Yes, they should be internationally famous. However, Emily once said in an interview that she likes not having her image plastered everywhere, so she can focus on the work.
Brilliant song. I love how the guitar player does a Keith Richards style guitar riff @ 1:24 to underline the "everything's been done" aspect of the song. Criminally underrated band.
2:52 The title is "dead disco". At this moment the inscription "DE" appears. The lyrics have so much in common with Disco Elysium that it’s hard to believe it’s a just coincidence
What the f- I have NO IDEA why they don’t get sssooo much more recognition.. Always killing it. They need to play more shows in Vancouver… big gollowing
Skip town. slow down Push it to the east coast Step down turn around Push it to the west Need less, use less We're asking for too much I guess Cause all we get is Dead disco Dead funk Dead rock and roll Remodel Everything has been done Tits out, pants down Overnight to London Touch down, look around Everyone's the same World wide, air tight No one's got a face left to blame And all we get is Dead disco Dead funk Dead rock and roll Remodel Everything has been done Dead disco Dead funk Dead rock and roll Remodel Everything has been done I know, I know you tried to change things I know you tried to change I know
listened to dr. blind when i was younger, then came back to this band trough scot pilgrim after downlouding their discography i kinda fell in love with this song. great band great song:)
I was living in Montreal when OWUWAUN came out. The clerk at Archambault music has JUST received the CD and we bonded over how fucking brilliant it was, we listened to the whole album together and had a love affair because of this album!
Holy cow! Just heard this on the radio and had to look it up. The singer has an incredibly low register, and she goes la la la la la la la la la, it's an entirely new sound. Never heard of Metric, but her name is...
This song's bassline is sooo similar to this song from the 80's: The Cure - "A Forest". I heard it on the radio in GTA Vice City stories and immediately recognised the bassline, weird isn't it?
Yep, it's obvious from the get-go. There are many songs that steal that baseline outright or start with it then tweak a bit. Simon Gallup deserves way more critical respect as a bassist. Everyone is on Peter Hook's dick but Gallup fucks him up.
There's a video of it live on UA-cam somewhere that's amazing. In the bridge she leans over the edge of the stage, singing "Are you gonna catch me? Are you gonna catch me?" Fits so perfectly with the lyrics.
I think you have to actually hate music to not appreciate Metric. So much music today is talentless bullshit but Metric is amazing. I haven't seen them live yet, but they are coming to my city next month! Hope I can get off work and go see them live.
@@teesk2912 I just randomly looked up this video and saw my last comments which I totally forgot about! But I saw them last night, so mission accomplished lol. They did not play Dead Disco
At first I misheard but now I willingly hear ''All we got is dead disco, Ted Bundy, dead Rock and Roll...'' Well when you got Teddy, your in deep shit man.
+Kevin Ulasovich Weird, I was just thinking about this. He reminds me of Charlie mixed with another character, but I can't think of who it is right now. D:
I'm so into this song!!! It's very cathcy , and it does sounds like Map of the problematiquè . Maybe the bass has the same sequence of notes , but we have only 7 of them ...so , some songs might have similiar harmonies...

the most underrated band ever
I agree.
julio hernandez I agree as well!
I rate them very high!
Yes, they should be internationally famous. However, Emily once said in an interview that she likes not having her image plastered everywhere, so she can focus on the work.
Maybe when they first came out. I'd say they are under appreciated.
wow im 30 now and I still remember the day I discovered this song at age 17 ugh good times
That baseline is just infectious!
The Forest 🌳 ❤
Shoutout to the real music people here in 2021 spring!
Brings me back to freshman year…. I miss Metric! Such a good song.
cuz all we get is DEAD DISCO! DEAD FUNK! DEAD ROCK n ROLL! reMODEL!!! everything HAS BEEN DONE . . . la la la lala LALA LA LA LA LA~
Heard this song on Much Music almost 20 years ago. Still sounds fresh all these years later.
I genuinely didn't know it wasn't new when it came up on a song radio just now. Somehow I've missed it for the last 20 years.
Brilliant song. I love how the guitar player does a Keith Richards style guitar riff @ 1:24 to underline the "everything's been done" aspect of the song. Criminally underrated band.
whenever i hear this song, i gotta play it twice, i love it so much
I’m on my second play lol. 👍
That’s me and every Metric song
The live version kicks ass!
