During cavalry charges especially during times with iron plate it wasn’t uncommon for lances (especially spears) to glint off the armour and mostly just wind the person on the receiving end (alot of the disposable “break away” lances also didn’t penetrate much plate armour and was mostly targeted at areas not covered by plate. If the game was realistic, it would also have you drop your spear 98% of the time after stabbing someone (or risk losing your arm) while on cav and you would lose your lance after most hits. This wasnt very true during the bronze age, although some accounts especially in mythical books (iliad) there are accounts of spears shattering when the same metal or a lesser metal meets another especially bronze spears on bronze shields. Cavalry was mostly shock cavalry (fast quick attacks, very rarely if not ever charging straight at lines) throughout history. During the crusade im pretty sure lances which werent as disposable as later periods existed and iron plate armour.

Definitely, the mods help bring some realism to the game, like weapons dropping or breaking, which is great. One thing I think is missing is the effect of morale, specially when infantry gets charged by cavalry. Like you said, cav was used as a shock unit and in Bannerlord we have yet seen a mod that changes the way morale works and how it affects the outcome of battles. Something like a Teutonic knight would have devastating effect on enemy morale.
