for a year and havent had another bout with it. I sell at the farmers market. It also helps some with migraines and leg cramps

    Most fruits are high in potassium. Nectarines contain more than bananas. You can receive your daily magnesium requirements by eating 2 Tablespoons of pure maple syrup. I forget to beef up on both because of my brain fog. Ive had RLS for 20 yrs. It was in remission until i went off my morphine pill, 2 mo ago. It came back with a vengance! My legs cramp, spasm, tingle, & creepy crawly. I'm gonna try the rub!

    I have it in my whole body, it is HELL!!
    sedatives make it faaar worse. like seroquel. but I suffer from insomnia so I have to take it.
    I have to take 4 carbidopa/leveadopa (sinemet) at bedtime with the seroquel, or the movements and that horrible sensation, become more than I can stand. if I take the sinemet, it stops all that. and I sleep until it wears off about 7-8 hours later. I also found that hydrocodone works to, I looked it up and some people are actually prescribed it for that reason.

      I would suggest a magnesium oil massaged directly on your legs. If that isn't possible, applying it elsewhere should work as well. I hope this helps you.

    Put a bar of soap in your bed at the bottom near your feet - it works! I don’t know how - saw it on another video and instantly worked!!

      I've but two bars of soap under my bed sheet, one on each side. It has help greatly. Also, I did a muscle rub at the base of my spine.

    Good morning, thanks for the information....I don't have restless leg but I do get terrible aching in my calf at night and have been using Blu Emu its like Bengay without the smell but when it gets really bad I use Biofreeze that works well. I was taking supplements but the doctor said not to my levels were fine,ugh....at 62 I wish I felt a little better maybe when I lose some weight it will help,any tips for that,haha! have a blessed Sunday.

      Hi Janet. I just wanted to give you what worked for me to lose weight. I started the first part of this year doing intermittent fasting, eating within an 8 hour window every day, from 12pm to 8pm and that’s it. I eat whatever I want within that time, usually lunch, an afternoon snack and then a late dinner. I have lost 20 lbs without really trying. I know a lot of people do keto or other low carb diets, but I’m a carboholic, so this has worked for me. It probably has helped that it’s summer and I’ve worked out in the garden a lot. I wasn’t concerned about losing it quickly, I just hope to lose more and keep it off. Hope this helps!

      @@helenbrown8572 I went and had ultrasound on my legs and he said there's no clots,I guess that's what he thought it might be....I am 62 and seems like things aren't working like they should anymore 😉😂

      I would like to share my experience, I also have the RLS, thanks for the información. During the winter time I was drinking ginger tea every morning I love the spicy taste sometimes with some cinnamon it tastes so good I love it. time goes by then I started noticing my pants were getting bigger. I lost wait with out even trying how great is that! “Then I going that here is crystaliced ginger as well that is my treat after lunch”

      Oh I’m praying, I’ve gone through dozens of bottles of hylands. I finally gave in and asked my doc for a prescription today. I took it an hour ago and praying for relief!!

      I suffer from rls as well. Sooo damn frustrating. I do feel that magnesium supplements,. and/or in spray form (magnesium oil) used to help immensely, but it seemed to have stopped doing the trick for me. I do use the Hylands restlful legs, and I keep it by my bedside (I put 3 pills in the cap, so I have quick access to it). I swear it is the thing that makes it go away. I will say a prayer that it works for you as well. I am going to continue with mag supplements, eating bananas, etc. because they are good for ya anyway. PLease let us know how you are doing and if the hylands is working for you.

      Please try iron. I went to Shands Hospital here in Florida which is a research and teaching Hospital because of the severe restless leg syndrome requiring medication. Supplementing with iron everyday truly helps

      That is a temporary issue. There is a underlying issue. I read that probiotics/ magnesium g/ vitamin D3 and K are needed. I will give this a try. It’s like a force that moves my legs and I’m a bit freaked out by it.

    I thought I had a rat in the mattress my bed as something that was huge came towards me as was the size of a cat, My apt pest control said i had no pests. i went to the hospitial. they took blood work, gave me an iv then embarrassed the hell out of me with "This is your Life" by having a social worker wanting to ask me very personal info, i said i'm not answering shit. you got questions, go talk to my lawyer!! - RLS, Dermatitis both legs, Chronic Charley Horse Syndrome.

    Really hot water, and/or the massage effect from my shower head, gets rid of my night leg jerks. Some people confuse RLS, with night time leg jerks. I have night leg jerks. It only happens right as Im dozing off. I cure this with getting in the shower and spraying my thighs with really hot water for 10 to 15 mins. Works everytime. Im posting this because its basically a cure for it, and some people may be confusing having RSL, and night leg jerks. If you guys are new to the issue, you should try magnesium, and iron supplements. Those seem to be the main ones associated with these conditions, but I have heard vitamin d etc help.

    I have suffered from this for years. About 10 years ago I was at my pulmonologist office for something unrelated and I happen to mention to him what my legs feel like and how often it happened at night. He chuckled a little bit, took out his prescription pad and said take this is called Mirapex. He said his wife also suffered from this. I started taking Mirapex 25 mg and it works like a charm. It literally takes it away every time. I only took it when I started feeling symptoms but through the years I take 50 mg now and I take it every night before bed, it literally completely takes away the symptoms every single time I don't know what causes it actually nobody does I try to figure out what I do on different days and see if there's any common denominator, but to this day I've never come up with one. My mother has suffered with this for years, but she would not take medication from it until recently. At 90 years old she decided to try it and she started crying two days later because it took the symptoms away. Although I didn't know my grandfather, my mother said he suffered from the same thing so obviously there is some genetic component to it if I didn't have Mirapex, I don't know what I would do, I really don't. If you suffer from restless leg syndrome, haven't tried Mirapex I strongly strongly suggest you do literally a lifesaver.

      I have used Mirapex for 3 years and it does work for me, but not always. I have been up since 2:00 am with RLS. I have even take two Mirapex with no luck.

      Mirapex which I have taken & currently still take today is the very last defense against Restless Legs now. It makes the syndrome worst. I just did found this out doing research. I’m just sick. They now say it’s a B1 deficiency and check your blood. A totally different approach. Mirapex does work but it will just keep making the condition worse.
