- Are you still sleeping of this Independent German Watchmaker? Dornbluth & Sohn 99.0 Hands on review.
Dornbluth & Sohn in an independent watchmaker from Kalbe, Germany. They make beautiful hand made watches. Most are ETA 6498 based but have in the last few years release their version of a manufacture movement.
As an American, I am fascinated by German Watchmaking. That includes cuckoo clocks from the black forest region of Germany. I believe German watchmaking is vastly underrated and under appreciated especially compared to its Swiss counterparts. Long established brands like Laco, Stowa, A Lange & Sohn, Glashutte Original, Sinn, etc., demonstrate excellent quality at various price points. Dornbluth & Sohn is no exception to this.

Informative video. Thanks
I'm glad these brands are getting the attention they deserve.
Great review of an under-rated brand. Nice to see. Lots of hand finishing (and history even) by a father and son team with lots of incredible offerings.
I'm planning on going there on my next visit to Germany. I love the artistry and craftsmanship of this brand.
Beautiful piece! Classic pocket watch/vintage vibe…so clean! I’m with you, I could stare at that movement all day!
I own the Cal. 99.1M. it's 40mm case diameter, 50MM lug to lug, and 10mm thick. I have 6.25 inch wrist. It still feels like a big watch due to the thin bezel but man it's gorgeous and one of the most legible dials I've ever seen. I bought the solid sterling silver dial. way it plays with the light... it's breath taking.... then you turn the watch over and my jaw was on the floor. I like the decoration more then Lange or Patek. Amazing watches and real old world customer service. My fav. brand and not to flex but I own pretty well know more expensive watches then this one. I plan on ordering Cal. 99.6M next. Very special watch manufacturer. Congrats on yours and extra points for that awesome Slayer sweat shirt! I have one of those too! 😁
Beautiful review, great they have a smaller version at 40mm which would fit perfectly
Looks beautiful! Gotta love that German watchmaking! Glad to see the micros getting some attention... another one you might want to check out is Felipe Pikullik who does similar work. @SwissaWatchGang reviewed a commissioned watch and interviewed maker a few months back. Moritz Grossman is my grail brand and goes well beyond a microbrand, however, some of these small makers do equivalent finishing to MG.
thanks for the comment. I have checked out Felipe Pikullik. Unfortunately the list is around 2 years for a watch now.
Beautiful watch!
Love this watch and brand 👍. Great video!
Thanks for watching!
Wow, what a nice watch!
Really nice watch, and excellent video! 👏
Thanks Chaz!!!
Classic look!
Looks a lot like the Stowa marine. A watch that I’m been admiring but this looks very good too
You mentioned 53mm lug to lug? There is a medium version that was supposed to improve the dimensions?
slayer!!!!
🤘
👍
