How did you know? Who told you that I have a doorknob that has been sitting in the box for 6 months or more because I am afraid to install it? Who told you? Just kidding. This is the best, very detailed video. i was nervous about installing new handle until i found this video. the part where using a smaller 5/16 drill bit was a life saver. my instructions called for a 3/8 which would have been way to big. the part about the masking tape to center was genius, i followed your video step by step and my handle came out perfect and level. thank you for being so detailed and step by step instructions !! it gave me confidence to do this task !

The handles are different because right and left. You installed it upside down. Also, you’ll never be in the same place by punching through. I square it off and measure back. Taking or adding a 16th for the door bevel. Good job. Commercial superintendent here. I do TI.
Another great video! Just did this a month ago to my front door with a Shlage door handle pull. Had to drill a hole in a metal door like this one. Turned out good, but this video would've made it a lot less stressful. Happy New Year Fixer!

Great job; and great instructions. I agree with 1styoudummy's comment about drilling through the door from one side in order to ensure the opposing holes line up. Coming across your video is timely. I am replacing a basement door with a double patio door. I am installing a decorative door handle on the door. My first time installing one.

When I bought my home, I wanted to change the door handle. It was my first DIY project on my new home and helped me get tools. The old door handle had already drilled hole for the bottom so very easy to change out with the new one. Also, I’m surprised the bottom peg is adjustable on that Kwikset 🤯 That’s cool!

the itnerior door handle is the wrong one. its supposed to look like hair blowing in the wind. but other than that, i like these instructional videos for what many consider "easy" projects cause i was once new to fixing things and videos like these would have helped me tremendously. you are a saint. love your stuff. looking forward to the future

Thank you so much! I got a new handle and opened it and saw the template and wasn't sure what it was for. Thankfully I already have a long handle so there's already a hole and I just confirmed the hardware is adjustable so this should be easy!....I shouldn't have said that.

Can you use the template on both sides to match the holes?
First step would to be 1) Remove the door, quickly followed by 2) Sand and repaint.
Question 🙋♂️ what the purpose of these door handles with no lock ? I know deadbolts are the main but wouldn’t hurt to have just a bit more security?
Doesnt the bevel need to go on the inside? Its so easy to pop a lock open by pushing on the bevel
Can you drill that bottom hole in all door types ?
You come the closest I've found to solving my problem - but not quite solved! At minute 12:39-12:52 you describe installation of the "decorative button on the bottom - put it so the notch goes toward the bottom so if you ever have to take the the knob off." On my door, the bottom bolt is loose. Turning the button has no effect, so I want to remove the decorative button and re-screw the bolt. BUT... there is no notch in the decorative button. I can't figure out how to get the button off, or otherwise find a way to tighten the bottom bolt. Any ideas how to fix this out there?

Do you have to screw in the bottom of the handle? It’s screwed in at the top so it should still be secure without drilling the bottom yeah?

Hi Mr. I will appreciated if provide me with model number of the door handle pull you are installing. I need to fix mine or to buy it exacly the same so I do not need to make holes or cut for a different model. I just need to replace the indorr handle the one you that give you the option to put it in one way or in the other way up . the little allen screww is broken and i cant take it out. My is exactly the same like the want you have . thank you
On the handle, can you lock it from the inside?
I have a similar set but I can’t for my life drill that bottom hole. Using a new cobalt bit but it just won’t go. I’m using a no-name drill that someone gave me as a gift. Is it possible it’s the drill?

Fixer, where did you get the paper template used to ensure exact alignment with the door and pull handle?
my locks came with that paper template with the instructions
Strange handle and lock what I'm used to anyways.. Little tip when using cordless drill, screwing it not the hole way and tightening it with regular screw driver so that you don't over tightening and f**k up the screw hole. cool 😎 gg
Where do you insert the key?
Why didn't you use longer screws on the sticker plate? Just curious.
Hey, Tom! I just used the ones that came with the door. The longer screws are really important to add to the deadbolt plate as that is the locking part of this handle/deadbolt combo. Thanks for watching!
