I couldn't swim parallel to the shore though so what was that? Or was I somehow miscalculating? It was like I was swimming as hard as I could in place. I was literally stuck in the ocean and had to start screaming for help and waving. It had a hold of me for real. I was no longer in control. It's hard as hell to try not to panic when you realize you are stuck and wearing out quick. I'm pretty much a fish too in the summer. I love swimming 🏊♀️.
Can low tide cause these currents? I also couldn't touch quick. It was maybe a steep shoreline? I'm still confused though because I've dealt with a rip before and could get out, but this was different. I got snatched I guess 🌊
Experts are saying do not swim parallel now because a rip current can come from any direction. Just let it take you and it will eventually circle you back to shore or it will break off and then you swim back to shore but obviously not in the direction of the current.
