I like Nick's videos because when he's doing these type of videos, he sneaks in multiple tutorials in one vid. Now you know how to make a shield, stars, and more!
That's the idea
I can see you used one of his tutorials for your logo!! lol im an avid viewer myself.
Great video. I'm always happy to watch your tutorials as they have no distracting music playing in the background as you tutor. It is quite easy to focus plus you don't impose your music preferences to everyone else as a result of watching your tutorials. I am really grateful.
great video, I tried to follow but Inkscape from 5 years ago with the new version not getting same result. I'm lost 3:58 minute stroke to path. Thank you Nick
You should play a clip of a standing ovation at the end of each of your tutorials. ... You are so appreciated. Thanks, again.
Thank you for providing, easy, to the point tutorials without all the chit chat. I am learning so much from you. Great job!
Im moving from windows to linux right now. Im actually loving your content, just keep up the amazing work and tutorials. Cheers from Brazil!
Great!
Great move!
It's m'y first time on this Channel. I like the video and his content. I Begin using inkscape this year. Congratulations to you🎉🎉🎉🎉
From TOGO🇹🇬🇹🇬🇹🇬
our informatics teacher recommended us your channel and told us to recreate this as an assignment! good job.
I just found this channel and this is the first video I watch and lemme tell you this is not gonna be the last video I watch. Keep it up!
since I'm early there's something I wanna ask for.
what about a series of a long video about the whole logo design process, presentation and delivery to the client?
I think that would be super helpful if you do have the time for it, Nick.
great video btw ;)
That would be very cool to see. I'd add in the whole process of file management, saving projects/files, organization, file types, etc.
Hi Please when I trying stroke to path brake a part is nothing happens do have any tips what could be wrong
I love this, very concise and to the point, no time wasted at all. So much learned off the bat from just one video, I'm loving Inkscape already, Thank you!
“Looks pretty good”

I always appreciate these videos. Watching your videos has helped me tremendously with learning Inkscape. I've been able to apply those skills to design stencils that we create and sell, so I really appreciate the content. Thanks, from one Nick to another.
Always love hearing about people using Inkscape/GIMP and these tutorials to help them out in work, school or business. Thanks!
At around 4:00 when you do stroke to path my "fill" of the shield does not go away. When I then try to do path > break apart it says: No paths to break apart in the selection.
Can someone please tell me how to fix this?
Thanks
Ever figure this one out? I'm having the same issue.
same here, what good is it to put out a tutorial video, and not reply to anyone asking for help???
Tip to people following along in 2020, not sure if this is the right way of doing it but if you're having trouble with all the path steps not separating objects properly try I selecting objects and strokes using the 'edit paths by node' selector instead of the normal 'select objects and transform' selector
really need a new tutorial on how you do the path things with newest version. I can't make it work...
Nick,
as always, thank you for sharing. Nice way to start the day with a cup of tea and your tutorials.

I have just started playing with Inkscape and love your tutorials. One thing though is it not easier to make a triangle by choosing polygons and then three sides.
Wish you best of luck. Nice teaching.
I am stuck at Stroke to Path. It just doesn't work. I am using the latest version.
If this is free content I can only imagine what's on your paid courses. I fill get it next month.
Hi Nick, Pretty new to this and am following using Fedora, latest inkscape.
When I get to 3:15 on your video about breakaprt so you have the middle separate from the stroke mine will not break apart and if I continue to follow I end up having 3 stroke lines and instead of having the single white solid line between the fill area and the stroke.
I know I am probably missing something silly here however could you help me out with this or anyone who knows what this is as i have been trying to find out why i can't follow as you do.
Great video and hope I can get over this hurdle.
Thanks.
According to other comments, this seems to be an 1.0 issue. If you have the time to report this bug to the developers, please do it! This new version seems *very* glitchy though.
Pedro Paulo Suzuki I did post it on the forum and found a work around for some reason if I remove the fill and start with just the stroke then when get to the “break apart” part of the video it works, the fill area appears.
I experience the same thing. I kept on replaying the vid to see what I missed but I could not figure out anything. Please help.
i really apreciate your help with dowloanding this software
You're very good at eying alignments, it seems
Yeah I guess my eyes are well trained after doing this for so long
I play your tutorials at .75 speed - about the pace of my brain! (Plus the pause button of course.)
At around 3:10, when I clicked Intersection, everything disappeared.
Edit: I uninstalled and installed it twice just to make that thing work. Now I'm stuck again at 4:00 mark which is the Stroke to Path and Break apart. When I clicked those, nothing happens. It just says at the bottom: "No Stroked Paths in the Selection".
