I do not believe it is an overstatement to call this box set a work of art. It truly is a feast for the eyes. The individual pieces of the feast (e.g. 30 CDs, books, posters, autographed photos, press kits and the cool flexi disc) are well deserving of the beautiful visuals that highlight them. This box set is an example of both substance and style that is top tier.
Thanks so much Alan, Ash were virtually unheard of in Australia back in the day, yet Quo were enormous here, particularly in the 70's - strange days indeed.
That first disc is called a flexi disc. Madfish do great box sets as you can see from you Wishbone Ash box. I always love when box sets are autographed.
Very cool. Never purchased a box set that extensive and expensive. Probably spent the most on the Beatles remaster box set. I recently purchased the Rory Gallagher box sets of his first two albums. They are excellent.
Hi Alan. Madfish has released some amazing box sets. I keep looking on Amazon to see if the Laura Nyro and Al Stewart sets come down to a price I can justify ... I really wish now I'd taken the plunge on the Pretty Things, Gentle Giant and Wishbone Ash sets. This video is the first time I've seen someone show Wishbone Ash's 'Vintage Years' ... There are people out there who collect flexi-discs. They were popular in the UK as a promotional tool for businesses (often not music-related) and bands. There was even a magazine in the UK called Flexi-Pop back in the 1980's which came with a flexi-disc in every issue ... Beautiful looking book. I also like the gate-fold sleeves on the CDs.
Yes - I wish I had gotten the Gentle Giant and Steve Hillage boxes. The Al Stewart has 50 discs - incredible. Yes - Flexi-disc. Was on the tip of my tongue and couldn't think of it...lol. Thanks.
Carl, I wish I had gotten the Pretty Things box too. I did pick up the Final Bow which was autographed. Not long before the unfortunate death of Phil May.
@@davidkunzli680 I did get to see the Pretty Things live a couple of times in their last few years together. I thought that the box set was just too much money.
The madfish boxes are expensive but you get so much. This is the only one I've bought because of the cost but I had to have this one. My favorite box for sure. Thanks again.
What if every to act offered similar box sets? Boxtops. Boxer. Box of frogs. The 1971 shows are hard to beat. Did it offer bbc. Have the bbc 1972 concert
Saw ash open for Steve Miller band in 1972 at cowtown ballroom kc. Destroyed Steve Miller band. Love argus and their bbc1972 disc to this day. Laurie wisefield no thanx.
That's amazing you saw them in 1972 on the Argus tour - wow - you really are the real deal - what a music history you have. Amazing. Why the hate on Laurie. I think Live Dates Vol. 2 and Hot Ash are incredible live albums. And Lauries lead solo on the live version of Living Proof is amongst my all time favorites. Lifeline off of Just Testing, Persephone off of There's The Rub. The whole New England album is my favorite Ash album. So much great stuff there.

@@SpenceCurry amazing stories. Thanks for sharing. I’ve tried to get into Rush. My friends love them. I can only take them in small bites. Love your Suede story and the boots. I came late to them and love them. I love the instrumental Ash album Neavou Calls. Love it. The follow ups Hear to Here and Strange Affair were also strong.

The company that does them is Madfish. They’re amazing.

Thanks. Interesting info. Had no idea of both bands popularity in Australia. Figured Ash would’ve had something there. Thanks
