Back in 1999,,, while I was spying on my ex GF while she was working at Applebees I saw Tank walking from the Hilton hotel to Applebees. I pulled up giddy wanting an autograph and trying to talk to him. I walked in Applebees with him and they quit serving alcohol. A couple guys knew who he was and we all got into this guys car and went to a local bar. I wasn’t even 21. I’m 45 now. Tank snuck me in and he got wasted. After the bar closed we drove him back to the Hilton. He was smashed. But no one messed with him at the bar. A few people knew who he was too.
This was surprisingly great! Tank is super well spoken for an OG fighter, and Rampage/Bear did a great job of letting him speak without interrupting. Awesome job boys!
As a fan of the ufc from the early days as a kid this may well be one of the best podcasts I’ve heard hearing stories from the early days lots of stuff I’ve never heard and then his time in wcw with hogan and flair, to literally flatline from a stroke tank is doing amazing he is not even recognisable let alone to tell stories for two hours loved it 👏🏻👏🏻
This has been the best!! Tank is completely different character than I assumed. This guy is funny! I can listen to him talk about tito all day. "He's a slippery fish."
Good hearing from Tank Abbot but not gonna lie, seeing him now makes me feel old.. it’s crazy how much time has gone by since the days of Abbot, Coleman, Gracie, Frye, Severn, Etc.. I was a teenager watching them on VHS & we’d wear those tapes out watching them over & over. To see Tank old & wore out, thinking back to watching the Ultimate Fighter 1 on Spike TV to seeing what the UFC has turned into nowadays just made me realize how much time has truly gone by. What a freaking trip out..
Yup. Do you remember in the mid 2000s when all of a sudden everyone was an MMA fan? I still remember guys coming up to me if there was an event on at the bar, or wherever, and they would start to explain to me who, and what was going on. I would just laugh, and say "that's cute". I had been an MMA fan my entire life. I really just stopped keeping up with it in the past few years.
I bought and read all three of Tank’s books and they are fascinating and absolutely hilarious. For legal reasons Tank has to pretend it’s “fiction” but every event is exactly how it went down in real life including “Cheeto” (Tito) “Bart Shady” (Art davie) “Vinny diamond” (Ken shamrock) “Sea Lion Beach” (Seal Beach) “Sea Lion Beach Liquors” (Seal beach Liquors-which is still there today) “Happening Beach” (Huntington Beach) “Wong Beach State” (Long Beach State) and everyone and everywhere else from that time. The stories of the main character, Walter Foxx (Tank) are *exactly* the same as the stories from this show. Plus A LOT more. Details of his time in jail, how he came to find the UFC, daily drinking and driving with his pitbull companion, his dealings with Bob Meyerwitz (forgot bobs name in the book), big John being a bitch and on and on. I cannot wait for the fourth book about “Walter’s” adventures in pro wrestling. Buy the books. You help support a pioneer while having some fantastic entertainment to read on the beach or while camping this summer.
Can’t believe Bear made Tank ditch the Tito roast like that. Obvious attempt to change the topic, that was GOLD and the whole podcast could’ve been about it
I am normally the biggest Anti-Tank person, due to his poor sportsmanship, etc....but after watching this, I have changed my perception. This was a great interview and puts Tank in a positive light. I actually LIKE TANK NOW, which is something I thought would NEVER come out my mouth. Please bring Tank back for a Part 2 Excellent show & Guest
Death will do that to people. Everything gets put into perspective. Most people who have NDE's comeback very on the slab very different that when they were a week before the event(s).
Tank should be in the hof. If they put in cowboy because he was a fan favorite tank was the original fan favorite! 2 tournament finals and a heavyweight title shot.
Things Tank have said about Tito: -Tito stole a cheque out of Tank's truck and cashed it for $500 -Tito would call Tank's favourite bar, confirm he was there, then go steal from his house -Tito apparently starred in a low-budget porno called Rugburns back in the day
I have so much sentiment'ness for tanks era. 1996 was a rought time, first time out of alaska to washington, had a bad paychadelic trip and broke my mind. Took years to put my mind back together
I loved watching Tank fight on VHS tapes from Blockbuster when I was in high school. I Was always waiting for the next UFC vhs tape to come out after the shows Don Frye , Goodrich, Tank, were the most exciting fighters then. I realize my age and how long ago that was now after watching this. Good times. Good show!

I had the privilege when I was younger to have trained with Jeremy and I'd absolutely love to see him on here! Extremely knowledgeable!
Tank needs a part 2 of his stories and roasting fighters. Please bring him back.
Damn Tank should have his own podcast. He can chitchat like a mofo good storyteller
He does.. I think it’s called the proving ground
The only man in this world I've ever idolized Mr. ABBOTT TILL THIS DAY HE IS ONE OF THE BADDEST MEN TO EVER WALK THIS PLANET. SO GLAD YOU'RE STILL WITH US TANK YOU AGEING WELL..
