  • Hot Tent - winter camping - Polish Army Poncho and Luxe Megahorn
Thank you for taking the time out of your life to look at this.
In this video I spend a day in the wilderness winter camping.
I am fairly new to hot tent camping in snow storm.
Spent most of my camping days enjoying the outdoors in summer time.
Hot tent winter camping is quickly growing on me. First of all...
Bears are asleep. Secondly... There are no mosquitoes, flies, black flies, deer flies, pine bugs, etc.
    It's also absolutely beautiful.
On this trip I try out my recently acquired a Hot Tent Wood Stove. I also bring with me the Polish Army poncho tent and a Luxe Megahorn tent
Open to suggestions regarding the smoke :)
The name of the hot tent stove in this video is WWW Stove
    Enjoy the video.

Had a condensation issue. The soot from the flue started coming down the pipe and ending up outside. Burning up and creating a ridiculous amount of smoke. Replaced the faulty part with a 3 inch heating duct. Should do the trick. Will see on the next trip. Heading out this week.

I'd probably be much better at it now. A little challenging the first time but rolls up like a charm after a season of use. It works really well. The weight of the whole setup is a bonus as well. Thank you for watching.

The more you heat your stove the pipe will break in and want to be a tube and roll up easier. You should have done a pre burn before you went out. It would have cured the pipe and stove creating shape and burning off toxic oils on the surface. Always set up gear before heading out so you know it well and are sure you have all the pieces. Nice window and great equipment. Have fun 😊❤️🇺🇸❄️☃️🛷⛺️

Winter camping is the best ! My favorite time of year ! I just got a luxe minipeak xl ! Looking forward to getting out there in it . Maybe this weekend ...... I have a polish lavu poncho as well . I have found the trick to smoke is to have a ripping fire . Get it going and keep it going . don't let it smolder .....Hot tents are awesome . I roll out my pipe differently than you do .....that is interesting ! Shoulda done the pre burn at home ...but it looks like it worked out well enough ! That is a nice set up you have there ! A neat little trick to the woodstove is to make sure the rear of the stove is slightly higher than the front of the stove . Really helps the draft. Seems to work well for me . Those stoves get ripping red hot ! Such a great piece of gear . They throw some heat for sure ! I'm new to your channel ! 1st time here ! Subbed ! Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas! -Justin

Hike Paddle Bike I have a small tent that’s easy to heat. Yes I love going to bed warm. I prepare kindling and relight the stove in the morning. So nice to start sleeping or morning warm and not fighting to get warm. No need to heat water in a bottle or some method of putting something warm in your sleeping bag to try and heat it up like during cold camping. Dry clothes and snowmobile helmet, breakfast and coffee is a great start 😊❤️🇺🇸❄️☃️🛷⛺️

I have to say the Polish Lavvu was the warmest to date. Saw 30C inside. The Megahorn warmed up to about 22C. It all depends on the size of your tipi interior. The more space, the larger the stove should be.

    • @WildernessBushcraft
      @WildernessBushcraft  4 роки тому +1

The stove I used works much better without the spark arrestor installed. In this video it was already off, since the last trip. All the burn holes are from our October outing in Algonquin. Works much better without the spark arrestor on top of the chimney pipe. It bounced the Sparks back down towards the tent. Not an issue any more.

Hello and thank you for watching.
You point out very important aspects of being alone in the forest.
Completely alone with no one but yourself to turn for help. It can be very scary when things go wrong.
This however brings up my point " Always Be Prepared" Bring with you an emergency kit, every time you go out to the woods.
Always have two way communication with you. In my case I carry a satellite phone with me. We have no signal reception in the wilderness here. My friend uses a messenger which is much cheaper. explore.garmin.com/en-CA/inreach
/ IT is also a two way communication device, which makes it pretty awesome. Me? I don't bring GPS like his. I use a map and always know my location on it. My recommendation for everyone is to have two way communication when you go alone. With friends, someone will always help. Alone, "You" are your best shot.
The tent used in the video has no floor but it has a mosquito net inside, with a floor. I don't use it in the winter because there are no mosquitoes around and anything put down gets wet. Slightly different approach but it works very well in my opinion.
I agree that nature can be cruel but at the same time, it is so beautiful and full of adventure awaiting around every corner. My life has been shaped into what it is today by the outdoors and places I've seen. I would not change it, even a little bit. Just love everything nature has to offer. Stay tuned for upcoming epic trips. I have so much to share with you this summer.
Thank you very much for watching.
      Regards,
      Patryk
