I bit the bullet and got the touring edition for my STI with the blacked out tips and it looks UNREAL. I've seen people at lights who were behind me taking pictures of the tips because they dont look normal. Absolutely NO drone while in 6th gear and it only really opens up when you want it to. Some good pops and crackles when downshifting too. I had the R400 before this and the drone freaking killed me. The AWE is pricey as hell but you get a blow pop with the exhaust so hell, that puts it in the win column for me.
+1 for AWE. Guys from PA know how to make nice exhaust....but when your engine has to dig to go up an incline, the purring gets louder and some might think it is borderline annoying/obnoxious. I be been running my AWE for 2 years now (in Ohio) and other than some small leaks at the joints and dirty, dirty tips, it does alright. The 4"tips are a tight squeeze in the opening.
I love my WRX and would choose it over a BRZ any day of the week, but I love that it exists... as odd of a statement as that sounds. I love that Subaru is focused on AWD but still makes a RWD performance car and I love seeing BRZ's at Subaru meetups. Without the BRZ, meetups and cruises would just be WRX's/STI's with maybe a few Foresters mixed in. The BRZ just adds flavor to the community.
I have awe touring on my wrx and i like the deep tones and the black tips But i also have stock downpipe and mid. I used grimnspeed 3” adapter to mid to catback fits great no leaks thank you subispeed
@@itsDarrell the awe track looks better and sounds amazing. Lots of pops and bangs as well. If you need sound clips look around on UA-cam or I can send you some! Def recommend
I would like to see a top mount inter cooler vs front mount. I personally have the verticooler. Obviously there is a huge difference but I think some viewers would like to see the differences on performance, install, and reliability.
cool info, this new "vs" is a great idea. It would be nice to have comparable stats/spec on the screen too. It's nice to see comparison while you're talking about it.
I think when they say "adjustable" they just mean when you first put them on the car you can easily adjust how far they stick out. Many times getting that fitment right is difficult. I dont think they mean changing the fitment.
Cesar Recca I agree with you regarding the fitment part but when you “adjust” them you have to loosen up a nut or bolt to do so leaving a slight opening to have salt get in there, whereas other exhaust are welded on and don’t have that opening.
Did you get the version with or without mufflers? I read that they can be easily interchanged between track version and touring edition. Is that true for you also?
Love this idea. Some ideas for comparison for common mods: intakes, full turbo back /j pipe, short throw shifters, coil overs, intercoolers. Should be enough options in each category for interesting comparison
Can you guys do a sound test video or comparison with the new MBRP RACE 3IN QUAD TIP CAT BACK EXHAUST? it’s a really good price but I wanna know how they sound. I didn’t find a video on how they sound yet.
Gday from Australia, love your videos. I am about to take ownership of a new 2021 WRX CVT and wanted to ask you if I get an aftermarket exhaust (AWE Touring catback) do I need to get a tune? If I do need a tune would I take it to Subaru directly to do this? I am an amateur and have no experience in car mods I have driven Corollas all my life. Thanks in advance keep up the great vids :)
Are you able to stick the awe straight on without having any tunes? New to all this car stuff have a 21 model looking at upgrading my exhaust. If anyone can help thanks.
Maybe catted or non catted j pipe connected to a resonated mid pipe with muffler deletes vs traditional cat back with j pipe catted or not would be cool.
I would assume that either brand would fit a Forester XT like most exhausts for STI's do....I currently have a 2015 STI mid-pipe and mufflers on my 2015 Forester XT. Would love to upgrade down the road after a few other mods.
Unless you are doing a turbo back setup you are wasting time and money if you think you are going to make more power. My Grimmspeed J-pipe netted me a very decent power gain. Cat back doesn't get it.
In the beginning you said you were focusing on cat back cuz it offers more refinement and performance, then in the end you say it they barely add performance. Confused viewer.
Love the “VS” idea

I'd like to see ETS vs. Perrin vs. Stock air intake.
GS too
@@Beanie.910 Yes, I went GS all the way and my tuner was surprised at the power I made on the dyno.
MAPerformace with their tune makes it a completely different car. in a good way :)
Cold Air Intake video is on the list :)
I have the AWE on my 2019 wrx and I love it. No drone and not overly loud, but you do really notice it when you get on it. I would recommend it.
Same I got the AWE track edition with black tips and love the crackles and pops 🔥
Got my touring edition on its way for my STi. Can't wait :D
I don’t recommend it
@@subiwrx808flow5 Why? What'd don't you like about it?
Matthew Sample R400 looks and sound better
I would LOVE to see a VS on some of the BOV's
I have the AWE TRACK edition on my car and It sounds amazing !
Louder than muffler delete ?
Are you tired of it yet?
Love this VS idea. I'd love to see as many exhausts as possible pitted up against each other to be honest.
First!!! Some days I wish I did get the WRX but then my BRZ put a smile on my face just cruising.
I love my WRX and would choose it over a BRZ any day of the week, but I love that it exists... as odd of a statement as that sounds. @@cjbr1989 I hear sound days I crave the wrx because I miss the turbo
Can you do a video on the AWE TRACK EDITION EXHAUST vs the R400 on a STI.
Yes! It should also include AWE touring just for a proper comparison

Awe for sure ❤❤
Front mount intercoolers would be one I like to see going to be one of next mods and air intakes.
I have the AWE track edition on my 18wrx and it is beautiful. Black tips. Aggressive. Lots of heads turn. Couldn’t recommend more
is it louder than a muffler delete?
@@itsDarrell yes and sounds better. It’s basically a muffler delete +

This VERSUS series is tight! How about intake systems next??
Perrin dual tube catback!!!! Review that one
AWE all day
AWE catback :) Sounds great! VS on some BOV or a "Pro's and Con's of a BOV"
Really wish Subispeed had parts for Legacy's this would be awesome
Great sounds between the two. The only issue I see are the adjustable tips. In the snowy states salt will get in there and ruin them in the long run.

My r400 cat back doesn't get loud till past 2700 rpm and I love the tone.
Sean Moore i got the same last year. Hehehee
So much drone tho
OOoh can't wait for that floor mat one.
MXP, and for a vs video, how about Boomba BPV vs Perrin, Turbo XS, and Nameless for sound and smooth acceleration.
Want to see a tomei exhaust system on the wrx or the sti
Was this with or without a catless j pipe??
Awe sounds so Aggressive!! It’s the tone of my choice!!
I would like to see an intake vs!!

Can we get an STI exhaust comparison?
I would like to see single tip vs
would love to see a corsa comparison too :)
Solid motor mounts vs poly mounts or solid transmission mounts vs poly transmission mounts would be interesting.
@subispeed Are these two comparisons fitted with aftermarket J-pipes?
... Probably, as they are heavily modified as show piece cars as well as track/autocross events
Thoughts on the Corsa? I've been looking into it for my 2017 wrx with a grimspeed j pipe
These are nice but I just put on my WRX j-pipe and Invidia R400 and it sounds amazing and you can feel the difference

You don’t need a tune for a cat back exhaust.
Would this be to loud for daily driving in the city if I paired it with a resonated catted down pipe

Maybe catted or non catted j pipe connected to a resonated mid pipe with muffler deletes vs traditional cat back with j pipe catted or not would be cool.
AWE is what I would go with because of less drone which would help with going catless. Awe sounded better going down the straight in this video.
