@@gamerfreak2329 Well im afraid TV network watchers in that era were not ready for this masterpiece beacuse it was the era of cool action shows (not counting secret mountain fort awesome cuz that thing was cursed af) while internet and especialy newgrounds would realy welcome the no context promise of this show.
It wasn't good most of the jokes didn't land. I mean it did try new things and they get credit for that but it was mostly just random for random's sake. Random doesn't equal funny its just shot-guning ideas to see what sticks and if something is funny they either beat the joke to death or forget it ever existed. Idk it had it moments but never was a must watch.
5:51 this part was kind of sad if you think about it. His son was born with a deformity but his dad doesn’t want to tell him in fear that he might feel ashamed.
@@Bruh-ss7bd for instance there's a scene in the Steptoe & Son episode "Loathe Story" in which Harold dreams of his abusive father Albert beating him, which is a horrendously depressing concept but the execution is what makes it hilarious since in his sleep talking he does a silly impersonation of his father, sounding something like an old bat disjointedly cackling "I'll beat you! I'll beat you!!" it's both depressing and humorous, Steptoe & Son is a great show by the way, I recommend a watch.
I really wanted a YTP made for its 10th anniversary, but I don’t think it’s possible. The 10th anniversary is in 2 days and no new YTPs have been made.
Uncle Grandpa was under appreciated, like it’s a cartoon it’s supposed to look weird and be weird, that’s it’s goal, not everything has to be this big elaborate story with set up and character developement, sometimes it’s fun to just goof around
feel bad for ragging on this show, i did actually like it as a kid. it's just stupid, nonsensical fun and not everything needs to be deep or make sense. i think that's why it was hated, it was at the same time as shows like gravity falls, adventure time, steven universe, and regular show that were bigger in terms of lore or explored characters and their emotions and growth throughout the show. i guess that's what review channels (that i watched waaay too much of) gravitated towards at the time and anything else was considered bad. that'd explain the hate towards shows like teen titans go and clarence. it's too bad, since i think all of these shows deserve merit for being able to capture different feelings and styles. at the end of the day, art doesn't have to be anything. art is a creation that can be whatever its creator wants it to be (sometimes with corporate input which sucks but is what it is.) art can be sad, serious, scary, silly, stupid, angry, fun or whatever else and i don't think any of it should be considered "bad" as long as it achieves what it aims to be. uncle grandpa sets out to be and achieves being wacky and silly and fun and imaginative and weirdly entertaining, so i think it's a great show. definitely not the best, but it deserves some defense.
Same. The first episode I watched back in February 2014 was the episode where Charlie Burger loses his balls. I got into the show in 2016 and didn’t tell anyone.
The Amazing World of Gumball was also on at this time (and people seem to hate Steven Universe in hindsight) so I don't think it's a great argument. The biggest problem with the show is how tonally confused it is. Regular Show's entire premise is surrealism clashing with the otherwise mundane lives of some relatively normal people, and every episode follows that structure. Gumball is similar with weird characters living in a very normal, picturesque suburban setting, playing off those weird characters while still just being about a couple of teenage boys. Uncle Grandpa is just weird for the sake of being weird, so none of the jokes really stand out, and it's just like a slide show of random ideas tossed at the wall, and sometimes they do stick and can be pretty funny, but the fact that it's so inconsistent just turns people off
Im convinced this show was definitely meant for zaza and shrooms because as kids we probably didnt catch on to the absurd humor compared to young adults now.
The moment from this show that will forever live rent free in my head is the part where some mother was running from whatever while screaming “My baby!” before a guy in a car says “Her baby!” and then he crashes.
I just imagined A Breaking Bad -Uncle Grandpa crossover. Like Uncle Grandpa is Walter White Mr Gus is Gus Fring (ironically, there’s a background character in this show that kinda looks like Gus Fring) Pizza Steve as Jesse Pinkman Bruh why did I make this comment??
