  • A new project has been underway for a few weeks and I've finally got enough footage to put together a video showing the construction of the major elements, including a 3D printed railway bridge. In part 2 we'll take a look at painting everything and finishing the diorama....I hope you enjoy watching 👍
    If you're interested, the CAD programme is a professional 2D/3D CAD software and its what I do for my day job except with buildings not bridges.....
    3D printer etc - Anycubic Photon Mono X and Wash and Cure
    Model Kits
    AFV Club - 1/35 Churchill 3 inch 20 CWT Gun - Ref: AF35253
    Panzer Art - Churchill cast turret with Hessian tape camo net & Churchill stowage set
    Voyager Photo Etch set for Churchill Mk III
    Eureka Tow Cables for Churchill Tank
    Miniart - 1/35 Railway Track European Gauge - Ref: 35561
    Metal tracks from Masterclub - Churchill 'late' type
    Please note that the cameras and processing software may not accurately reproduce the colours of paints used

    This would take me three months to plan, six months to build, and it wouldn’t be half as good. Another brilliant diorama! Thanks for the inspiration.

      Thanks for watching 👍.....FYI - I think it took about 3 months planning it, including 3D drawing and test prints for the bridge and I'm around 6 weeks of building so far including the Churchill .....and there's still lots to do, lol 👍

Problem is I feel is that there isn't really an affordable CAD package for the home user, well I haven't found one. They all seem to be on an annual subscription. • @LeveretteJamesClifford1955

    This is not a criticism but I would like to know why you make small base dioramas and then fill them to capacity? Like I said, this is not criticism, just curiosity and wanting to know if there is a reason like personal preference or maybe competitions (where the quality of your work without a doubt must bring you a lot of wins).
    To be open at my end, I like to do a mixture of sizes and over the past few years, without acting on it, I have wanted to build large dioramas made from smaller interlocking pieces for ease of transport. My degree was in fine arts and actually got into the hobby because one of my admired professors asked me if I could stop by a model shop and pick up a Tamiya Hanomag (back in 1977) which looked so interesting I bought one for myself and an Italeri Panzer 4 when Italeri made great kits and working suspensions plus a number of little movable parts that appealed to the kid playing with army men that has never been extinguished. Anyway, I got hooked and for a long time I made dioramas but then my wife's health concerns prevented me from making more than one model a year. I could have made more and continued on but she was far more important to me. When she passed away in April, 2019 a lot of my skills were rusty and combined with aging, it took me a couple of years to start building in a meaningful way. Actually, Taesung Harmms and I have been friends for a number of years, not close and in person but through a lot of great communication via email and Facebook, which extended past the hobby and into other interests. He actually did a few things that got me motivated and feeling like I was on the edge of the hobby and a little push could help. So, until recently I have just been building and painting and have just started a project, a diorama to showcase a destroyed Tiger E that I build from photos (3) covering the tank in Panzerwrecks Normandy. I built the tank including research and then building using a lot of kit parts from several companies, while my wife was sick. Now to do the groundwork shown in the photos!

    • @CWModelling
      @CWModelling  2 місяці тому

      Thanks for watching 👍.........I have made larger pieces in the past and will do again in the future but for now, the size of the dioramas I am making is purely based on the size of display space I have available to me.........larger dioramas = less space available 👍

    • @LeveretteJamesClifford1955
      @LeveretteJamesClifford1955 2 місяці тому

      @@CWModelling Thanks for answering my question! I am amazed at your skill set! Also your understanding of moving the eyes across the entire piece. I used to work as a cartoonist and learned how to set up a movement from one panel to another and then moving to the second and third lines of drawings. The same applies to good layout of dioramas that involve more than one vehicle and figures. Seems at first limiting but actually quite freeing and offers more room for creativity. You seem to be a natural at that! I got a kick out of the diorama with all the cows and lots of cow "patties" on the ground. And then the name of the diorama is Watch your step! You use humor as well! Groucho Marx, diorama maker!
