Singaporeans don't usually buy the local meals at 711. The ones at the hawker centres, coffee shops or food courts are way better and fresher at similar prices. We only buy from 711 if it's after midnight and the others places nearby are closed..
Eating at 7-11 here in the US is more of a Trash Panda simulator than a culinary treat. You guys in Japan even get better selections at McDonald's than we do.
As a Singaporean, 711 food is a last resort for anyone. Hawker centres are so easily available, the only time people eat 711 food is like 3am in the morning, or in such a rush that he cant even wait 5 mins for hawker centre food. I personally dont know anyone here who eats 711 food
Well I do occasionally.I love the butter chicken biryani and the chicken rice is actually not too bad for me.But mostly going there to see what $1 drinks they have there lol
Yes, IKR. Partly because the prices are usually significantly higher than supermarkets or those HDB area's shops. But to be fair, I think they have improved a little on the food selection in the recent years. The prices of the food featured in this video is fairy priced imo.
They all look so delicious, I want to try them. I wish we had your 7/11s and they’re everywhere. I’d be there almost daily trying all the stuff. Love your videos, Shinici-San! Making me hungry one at a time.
I swear all 7-11 in Asia are better than the North American one... and it originated in the US. What gives.. (I know it's basically Japanese now) they should try to revitalize it world wide
The problem is the branding. Here in North America, we just don't expect 7-11 to have good quality food. They've tried adding things like pizza, chicken wings, meatballs and other stuff, but who is going to get gas station pizza if there are better options around?
Everything you choose look delicious! I haven't really tried the 7/11 food in Singapore but I love their calamasi drinks. I always stay near china town so I'm close to all the hawker food courts.
Thank you Shinichi for the review for singapore’s 7-11! HAHA we are way behind japan, korea and taiwan but to each it’s own~ For me I would only go for them when all the shops but totally love the chicken rendang briyani for my dinner and late night supper! It’s the first time I saw a popiah in 7-11 so even I’m surprised as well! Can’t wait to give it a try in the near future!!
As a Singaporean, I feel bad that I didn't even know 7-11 sells popiah. haha I think the local cuisine selection only started the recent few years, which is a good option when one is hungry in the night and there is no 24/7 coffeeshop in the area.
late to the party i just watched the grilled cheese rice bun video. i had a thought. rahter than corn starch to bind it, has anyone tried using a glutinous rice and making thai style sticky rice that sticks and binds together without a binding agent added for those who dont like corn starch? im going to try this was just curious if any had tried it out
I live a 5 minute walk away from a 7-11, and in 25 years, I've NEVER bought any of these meals! I'm going today, to get the biryani, popiah and nasi lemak, because of you 😂
Thanks for this video! It's always so much fun to see 7/11 foods from other countries. Some of these foods looked really delicious. I wish I could try the Hainanese chicken. That's the one that interested me this time. I hope you and Laurence will not make a trip to 7/11 when you are here in California...that would be sad when there are so many good things to do here. I used to visit 7/11 occasionally in college, but the only things I ever bought were a Sunday newspaper and sometimes a large diet soda! That is all. :-)

Hi brother! The only time that I set foot into our local 7-Eleven, is to use the ATM for cash or to purchase a lottery ticket. LOL! Thanks for sharing your 7-Eleven food haul with us! Everything looked so good! Especially, the Hainanese chicken rice-which is one of my favorites. I love the garlic rice that our local place serves with it, and the sauce-YUM! 7-Eleven America same like Australia, quite disappointing.. We totally love 7-Eleven in Asia, so many varieties and taste wise is good too! Singapore 7-Eleven is up to the game too. :)
I hv been to 7-11s around the world & I can say that Japan has the best 7-11 in the world in terms of ready-to-eat. Taiwan & Thailand follows closely behind. Those look delicious though
Greetings from Singapore! And oh my! I am a Singaporean and I haven't even tried any of the above food from 7-11 here. I only patronized 7-11 if my son wants a Slurpee. I usually cook Chicken Rice and Nasi Lemak. As for Briyani and Popiah, prefer to buy fresh-cooked/made. However after watching this, I feel like marching to the nearest 7-11 outlet to buy all those. FYI, the fish in the nasi lemak is fried anchovies. 😉
I tried Nasi Lemak at a hawker's centre in Morley in Perth. It was awesome:) Loved it so much. There was more awesome malay stuff I want to try and even a new zealander food place.
Yeah the ones in the US are not great at all. You really need to find the “gems” which even I haven’t found yet haha Glad to know I can grab a bite to eat at a local 7/11 in Singapore! I don’t t just people that buy food from 7-11 in America lol, the only reason I go to 7-11 is for a soda or slurpee since their gas is never particularly cheap lol
Hi Shinichi-san. When I see the title of this video, I was going OMG why did you go to the convenient shop for dinner?! This is because many foreigners whose first visit to Singapore and get their food/beverage at the 7-11 will get a shock why are the stuff so expensive, and they will have the perception that cost of living in Singapore is very high. I remember going to conbini in Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong or most other Asian countries, and the prices are more reasonable. Anyway, you have picked a good selection of food; Chinese (Hainanese chicken rice and popiah), Indian (Butter Chicken with Briyani), and Malay (Nasi Lemak). This also nicely represent the racial diversity in Singapore. Actually, the items you picked are quite reasonably priced, not the cheapest one can find at the hawker centre, but its definitely not the most expensive too. Lastly, welcome to Singapore, and hope you have enjoyed your stay here and come back again. :)
Adding on. I believe you have done much homework in Singapore. You know sambal and ikan bilis, which non locals (or even some locals!) will simply call them chili and anchovies. This is why I like your youtube channel alot, because you guys work hard to provide accurate information even in foreign land. :)
Best food in 7-Elven Singapore : 1. Nasi briyani 2. Chicken rice 3. Scallop chowder soup ( must be careful in picking up the fresh one, the scallop chowder turn sour easily if over expiry date ) 4. Chocolate Lava Cake The rest of the food are rubbish !

the 711 next to my place close down since they didnt have enough customers since the store was open between 2 kopi tiam and a 50 store food court
Elder Lich 7-11 will not close down bcos of no customer.
They have world wide outlet.

love u guys
Drooling over here in California.
Kenneth Archambeau hope you guys are ok in Cali !!
the sesame oil, you suppose to mix it with soy sauce.
yaaaay i love you both so much!!!
I would buy those for work and snacks we need this in the United States.
Best food in 7-Elven Singapore :
1. Nasi briyani
2. Chicken rice
3. Scallop chowder soup
( must be careful in picking up the fresh one, the scallop chowder turn sour easily if over expiry date )
4. Chocolate Lava Cake
The rest of the food are rubbish !
Nice one
