Worked like a charm to fix my thumb latch that wouldn’t depress. My husband walked in as I was just finishing up and at first he was like “what are you doing?!?!? I hope you didn’t mess that up worse!” And I was like “nope, I fixed it!” And proceeded to show him how it works perfectly now! I love DIY UA-cam videos!
Thank you thank you thank you!! I took off the handle set to paint the door and had both problems (opening required lifting inside handle rather than pressing down, and after fixing that, the knob was hard to press to release latch). Even the instructions from the Schlage website weren't helpful. Hours later, I am finally done and it works correctly thanks to the video! I never would have figured these problems out otherwise! Thanks for this extremely helpful video!
Thanks so much! My model #F58 PLY 609 square drive shaft was 180 deg. off. It has never worked so good! It's 10 yrs old and I've struggled with it for yrs. until now. Great video and customer support!
Awesome! We moved into our house more than 2 years ago and have always struggled with opening the front door since the bolt never quite retracted all the way. We had a handyman look at it with no success.. So I watched the video, took off the doorknob, turned the shaft 180 degrees, and now it works like a charm! Thanks for helping me take care of a huge aggravation!
Followed the recommendations from the video; both sides of the inner workings needed rotation. Works perfectly and the refurbished door looks great! Just the help we needed, thanks.
Great video, it solved my problem! I couldn't get my lever to turn down, it would only go up. I knew it had to be an installation error but the solution wasn't in the instructions for some reason. I had to Google "door lever turns up but won't turn down" and luckily this video showed up. Maybe a more descriptive title might help grab some extra clicks. I almost didn't click this video but I thought why not I've tried every other video. Thanks for producing this!
Update: I took apart my door handle and unfortunately I can't just twist it like shown in the video. It's a Schlage Plymouth Single Cylinder Handleset and Accent Lever, Satin Nickel (F60 V PLY 619 ACC) that I got from here: amzn.to/3c3WXRh Do you have any idea how I could get this lever to turn down instead of up? I need to flip something around but I can't figure it out. Thanks so much :)
i can't believe 72,000 views and only 50 likes? best instruction vid I've seen all year! straight to the fix and good voice. i will check out this channel.
thank you! thank you! thank you! I couldn't figure out why I had to lift the handle to open the door, you showing the cam change was exactly what I was looking for. The Schlage website and their installation notes...forget about it! Oh - did I say thank you!
My latch would not turn far enough or release, but I could not rotate anything 180 degrees. Turns out I needed to pull the inside latch double "hole" horizontally (away from the latch itself).
I have a round knob on the inside and I can only turn the knob left to open the door. They tell me that is how it has to operate. It works fine otherwise, Can I get the knob to open turning either way?
I am unable to remove my Schlage door lever (similar to the one shown in this video). I removed all of the screws but when I attempt to remove the inside lever, it is stuck. Any ideas on how to get it off if it's stuck?
I was doing great until you said 'take the external handle set off'. How do you do that? I didn't see that detail in your video. My inside handle appears to be installed correctly but the outside is not.

Thanks. This helped me too. Well presented video btw.
Need help! When I depress the thumb knob my latch does not retract, just clicks . Lever on the other side of door works fine. Thanks in advance.
Thanks for the video! It made me look so smart in front of my wife