I loved the music scene in Toronto at the time. Pure energy and talent pouring out of the cracks in the city pavement. I enjoyed every bit of it.
This band takes me back to the Punk/New Wave movement of the late 70's and early '80's.
Reminds me of Oingo Boingo even!
Love the lyrics to all of her songs, she has such a strong insight of life.
I love Metric. They never cease to amaze me with their entire catalog of music.
Grey's anatomy brought me here a while ago when christina was listening listening to this one and i love their songs
2:52
The title is "dead disco". At this moment the inscription "DE" appears. The lyrics have so much in common with Disco Elysium that it’s hard to believe it’s a just coincidence
I was thinking that as well
Unbelievable how underrated this band is!
2:46 love this part so much
Best highs and low ever. Emily just nails it every time.. (as well as the band as a whole)
That keyboard at the 2:20, so catchyyyy
What the f- I have NO IDEA why they don’t get sssooo much more recognition.. Always killing it. They need to play more shows in Vancouver… big gollowing
This is what got me into Metric! Gahhh Emily Haines is so amazing!
Shes so fuckin hot, I only wish I meet a girl that can rock like her...these days they all just want to listen to Nicki Minash or whatever her name is
***** her name is actually dinky garage haha
Tommy Carroll bro same. she's hot as hell, honestly lmfao
Probably my favourite Metric song. All these years later, it's still awesome and fresh
Love this with my 1000th commentary :-)))
1:03 them moves make my heart skip a beat... 😍😍
Anyone in 2024?...
Yes! Still listening to this 😎
They should remaster this song
Yes❤
We still here
A friend of mine just sent me a song of theirs and now I’m listening to some others
Yes mate🫡
I heard this alternative electronic bop while driving home, and I love the vibes! Disco may be dead, but this song sure isn't, 🪩
What an amazing song!! Been in love with these guys since "Live It Out". Love that record and am loving "Fantasies".
Time flies, fifteen years ago this.
Push it to the east coast
Step down turn around
Push it to the west
Need less, use less
We're asking for too much I guess
Cause all we get is
Dead disco
Dead funk
Dead rock and roll
Remodel
Everything has been done
Tits out, pants down
Overnight to London
Touch down, look around
Everyone's the same
World wide, air tight
No one's got a face left to blame
And all we get is
Dead disco
Dead funk
Dead rock and roll
Remodel
Everything has been done
Dead disco
Dead funk
Dead rock and roll
Remodel
Everything has been done
I know, I know you tried to change things
I know you tried to change
I know
Awesome - god they were young then
We all were.
I LOVE Metric!
Fuck. You.
listened to dr. blind when i was younger, then came back to this band trough scot pilgrim after downlouding their discography i kinda fell in love with this song. great band great song:)
Push it to the east coast
Step down turn around
Push it to the west

Emily Haines has an amazing vocal range.

One of the best artist of this area
Vintage Metric
Upskirt right in my face in SF. Good trivia.
still epic snowboard music, love it!
one of the many songs that got me through work.
i remember being a 15 year old when i first heard this, a long time ago now lol
I was living in Montreal when OWUWAUN came out. The clerk at Archambault music has JUST received the CD and we bonded over how fucking brilliant it was, we listened to the whole album together and had a love affair because of this album!
I love her when she s dancing! :D
Holy cow! Just heard this on the radio and had to look it up. The singer has an incredibly low register, and she goes la la la la la la la la la, it's an entirely new sound. Never heard of Metric, but her name is...
i love how Emily dances and i love her and i love metric
love the dance steps she does at 1:05
2014 still rad AF
2019 still rad asf
metrics best song I think!
Commentary on the music industry within music. We need to go deeper!
Omg that little shake at 1:03 is sooo hot!!! I watched it like 10 times!!! Metric is awesome!!!!
This song's bassline is sooo similar to this song from the 80's: The Cure - "A Forest".
I heard it on the radio in GTA Vice City stories and immediately recognised the bassline, weird isn't it?
They are obviously HEAVILY influenced by The Cure, 2 Amazing Bands
That's true
+Sergeeeek OK
Yep, it's obvious from the get-go. There are many songs that steal that baseline outright or start with it then tweak a bit.
Simon Gallup deserves way more critical respect as a bassist. Everyone is on Peter Hook's dick but Gallup fucks him up.