I also noticed that when I did that, the stroke width that I set to around 22 goes back to around 3.7 at the Stroke Style but the actual stroke is still 22 thick and you can't adjust it anymore. . It's so annoying when you thought it's fairly easy to do.
Man I love this channel already! This is what I want to do as a career and we even share a name
Stroke to path does nothing on my version of Inkscape, not sure what I'm doing wrong.
OK got it now from your other video, good work
Thanks Nick this is great. Learnig alot
Hey Nick! Really appreciate your videos and I've even subscribed to your academy. Slowing getting through it. One of the problems I am having and I've had doing other tutorials is around the 4 minute mark when I do stroke to path, nothing happens. I have no idea why and I've restarted the video a number of times to make sure I'm not missing a step. Any thoughts or suggestions?
The same thing happens around the 9:31 mark when we use green on the red arrow.
Hi MJ, unfortunately there has been a change to the way stroke to path works in the latest version of Inkscape. I have a video with a quick fix for it here: ua-cam.com/video/Sy0nUkUt9CA/v-deo.html
@@LogosByNick At new version Stroke To Path then Ungroup makes inner object getting bigger and overlay to the outer one it creats problem when cutting center color.
Hey Nick, new follower here having issues with the path to break apart
the part with of the difference thing thing on the red rectangle isnt working for me, should i watch a tutorial for version 1.2.2?
Amazing channel and videos. Thanks.
Wonderful videos. I learn so much from watching, and am so inspired by your creativity. Please keep them coming
How did the shield border turned into peach color without going to any feature or? was that a preset?
the break apart option is not working for me. can you please let me know what to do?
I am having problem @10:21 steps. Mine does not break out like yours. Please guide
what version does he have on this video or how do i change my icons?
Hello Nick, I'm following your tutorial, But however, When I go to stroke to path, my grey shape does not delete itself. I have ver 1.0.1. I was hoping you can help me out figuring out whats going on. Other than that everything is working fine.
This is because of an update that changed the way stroke to path works. I posted a workaround for it here: ua-cam.com/video/Sy0nUkUt9CA/v-deo.html
Amazing creation you should have above 5lakh subscribers😀😀😎😎
Why do you use pixels instead of mm/cm/inches? How do you know what pixels are equivalent to a proper measurement? thx
I made it so proud thank you Nick
This is a very useful channel, glad I've found it. I'm quite proficient with CorelDRAW, but I've been meaning to switch to Inkscape for years. While Inkscape is deficient when it comes to certain features, it has two huge advantages over Corel: it's free, and it works on Linux. CorelDRAW is one of the few programs that keeps me dependent on Windows, so I'm willing to lose some features just to move to Linux full time.
Good video!
I'm following along with Inkscape 1.1.2 but the Stroke to Path / Break Apart step isn't working for me. I know this video was posted back in 2018. Is there an alternate method to achieving the same thing?
same for me, i re did it 3 times thinking i screwed up but nope its just broken
On 4:04 stroke to path center didn't disappears.
On Inkscape 1.0, that is no longer the case. They changed it to make it easier to handle objects with fill and stroke data, so that users would not need to keep duplicating objects each time just to keep their previous fill data.
Wow! I'm new to Inkscape and this is phenomenal. Thanks for the tut.
hey there.....i wanted to say that in my inkscape,,,the step...stroke to path + break apart is not working....i dont know why....CAN YOU PLEASE HELP ME??
The solution I found was before the "stroke to path" part, you go to fill and no paint, then you can do the "stroke to path" and "break apart" part, and below the path button you can find some buttons that can bring the object to front and back.
@@silva_santos Thanks man! Had the same problem.
@@silva_santos thanks bro, i was having same problem
it doesnt working huhu what did i do wrong?
Jim Jimmy's got solution.
1. After setting the red stroke to 25 px, you need to remove the fill by either clicking on the [ X ] at the bottom of Inkscape or going to Fill > [x] in the "Fill and Stroke" panel.
2. Now you can do Path > Stroke to Path
3. Path > Break Apart
Phew, this one was hard to figure out since they changed the 'stroke to path' function. But I managed to get it right after many hours :)
How
@@chamchan-p9o Sorry, it is way too long ago, I stopped using Inkscape
Hard time trying to keep up, it didn't break apart for me 4 mins in so I stopped trying and started winging it, thanks for getting me my shield at least
Do you have a video on how to literally just upload a existing picture with texting it and be able to edit the text to say something else
this was beautiful to watch
I was just wondering if I could go pro doing logos with inkscape, thanks bud now I feel better
Happening now: Learning Inkscape along this tutorial :) Thanks a lot, Nick!
