I always interpreted this song to be about anxiety- with the bridge being about her heart “beating like a hammer”, and worrying “if I stumble, they’re gonna eat me alive”. Then it goes into the chorus saying that everything is going to be alright- “if I’m still alive, my regrets are few” and “I get wherever I’m going, I get whatever I need”. This song is definitely in my top 10 favorite songs of all time and helped me get through a lot of my anxiety. Thanks Metric!!! ❤️❤️

I definitely agree on your interpretation.
My thoughts are that this song could be about stage fright or fear of rejection based on some of those very lyrics you mentioned. Also Emily’s father was the famed poet Paul Haines who committed suicide so maybe this song is about him? Anyways it also is in my top ten favorites. Love Metrics music.

This is my favourite song by Metric. Metric have so many great tunes so for me to put this at number tells you how much i dig this track. Friggin' awesome! They performed this on David Letterman and Craig Ferguson.

I was listening to this song in the workshop and I picked up a hammer and "played" along with it on an anvil. Now I can't hear it without the sound of a hammer and an anvil in the back of my mind. A great and timeless song.

I have read some of the reviews. Thank you all for sharing. This was the 1st song I heard from Metric and loved it immediately. During the climax of the Vampire Academy's 4th book, "Blood Promise," when Rose throws herself out of a window to escape from her love, Dimitri, that is trying to convert her into a Strigoi (the baddy vampires), this scene fits perfectly with the intro of the song. As the song plays on, the lyrics, "if I stumble, you're gonna eat me alive," could've been playing through Rose's mind as she is limping away into a maze, running for her life. This is one of many amazing scenes in this fantastic book from a wonderful series. This is what I now think of when I hear this song. Thank you for reading 😽

This song is about keeping separated dog heads alive, they discovered how to keep a dogs head alive without its body... just pumping reoxygenated blood into the head of it. The picture they show in the beginning describes what I'm talking about perfectly. And this does remind me of NBA2k10 I loved that game.