Funny, the song's about how nothing is new or original- almost as though it were...intentional?
that thing she does with her hips/legs, that twist, it's amazing! I wish I could do that
I would've loved to have seen this played live I feel like it'd be so exhilarating
There's a video of it live on UA-cam somewhere that's amazing. In the bridge she leans over the edge of the stage, singing "Are you gonna catch me? Are you gonna catch me?" Fits so perfectly with the lyrics.
Just saw them last fall and they played this song and I was deaddd in a discooooo.
I think you have to actually hate music to not appreciate Metric. So much music today is talentless bullshit but Metric is amazing. I haven't seen them live yet, but they are coming to my city next month! Hope I can get off work and go see them live.
Were you able to get work off??
@@teesk2912Haha, I guess not😢
@@teesk2912 I just randomly looked up this video and saw my last comments which I totally forgot about! But I saw them last night, so mission accomplished lol. They did not play Dead Disco
LA la lala la lalalaaaaaa Love the vocalist, feel the band & got dead ears!
I'm honestly say that I'm proud to know some lyrics from this AWESOME band!
It's hard to imagine but this gal is like 500x more talented in person than the impression you get from the screen.
So talented. So Canadian. So beautiful. Keep making AWESOME music.
This Band is phenomenal. I'm fell lucky to be in Toronto and then I can see them. Great guys.
Ah , so glad my parents actually enjoy the music I listen to.
*rocks out to Dead Disco with mother while cleaning kitchen *
I play all kinds of rock lol
Nirvana, Skycycle, and Metric
My dad doesnt mind but my mom.does
This song has one of my favorite endings in all music.
244 people who dislike this must be fans of 6ix9ine
Love how Emily switches her hips in this video. She never switched them this hardcore ever since. Her hips don’t lie. ❤
I saw them live and Emily did not disappoint. Crushing since 2009 lmfao
I love that little dance she does at 1:02.
Amo essa música , aliás amo tudo do Metric ❤ 🇧🇷
In Peru, this song was the soundtrack of the Peruvian Football League from 2004 to 2006.
Happy 20th anniversary to Old World Underground, Where Are You Now?
man i love finding amazing music randomly while on youtube
Who is still here in 2024 ?
Gonna see them in July
favorite song, love it, first metric song I ever heard, and now I love them, but this is still my favorite
At first I misheard but now I willingly hear ''All we got is dead disco, Ted Bundy, dead Rock and Roll...'' Well when you got Teddy, your in deep shit man.
dead funk. not Ted bundy lol loser.
Oldies But Goldies.
Thanks GOD! Best song ever from Metric!
First song of theirs that I heard. This album and Fantasies are Metric's best in my opinion.
Great song! Love Metric! Does James Shaw kinda remind anyone of Charlie from It's Always Sunny?
+Kevin Ulasovich Weird, I was just thinking about this. He reminds me of Charlie mixed with another character, but I can't think of who it is right now. D:
Kevin Ulasovich cool that u mentioned a fav band and a fav show u must be gay 😑 that's in no way an insult btw
its not about having a giant ego in the band, it is what completes and complements the song best.
In Mother Russia, Metric gets into you.
ha funny!
in belgium too !
Tashi call down
In mother russia your t34 for says за сталина
They got into me alright. I can't take this song away from my head!
I have never seen Metric but I really like there music. They have played in Buffalo where I live numerous times. Very good rocking band.
Sooo Russians like Metric?
This is cooldown
only if they are really really drunk
prana prana which is all the time. So basically yes
Emma Boisseau lol wtf eh 😂😂
Да
I'm so into this song!!! It's very cathcy , and it does sounds like Map of the problematiquè . Maybe the bass has the same sequence of notes , but we have only 7 of them ...so , some songs might have similiar harmonies...
You probably won't see this message but let me tell you that you have a really good taste in music.
And the starting riff is very similar to Map of the Problematiquè
Давай, тащи Кулдаун!!
ахаха
Super underrated song great bass rift
Gonna tell my kids this was Blondie

Opening del Fútbol Peruano de Primera División "Copa Cable Magico" 2006 en CMD, recien descubro el tema original...
My fellow Americans, there is great music in the land to our North: The Stills, Metric, Feist... need I go on?
Зашел послушать песенку,а тут уже все от Механика собрались:)
Listening to metric once again in Mexico 2020
