Timothy's name has really come to the fore as one of the world's greatest exponents of the viola and with Ke Ma's articulate playing - what a combination- no wonder his name along with Matthew Lipmann would rank as the leading viola soloists in the world in 2022.

When I studied this sonata, I always hated it. It seems simple, but it's actually fiendishly difficult both technically and musically and I could really never make it sound as beautiful as I thought I could have been. I'm glad that there is someone who can. This performance is marvellous, and even if I don't agree on every choice of phrasing, it is actually brilliant and it makes me happy to listen to this sonata at its full pontential of beauty! Ridout is really an outliar.

Still! sloppy bowing. You keep the bow between the Bridge and the fingerboard. Watch Pinchas Zukerman.......perfect bowing.
