The second fault over Ronaldo should have been a red card
Battle of Doha 2022 : Argentina Vs Netherlands (2-2) (4-3 after penalty Shootout) with most Record of Booking (18 Yellow Cards & 1 Red Card) beating up the Battle of Nuremberg 2006 : Portugal VS Netherlands (1-0) with 12 Yellow Cards & 4 Red Card
Actually in Portugal vs Netherlands there were 16 yellow cards and 4 red cards, therefore, this is still the match with the most cards.
@@faster2x77 yes and I'd say one red card is "worth" more than 1 yellow card. The Nuremberg battle was much worse.

@Henrique Faustino in 2007
Especially with mourinho as manager. He played so dirty because of mourinho mainly

This match was going through my head the minute Netherlands started acting up in today's match against Argentina. Didn't expect that match to break the yellow card record this one holds.

This is the most epic video I've ever seen, better than anything Hollywood could have ever made. You got this epic soundtrack kicking in with 2 teams fighting to the death. Their leader is taken down, their comrades try to avenge, but they fail. The energy, slow mo caps, the sweat, the confrontations, it's all absolutely brilliant.
This is a healthy rivalry in football and awesome to watch. Portugal and Netherlands are both small countries with a punch larger than their size. Congrats to their history and legacy in the world. A rivalry like this was inevitable. Wonderful countries.
Apart from Maniche's goal theres nothing healthy about a game like that sorry
@@desporto6559 both have different aproaches to history. The Netherlands was also a colonial power but sure, Portugal had a bigger impact. In the other side Netherlands had a lot of history and influence in Continental Europe that Portugal didn't.
The legacy of Portugal is the language spoken by more than 250 millions, the Dutch, well.... not really. They stayed 400 years in Indonesia and nobody can speak the language who sounds like a troth disease.

I think this was the first WC I ever watched. I thought it was really exciting, especially when number 14's cleats missed the Dutch goalkeepers teeth by about two inches even though the goal keeper was standing straight up. No penalty. I think the Portuguese guy's name was Valente or something like that. The Dutch started by trying to make CR7 a paraplegic.

Only 4 red cards was a gift from heaven.

1:00 How the ref didn't pull out a red card after this was beyond me...
Right? If he'd connected fully he would've broken Ronaldo's leg and possibly wrecked his career.
It was yellow clearly Ronaldo dove 😋
@@qlingshot426 that being a red card has nothing to do with Ronaldo being the target.
A game had a prospect of high skills and action. Instead was surprisingly the most game with both yellow and red cards in World Cup history.
I think the problem is that in those days especially Ronaldo was a massive diver, he hit the ground for any and often zero contact... Robben and Suarez are the same, they didn't get refereeing decisions given his way because they always cheated.
i love that shot of gio and deco sitting together
The Referee was not intimidate by the dispicable lack of character of the game by the players. Today, I still greet him for his fearlessness and boldness.
Netherlands did the same thing against Spain in 2010 and then against Argentina in 2022. johan cruyff must be rolling in his grave.
Dirtiest team in history, glad they lost
See Holland - Brasil 1974. With Johan Cruyff. Also a brutal match.
The Argentina and Dutch conflict was completely on Parades disgusting from Argentina as a whole and is probably why many think fifa rigged the world cup
Johan Cruyff was adicted in heavy drugs like most of the Dutch players.
The netherlands are an illusion in football.

yes, the Portuguese black ships were discovered by the Dutch in 1634 in Japan and since the Tokugawa Shogun favored the Dutch they were allowed to attacked the Portuguese (because Ishida Mitsunari / the Shogun political enemy was with the Portuguese).

Even 15 years on this match is still one I remember the most. I only saw the last half of 2nd half but it was one of most memorable matches I’ve seen. Wasn’t bothered who won which is why I didn’t watch from start. But when your not bothered over what team wins it’s this type of match that gets your attention. I was hoping Holland would equalise for it to go to extra time. Why is it games from teams in Europe produce the best most tense matches in World Cup yet in Euro there’s never any games like it? World Cup final in 2010 was tense and had a lot of cards shown that was Holland and Spain again 2 European teams.
Apart from the fouls it was one of the best matches of the 2006 WC with open play and many chances from both teams. One of the rare matches from the knockout stages of that world cup in which we saw attacking football.
I just remember two of the dirtiest teams ruin what should've been a great WC football game into a stop/ start spectacle of hacking, dirty play and gamesmanship. It was a f***ing disgrace.

The referee did this by not punishing 1:01 with a red card. That was the sign for the players to pick up the heavy guns.
portugal's goal was absolutely stunning
this match is forever etched into my memory as a Dutchman, Who remembers that moment where Figo pretended to be injured to influence the ref to give a red card to a Dutch player (can't remember who the player was), Figo was dragged off the field on a brancard but when he saw it was only a yellow card he jumped off the brancard and started playing again xD. Hahaha looking back now I can laugh about this, what a match
And how did van bommel finished the game? 😂
