AAJAA5 I have the upgraded 21” rims on my X5 which come with performance run flat tires, and you can barely hear them. You can’t judge the sound quality of ANYTHING through a video, whether it’s the exhaust note, stereo system, or road noise. If you’re older than 10 years old, you should know that.
AAJAA5 I will agree with you that the performance runflats are less comfortable than the all seasons, as the X5 I test drove a while back with the all seasons. However, the difference is minimal. Also, I would know this as I have performance runflats for 6 months of the year (summer tires) and more meaty tires the other 6 months (winter tires).
AAJAA5 also I don’t know where you live, but here in Canada, like 50% of people with bmws have runflats on their summer rims.

unfortunately I can't afford an M or an AMG but I do have a 330e and C220d coupé and even tho, you're obviously talking about performance cars, I get that exact feeling driving both of them. My 330e when kicked hard does pretty well and you can really feel in control of it has you mentioned.

Yesterday I heard this car in real life, what a beast! Many times better than in a video. Not to loud but very noisy.

Update: I had a test drive with this car, really much power and the sound is very good but it's boring to drive...

It's just an M-Performance model and not a real M.
And it's to comfy for such a car and have a indirect steering.
@@Nades- I'm from Germany, so I had the EU Version with OPF for a day as a test drive.
The sound is really really good and really loud for an OPF car.

@@malaka5176 I own this car, and I've owned the prev. Gen M3.. I'm glad I made the switch. You can drive this car like a 'normal' 3series very comfy/luxury. And when you want that M3 feeling you just put it in sport. Voila. With the M3 I did miss the luxury feeling. Def. no comfort at all. It was just pure sound and power.

Surely this has got to be an OPF car, but how come this one sounds so much better that other OPF cars. I test drove a 2020 UK car and it sounded just like this, but then others don’t sound this good. Including your video on the touring model. 🤔

Wich colour is it ?
Maybe a silly question, but how does the back end still slip out of these when they are xdrive? I wanted a M140i but feel they are death traps to a non petrol head but love the B58 so thought M340i with awd would be perfect - seems they are still pretty sketchy lol
They're incredibly stable. xDrive pushes power to the rear until it detects loss of traction, then it pushes the power forward to correct the slide. It's super fun without being scary.

@@chrisg.8669 I'm not comparing both in a competitive way, but how they sound similar (inline-6's and V12 have similar sound frequencies) and how they look a bit like each other (obvious, BMW identity). Basically like two siblings, one older and the other younger.
The M760i v12 is a beast the Torque from a twin turbo 6.6V12 is on another level it makes light work of the heavy 7 series body and still feels alot faster then a M140i, the B58 engine is a bitch compared to a 6.6 twin turbo V12
@@Roddy_Zeh they both don't need counter weight for the crankshaft, that it, but a V12 especially a twin turbo 6.6 V12 way superior to a 6 cylinder engine in producing power and torque, put the 6.6V12 into the new 3 series chassis you will feel the difference belive me 😁😁😁😁

Yes, i am pretty sure OPF is onside. OPF doesn't make such a big difference like people say/think. Also it's the M Performance Exhaust System.
@@serrapedro8082 I listened to the US version and it was definitely louder. The biggest difference is the lack of farts on the upshifts, and it's the same on the 330i. Any idea why this is?
@@trihardcx6743 The US version is not so strictly regulated with the OPF. Without this filter, the car sounds different, whether 30i or 40i. But BMW did very well with the OPF, instead of using a large filter, they used 2 smaller ones in diferent places. The sound is really really brutal and farts properly. It doesn't come across in the videos. 6 db have been lost, but that's ok.
Serra Pedro BMW has apparently sent out a software update last year that reduces the burbles and pops even more. I’m wondering whether the car in the video has this update or not.
@@serrapedro8082 Yeah I know that, it was mainly the farts I was thinking about. I can't find any YT videos where they're audible on the EU version. The 330i doesn't have them even with an aftermarket exhaust, which makes me think they have to be engineered in.
How an X-drive could drift like this ?
@Mandje Tichelaar just in Sport Plus and DTC Mode. In comfort or Eco, the AWD-feeling is more present. So BMW like more to the rear.

@@SARVJOTDHILLON They put it on sport mode and all the valves opened, hence the different sound.
This exhaust in real life sounds broken and leaky (cold start). Kinda sound like a r33 skyline gt-t with cheap diy cat back system. First bmw car that sound awful like that, I was shocked when I heard it the other day. In the video it doesn’t sound too bad,

Ekseg Mekseg Denke dass das Video noch mit der alten Software gefahren wurde als sich das Auto noch gut angehört hat. Nach dem Softwareupdate ca. Juli 2019 hat sich der Sound massiv verschlechtert
Mellamo Marcel Die EU vision konnte man ja erst ab den 01.07.19 bestellen, habe meinen dementsprechend erst in Dezember bekommen. Also theoretisch dürfte es keinen einzigen M340i EU mit altem Softwarestand geben. Was ich mir vorstellen kann, dass die Fzg. für den Deutschen markt nochmal leiser gemacht wurden.
Wenn es nur die Software sein sollte, würde es doch bestimmt die Möglichkeit geben es wieder zu programmieren ?
Ekseg Mekseg Sollte schwer sein an den alten Softwarestand zu kommen. BMWs Abteilung Baureihenmanagement behauptet dass es keine Softwareänderung vom M340i gab. Dennoch gibt es genug Videos auf UA-cam die was anderes zeigen kann dir mal privat paar Beispiele schicken

Pretty sure it is. They installed OPF in mid 2018, so it should have it here in the video. OPF isn't such a big diference like everybody thinks.
how reliable are these turbo charged petrol engines? like 330i or 320i?
These are more reliable than the 4 cylinders
