Hi Chef, I went to Costco yesterday and bought the same box of battered cod you did to try it out. I was hoping they didn't taste like fish sticks. I put them to bake and fried me some french fries. The two go so well together. I LOVED them!!! I can make my own Fish-n-Chips now and not pay $15 or more at a restaurant. I want to try the ones from Sam's Club and compare the two. Thank you....
I think that would be good if cooked in the air fryer too. The pieces look like they're good sized. I'd definitely try that. I think that if you like it, it's going to be good. I really appreciate your wife's reviews as well. It helps to have contrasting opinions. She seems to have a very refined taste or palate.
Hi Chef Dawg, I bought a box of these for the first time today at Costco and then watched your review after purchase. I made a few for a fish sandwich for lunch today and they were EXCELLENT. Wow are these good and "meaty". Batter coating is delicious. Interesting thing though, price is now $18.49 for a box of these in August 2022 compared to your $15 July 2020 review. :( Central IL here. I agree.... 10/10👍👍
I know trident is a good brand I know a lot of guys that work out in those plants and I work in a shipyard fixing there boats and I will tell you there factory boats are really clean compared to other company’s
Thanks for making this and for your other Costco reviews. It appears the closest strap tank to me is 1,900 miles away so if your bride is just mildly more enthusiastic about strap tank’s fish compared to Costco Cod, I’m going to save my gas money and drive 1 mile to Costco instead. Now Culver’s on the other hand is a couple miles away but Culver’s 3 piece cod plate with a soda is $15, so your enthusiasm about the Costco product being better than Culver’s is really encouraging, thank you,
@@ChefDawgso it’s not a Costco products but I like the Nathan’s onion rings, and they can be hard to find. I always baked them in the oven and recently I was at a riverside fish fry where the guy was deep frying the same frozen Nathan onion rings that I bake in the oven, only he was doing them in a fry daddy in peanut oil. It was just incredible, the crispness and crunch factor was off the hook compared to baking. This cod in your video looks crispy and crunchy for baked but I wonder what it would be like deep fried. I am going to get some of this beer cod at Costco this week and try them both ways, baked and fried. What initially caught my eye when I first saw this product at Costco this week was not only the picture, but that for a battered product it’s only 18 carbs for a 1 filet (3 ounce) serving. I do Keto and do 20 carbs or less daily. Most days I do 0 carbs, so this 1 piece would let me fly under the radar of the 20 gram max. I brought up Culver’s earlier because I do really like their cod, but always limit my dine in serving to 1 piece. Paying $15 for a combo is just pricey for that. FYI if you are also a member at Sam’s their Taylor Farms shredded cabbage for $2 can be used to make epic Culver’s like slaw that can be served with this cod. Thanks for letting me ramble. Peace
Oh man....the husband has some real loving tolerance to his spoiled wife that would rather to buy food from somewhere else after he just cooked dinner...if it was the other way around, the guy would be the A-hole 😬it's the gesture.
WIFEY IS RIGHT. I bought this and it's not as great as he's blowing it up to be. i rather go out and pay for a good fish and chips than eat the Costco version.
Most baking sheets are only rated up to 400 or 425. The pub fish say to cook at 475 and they really need it to be crispy. Unless you buy a more expensive sheet that has steel rim, the sheet will warp. It flattens out once it cools, but it’s not very good for it.
please explain why u dont use Aluminum foil?...................doing it without....new pans become gross within a month vs years of service..regardless of cleaning...?..............plus u can throw the greasy foil away? i dunno, the pan is the vessel to cook...the foil is the plate?....dont like dirty/washed plates?
I love it. I am one of the pickist eaters who never loves restruant fish but lives this one.

They always look better on the box then what they taste like
Thanks for the the tip, I'll definitely pick this up next time I'm at Costco.
Me too!
Dude, one of my all time favorites. Great product.
love it. entertaining, educational, can't really ask for more...
Glad to hear!

I bought these and we loved them! Thanks for the review.
We are glad you like them!
Absolutely THE best frozen fish I have ever had! Stopped buying from the local 'fish& chips' place when I discovered these.
They are the bomb!
My wife hates fish, but if it's really this good, maybe I can get her to try some. I'm picking these up next time I'm at Costco.

Amen!
It looks so good.
I love fish crisp too.
That’s funny
Your cute little wife doesn’t like anything with flavour 😂
Can you fry these?
Im sure you could, it would just cook a lot faster.
Thank you now I am going to buy frozen food
10/10 for me! The husbands taste buds are normal. The rest of the family.....is questionable. 😅🤣😅🤣they're too darn picky.

What!!! I won't show my wife this lol
@@ChefDawg 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
What happened to your cookie sheet its kind of warped there lol. That cod looks so good. Add some lemon for sure.

@@karenritchie9161 That sucks. They should make them better.

All I’m seeing is Dennis and Dee Reynolds
I’ll pick this up but ur craZy if U think frozen fish is better than the freshly fried cod at Culver’s
Oh I love Culver's as well... glad your watching our channel thx for the support.
compare the nutritional analysis . 970 Culver's vs 340 trident. So cut them a little slack- fat taste look-
u can't bake this, u have to fry it in the greasiest oil! If you don't pass out after eating this, you cooked it wrong.
It looks like too much flour , little fish
You'd love them
Don't know if we got a bad batch but they were the worst fish we ever tasted. Tasted like yeast and cleaner. Threw them all out.
Super sorry to hear that! That's kinda weird.
Why would u throw it out .return it to Costco and get ur money back
@@ChefDawg mine tasted great! sometimes tastebuds can be "off"