Wow!!! This was an absolute time machine for me as a kid. Watching tank with my pops. One of the best mma old-school, new school whatever, pods ever. Please get a number two pod with tank. Love to hear about his fights leading up, pat Smith rip, story. Soooo mich shit to ask. Wicked podcast guys, thanks!
Tank is a savage, doesn't even look like the Tank we all know. Glad to see him well!
This isnt a podcast. Its The Roast of Tito Ortiz... haha Tank is a legend and just a awesome and interesting human being. One of my favorites so far on the pod
same with matt lytle, his podcast is an mma historians dream
Another legend. Jaxxon never misses
Your guy’s podcast is killing it! Never expect a legend on here. Fricken awesome!!!
STEVEN NEAL Ended up playing for the NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS with TOM BRADY. To transition from not playing college football to wrestling then playing in the NFL is one hell of a athlete
This legend made the mma glove popular
As a fan of the ufc from the early days as a kid this may well be one of the best podcasts I’ve heard hearing stories from the early days lots of stuff I’ve never heard and then his time in wcw with hogan and flair, to literally flatline from a stroke tank is doing amazing he is not even recognisable let alone to tell stories for two hours loved it 👏🏻👏🏻
This has been the best!! Tank is completely different character than I assumed. This guy is funny! I can listen to him talk about tito all day. "He's a slippery fish."
Such a great guest to have! Tank is the man!
We needed about 3 more hours to get this man's entire story. Tank is THE legend of legends.
Tank was the first fighter I saw around the ages of 9-12 and fell in love with the UFC. Great episode!
All i do is listen to podcasts. This is hands down one of the best interviews ive ever heard. 😅
Great to see Tank. Hope he can do more interviews. Would love to see him on Joe Rogan's podcast.
Tank is setting tito on fire in this interview
This interview needs more attention! Great job guys.
Thank you so much - Bear
This is the funniest episode to date, absolute gold! I love Tank. Listening to Rampage giggling in the background has made my day 😂
Great Podcast...Thankyou...I remember back in my early 20s renting the very first early UFC VHS Videos and Tank Abbott fights....I will never forget
Classic
I needed this to be way longer. You guys gotta bring him back!!
Can’t believe Bear made Tank ditch the Tito roast like that. Obvious attempt to change the topic, that was GOLD and the whole podcast could’ve been about it
Ikr, he should just stay quiet. Tito'd be a better cohost than this dude
This might be the best interview I’ve seen on the channel keep it going y’all love the content
I am normally the biggest Anti-Tank person, due to his poor sportsmanship, etc....but after watching this, I have changed my perception.
This was a great interview and puts Tank in a positive light. I actually LIKE TANK NOW, which is something I thought would NEVER come out my mouth.
Please bring Tank back for a Part 2
Excellent show & Guest
Death will do that to people. Everything gets put into perspective. Most people who have NDE's comeback very on the slab very different that when they were a week before the event(s).
Titos gonna try and set up a fight with Tank now like the third Chuck fight🤣
He doesn't need to fight. Tank was much smarter with his money than they were. He didnt buy Ferarris, and marry fast women lol.
Thumbnail looks like Gordon Ryan 😂
💯 👍🏼
Gordon when he is off the roids 😂
Jaxxon podcast is undisputedly the best MMA podcast ever.
Joe Rogan is a distant second.
Shaaadap
📈📈📈
@@sumguy1129I switched from JRE to Jaxxon. Joe rogan mma show has been on a decline
@@theunusualdispenser9474 don't worry tho he just had Tony Hinchcliffe on for the millionth time 😂
Dude I have been literally cry-laughing this whole episode.
Tank Abbott for VP !!
Tank is a true pioneer. His fights are epic! Good to see him on the podcast!
Good job Bear, your bookings have been really solid for months now.
Tank should be in the hof. If they put in cowboy because he was a fan favorite tank was the original fan favorite! 2 tournament finals and a heavyweight title shot.
If Matt Serra is in he should be
Things Tank have said about Tito:
-Tito stole a cheque out of Tank's truck and cashed it for $500
-Tito would call Tank's favourite bar, confirm he was there, then go steal from his house
-Tito apparently starred in a low-budget porno called Rugburns back in the day
Everyone (besides Rampage) knows that Tito is a liar, conman, and theif. Tito is the type of guy to steal from you and help you look for it.
I have so much sentiment'ness for tanks era. 1996 was a rought time, first time out of alaska to washington, had a bad paychadelic trip and broke my mind. Took years to put my mind back together
Best guest so far, hands down! Who knew Tank Abbott was so smart and eloquent!!
I loved watching Tank fight on VHS tapes from Blockbuster when I was in high school.
I Was always waiting for the next UFC vhs tape to come out after the shows
Don Frye , Goodrich, Tank, were the most exciting fighters then.
I realize my age and how long ago that was now after watching this. Good times. Good show!
Why are they wearing headphones. LMFAO the amount of times tank said Tito cried lmfao 🤣
Uncle Tank on the podcast 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Tank seems like the friend you want who’s funny as hell, calls it like it is, and could beat anyone’s ass who talked shit at the bar.
I don't know why but the "slippery fish" had me cracking my ass up. 😂