Stroke to path not working in new version. Or am I doing something wrong?
very helpful for beginner like me. thank you sir.
when i click stroke to path for the green triangle the shape cuts
New to Inkscape and when I get to the selecting path, stroke to path, path, break apart, it's not working. I've gone step-by-step with this tutorial and can't figure out what's going on. Any advice is welcomed!!
I made it !! Its awesome
Stroke to Path doesn't work for me, for some reason...
Great tutorial as usual. Thank you!!
ty, this helped so much
Great video, but I'm new to inkscape and even though your videos are really helpful, could you please make one teaching us what every tool and option does, because we're just following you in the video, without sometimes understanding why you do certain things in the video, thankyou
Finally logo design tutorial💙
Nick you sire are a legend.
If the Path->Difference doesn't work, try ungrouping everything and then trying it again. For some reason, I had things grouped and didn't realize it, and Path->Difference wouldn't work until I ungrouped the items.
What a great tutorial! This has made a very happy camper!
Loved it and very useful tutorial thanks a lot.
Finally make it 👍
Nothing happens when I click stroke to path :(
Thanks so much for creating this. Very helpful!
Thanks for the help Nick great video!
Hi Nick, I am very much convinced to buy your Inkscape course. I just have one question that are you sure that Inkscape can be used to design good logos? Till now I have used Adobe Illustrator but it is giving a big jolt to my pocket. Honestly, I am not able to afford it as I am still not fully professional. So I need a reasonable or if possible a free option. If Inkscape is the solution, then why not but it should be perfect alternative to Illustrator to design logos. Please clear my confusion.
Thanks & Regards
Neha Gupta
Nice awesome job!
Nice video. You're really detailed, will be coming back in the future for a refresher. thanks.
you are the best! thank you so much for these awesome videos! much love from Nigeria!
nice, God bless
After making the intersection, I make the stroke but when I apply stroke to path and then break apart, the image doesn't separate :(
me to idk why
Because inkscape makes it a group now, so you need to right click, ungroup
@@IeuanAlli wait u know how to do it. If u know can I get your social media so we can talk cuz I rlly need to know how to do it my Instagram @_tankerax_
at 6:40 its not working im duplicating and clicking the black shape in the center and pressing diff etc and i cant get it to work do you have any tips or is their a newer video with the problem adressed i appreciate it
same idk why
Around 4:20 when I take the outer shape and stroke it, it creates a stroke around the inner perimeter of the shape as well. I even tried the newer method you posted about the Object>ungroup instead of the Path>break apart
I had this same issue. Very frustrating. My workaround was to break them apart then delete the inner perimeter. Hope this helps.
Can you give us tutorial for logo presentation in inkscape?
NIck, why not just use the triangle shape tool for the top an bottom borders of the text?
Another good tutorial. Came out great
Fantastic Video! Thank you for posting.
Your´s videos help me a lot!!!Thanks!!!! I like to know how i can export a created file to a cutter machine ??? I have a roland stika.
brilliant video
Great tutorial! I have enjoyed this tutorial very much, but for some reason all of my colors seem watered down. Any idea on how to change this?
Hope someone helps me but when i go to path one i click stroke to path and break apart nothing happens. Im not sure why. Someone help
Hi Nick, I love your work and your tutorials have helped me tremendously. I need to know something. Do you have any advice on how to match a font on a picture? I have tried several font identify type of sites but I can not get a match. Is there something on inkscape that can help?
THANK YOU NICK!
Amazing vid! So much info in one, very grateful to have found your channel! Liked and subbed!
Excellent video, great presentation
Greetings from Greece Nick! Nice tutorial for me that i have no idea how to design a Logo or anything else by myself! I wonder if i can use this Logo for my virtual team in a game. I aslo wonder why when I try to save it only appears a segment of this instead of the whole (about the half)
Wow I love your video's! I would also love an explanation what the functions are doing. What does STROKE TO PATH, DIFFERENCE and the other terms actually mean....might be easier for some of us to remember when to use them. Thanks for the vids!!!!!!!!
This doesn't work for me- when I set a stroke and have the fill on 50% transparency, and the stroke on 50% transparency, I get a weird cross-colour, and then stroke to path -> break apart doesnt work
Its really hard for us to understand in the very newer versions. Can't keep up with it.
Nick, i cant find the snapping menu i use 2022 version
Almost everything doesn't work in Inkscape when I want to those things. The program simply doesn't respond when I click on something. I don't know what to do.
what version of inkscape u are using pls tell
