Well I prefer camping in the hills with the trees rather than in the flats with the dirt and this weeks program is a good example why. Keep on camping.
WTG Marc - kudos being a good samaritan... the real deal. And many thanks for sharing your disbursed camping areas around the Sierras, looking forward to following your footsteps. Happy trails, Michael and Grace
Great to hear from you both, thanks for watching! The next two episodes are technically the California Cascades rather than the Sierras, but that's a distinction with little difference.
@@GrandAdventure Awesome and when I grow up, I wanna be like you - so in the interim I'll settle to vicariously living through your videos - UA-cam and Grand Adventure at their finest. Many thanks my friend, IMHO it's all paying handsome dividends and we thank you for your passion and support
If you're going to tool around on backcountry trails it's important to have extrication gear with you. The guy stuck in the creek rode with his buddies for about 5 miles to reach our camp and ask for help. If they had a strap and shackles they could've used their own second vehicle to pull that CR-V out.
I will have to check that place out. Just 2 1/2 from my house in Ca. I'm 45 miles east of Sacramento. Johnny Utah and the Homie show. Great job. Thanks Don
That's my stomping ground of 60 years, and coincidentally just got home today from there. Used to be nobody around and we'd shoot 22's and bb guns as kids with instructions from our mom of "don't shoot a cow". 😄 That was open range and they actually drove cattle down hwy 88 to the foothills at end of summer. The County opens the gates on the main road incrementally as the snow melt dries up so people won't get stuck and/or rut out the side roads. But obviously it happens anyway! It's also famous for man eating mosquitos.
Love it...Tahoe is my favorite place on earth....Probably been there more than 100 times in 66 yrs...Especially my skiing yrs..Havent done that in 3 yrs....Got married there twice LOL !! ...Am a big fan of the area your in right now although have never camped your spot...Great BBQ place in Tahoe there on 89 headed to Emerald bay as you came in called Sonny's BBQ....Lot of good mountain hiking over that way too...ENJOY that area !! If you ever get the chance being your a skier , ski Homewood on West Shore, you wont believe the views...
I can believe it. Homewood is one of the few substantial Tahoe ski areas I haven't skied. It's been a while, but I've hit Mt. Rose, Squaw, Alpine Meadows, Sugar Bowl and Kirkwood. Never had much desire to ski Northstar. And yep, saw Sonny's -- it was packed!
@@GrandAdventure Northstar not a bad place to ski...They got the little small village there at the resort also...I imagine its alot nicer now since the last time i was there too and it was nice then...Bit pricy, but most are up in Tahoe...No Heavenly ????
Marc, That has to be the best kayak outing I have seen you do so far. That water is so clear and beautiful... together with those incredible round boulders makes this a five star kayak video. Loved the underwater shots as well, showing how clear it really is. That and the refection of the sky at certain angles making the water surface appear azure blue. Real eye candy for sure. Those are among my favorite shots of any Grand Adventure you have done. The mountains are great but this water is outstanding... You found another great camping place, looks like Zoey was enjoying the snow too, lolol. The area was really nice looking, the lake water was very clear, enjoyed the kayaking trip. Guess you never know what your going to get into sometimes, like even a towing and recovery adventure, nice video, travel safe.
Thank you David! In most cases I actually prefer having a static tow strap to gain momentum. If we had a kinetic strap Homie never would've gotten that Jeep Rubicon pickup out of that snow bank.
Nice video!! This is our stomping grounds! North Tahoe is definitely less crowded than South Tahoe. Great kayaking footage and showing just how clear Lake Tahoe is. Did you feel the altitude when you went paddling? Saturday at the beach in summer in Tahoe is a tough one. As a side note they were fighting to keep people from moving up there and spraying fertilizer and such on their yards. All this was starting to run into the lake and making it lose its clarity. I think wiser minds prevailed. You’ll see bumper stickers stating “Keep Tahoe Blue” from time to time. Your boondocking spot definitely looks good for us. Thanks for being good Samaritans. Thanks for coming into California. Ram 👍🏼👍🏽
Thanks Ram! Agreed, I prefer the area around Tahoe City myself, but the camping opportunities are better south of the lake IMO. I've spent the past 20 years living at 5,000 feet and recreating at 10,000-11,000 feet, so no issues paddling Tahoe. Yes, the movement to maintain Tahoe is very strong, and has been for many years. It's also stymied some ski area development surrounding the lake over the years.
I went to Blue Lake last Monday (6/27) after watching this video. I have been by this road many times but never had time to go down it to see what was there. I believe I found your spot, but I don't think I can get my rig into there because of the road drop-off. But there are other spots so we will be going there soon. It's just 26 miles from the house (about 3.5 gallons of diesel) and about 10° cooler.
Excellent Steven! I'm guessing that you identified the wrong spot as ours because there was no road drop-off. There's a Google Maps pin to the precise location in the video description.
Dang it! Missed the Premier again. But thoroughly enjoyed a replay. Lovely spot. We could definitely get our Class A in there. Very nice of you and Homie to help out those individuals. Thanks!!!
