Nice one straight to the point bud I do like your tips Ken mate no messing straight to it.👍
Thanks Ken. Good tip on the oil. I will probably use good old 10/30 in my 2 JD's as one is a 1986 and one is a 1996. But on the newer stuff even I should check the manuals now. LOL
$13 quart in Lowe’s today.
That’s crazy expensive!
Great tips buddy really great video
I just bought a new 2021 Hustler Fastrak 48 with the 22 horsepower Kawasaki FT691V engine. It has the Kawasaki 49065-0721 oil filter.
I bought a Scag Liberty Z 48" August of 2019. It has the Kawasaki FR651V. The recommended weight oil is 20W50 for the hotter summer temps here in south Louisiana.
Kawasaki offers their synthetic blend oil in 20W-50 but as you said use only in hot summer weather.
Very good tip brother thanks 😊
My FR651 came with the bigger filter, but the smaller 7007 is about the only one I can source.
Does the Wix 51394 work on the fs691?
Use small engine oil and not automotive oil in the correct viscosity. Automotive oil is blended for fuel economy and for the emission control system in the cars, and small engine oil is blended for air cooled engines and has higher levels of Zinc and other anti wear additives.
Not all have Zinc but the KAW oil does! Thanks for watching!
I use either Mobil 1 or Bosch Distance Plus oil filters. The Mobil 1 has a 99.7% first pass efficiency while the Bosch has a 99.9%.
.
@@lgdeh9058 Not sure what to make of your comment.
Make dang sure that it’s the right filter and long enough not to block oil flow
I like the longer one and oem filters
I hear Wix is the best for oil and hydraulic filters
Can you use Kohler oil filter on Kawasaki engine on gravely mowers?
The Briggs, Kohler, and Kawasaki interchange in my experience
Your oil quarts have 4.50 written on them. Is that their price? If so, how did you find it so cheap?
If I buy by the case it’s even cheaper. I usually by multiple cases and pay about 4 dollars a quart from one of my parts suppliers who I do business with each week.
Im using this till i'm outa warranty, then shell rotella T6 15w40.
I love Rotella! And it’s cheaper too!
@@KensSmallEngineRepair I run the 5w40 in generator and atv.
👍
Hi good tips there but wheres the Torch plugs
Roy I’m saving them for a necklace I’m making for you!!
I wish it was $4.50, Try bout $13 bucks a qt. now and 16$
For the Filter almost $50 bucks per oil change. 5X on my mower last season. I think it's ridiculous how we have to pay such mark-ups .
5 bucks a quart my cost today, 12 for the filter
So the FR691V should use a synthetic blend vs regular oil?
I like their blend. Regular Dino oil works too, just change it when needed
Which type motor oíl you recomienda for a Z900, 1976?
I would say any oil certified JASO that has Zinc in it (ZDDP) like a Shell Rotella T 15w-40 would work fine
@@KensSmallEngineRepair thanks a lot. It seems your recommendation accurate compare with 10-30 now is it.
What oil is best for the FR600V? Under the hood it says SAE 10W30, but someone told me 15W50 synthetic is better.
I use 10W-30 in those
@@KensSmallEngineRepair also have the 18 hp fr600v. should i go with 10w30 or their 10w40. i live in st louis. also, are there other oil filters i should get, or stay with the 0724? thanks
@@gregwilliams2066 if you are using it in temps over 90F use the 10w-40, otherwise the 10w-30 is fine. Any of KAW filters are ok but the 7007 is the stock callout for that engine
@@KensSmallEngineRepair thanks, yes using the 10w40. dealer sold me the 7024 filter though. hmmm.
@@gregwilliams2066 the 7024 is fine.
Do these filters break to loosen to left or right.
CCW to loosen. Righty Tighty Lefty Loosey
Thank you sir. It was just a little tight. Made me wonder. But thanks again
the next time i see you live on a panel i will let you know a oil story.....lol
The dealer near me told me Kawasaki said 20w50 for all engines in the south. I live in Alabama is this accurate or should I be using 10w40?
@john scimeca Thank you!
I still use 10-30 in them. No problems in 20 years, as long as you change it!!
@@KensSmallEngineRepair well mine was using oil and letting out a white puff of smoke on startup. The 20w50 eliminated both issues just wanted to make sure Kawasaki meant 20w50 and wasn't told that by mistake.
@@skittykitty1000 I read in the manual for the engine from the kawasaki website that hot climate also recommended 20w-50 however 10w-30 was the next tier town in avg climate temp. so I guess either one is fine.
@@jiminy293 They went to 20w50 for southeast and I assume southwest US because there are oil consumption issues when using 10w30. Mine had that problem and Kawasakis remedy was to ise 20w50.
Where you find oil for $4.50 ?
That was 2 years ago!! $6.50 now!
$4.50/qt... where in the world u located...ill take a case
Connecticut
After spending hours on Bob's the oil guy forums you'll come to the same conclusion go run a Fram XG filter and Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 0-40 Euro
West Texas it’s 20w50
Hot environments I would do the same. To hot for me lol!
my manual says SAE 40
Don’t see that viscosity here anywhere
my Kawasaki manual say SAE#40
@@KensSmallEngineRepair not for the mower but for the motor
@@BillChase-qm8ud my dealer doesn’t sell 40w but I see Lowes sells Kawasaki 40weight. I may look into it as i service many KAW V twins
The Kawasaki filters are better and no longer mo(Not automotive oil.)
I’ve swapped out all 3 in a pinch, even the new Chinese MTD Powermore brand. As long as the threads are the same and the gasket lines up you are good to go. Just don’t use an oil filter in place of a hydraulic filter on a hydro machine! Thanks for watching!
AmsOil is best and Kawasaki does not make their own oil
I believe Mystic makes their oil. Open to correction. Thanks for watching
amsoil small engine don't have enough zinc don't use it
