Garrett Pro Pointer review
i would have liked to see an air test on all of these to see how far away they can pick up a coin or ring but thank you for showing us that they all do what they are suppose to
I found a another crazy trick earlier with my no name 50 dollar pinpointer. If I put a tiny screw out of a pair of glasses under the thumb of the hand holding the pinpointer and slide the screw slowly forward until the pinpointer starts beeping while holding a nickel 4 inches from the tip of the pinpointer, then move the nickel away it stops beeping, but then if I move the nickel four inches from the tip again it detects it. I got five inches once. Now I can "prove" I have the deepest pinpointer in America. Try it with your pinpointers. How could this effect be used in the field for a temporary depth boost using a metal detector?
Id buy one carrot over 4 bamboos.
Thank you for sharing these budget pin pointers. Like you I went with Budget. I got the Garrett Pro Pointer as a Gift and I bought the Scuba Dive By Nokta Makro and I still use the Garrett the most.. The GP I like and I have a couple other low cost pointers.. Man this hobby cost us a pretty penny to find stuff that works for us..lol
Thanks for sharing!! I want the Garrett Carrot really badly. However, I am not advanced enough in this hobby to justify spending $120+ on one of those. If I went out to multiple places weekly, then I would not hesitate to get one. I am hoping I get a Garrett from a family member for Christmas. So far I have been using the Dr. Otek pinpointer for 3 days in a row and it has been better than all the other cheapie pointers I bought. My GP Pointer has been my go to pointer for the past six months until now. Sadly the GP Pointer barely gets much depth over a 1/2 and inch to 1 inch.
@@FuturesPast1 I went a few years without a pinpointer.. when I started out. I dug ran detector over plug and hole used my hand to wave in front of coil for some time.. So even if you are starting out well at least you have a pinpointer that does the job..
Like you, I’m a modern day novice. I started as a child with a D-tex Metal detector and never picked up the hobby again until recently. I do have a Garrett carrot that I was able to purchase as a “ like new “ from a dealer online. Saved me about $60.

Aren't pinpointers supposed to be for closeup pinpointing after locating with a big more expensive coil detector?

Yes. As I explained to you earlier the first tool to use is the big metal detector with the coil. Once it notifies you of a target hit, you dig up the plug and the pinpointer will help you find your target usually within an inch of where it is hidden. Without the pinpointer, you would be ripping your hair out trying to find the object, lol.
The only thing about the cheap ones is there hit or miss, on if they will work

That is true. What is good though is Dr. Otek has a one year warranty They already replaced my metal detector when it broke with no questions asked. The rest of the brands may not be so helpful if their items break.
Have you tested the sunpow in water yet I have one I would love to know if I'm gonna ruin it or now by metal detecting in a river
I wouldn't fully submerge the Sunpow in a river or under too much water if I were you. It is not completely waterproof like they say. You can just get the tip wet most likely. I am almost 100% sure this thing will die if fully submerged despite their claims.
I think the Dr Otek brand pin pointer is way better than the Sunpow, but it doesn't beep and only makes vibration alerts. I've used that one under water for a little bit and it was okay so far. However, none of these cheap ones, will hold up for long under water even despite their claims.
If you want to go fully waterproof up to 20 feet, I would go with a Garrett Pro-Pointer AT, but they aren't cheap unfortunately.
@@FuturesPast1 I have only about 2 dollars now, i cannot afford a garret, if it isnt waterproof shouldn't i legally get a new one for false advertising
@@caiden-_- If you bought it on Amazon, you are covered up to 30 days. After 30 days, sadly you are on your own.
If you use it under water and the water ends up breaching the battery compartment and it malfunctions, as long as it happens before 30 days is up, just file a return with Amazon and choose the reason for return as the item does not work and you can return it and get your money back. You can choose to get your money back or a replacement sent. After 30 days though, you cannot return it any more.
I can't afford a Garrett either. I just don't fully trust Chinese products to be honest and most don't live up to their descriptions or claims of being waterproof. They make lot of products, but most products don't deliver what they promise.

@@caiden-_- If worse comes to worse you can get a thick, clear waterproof baggie with a zipper (more heavy duty than a ziploc) and put the pointer in it. They sell them for cameras and cellphones and may make them big enough to fit your pointer in it. You will still be able to hear the beeps in it when it detects something.

No. I am a burn survivor who nearly died from my injuries. I have embarrassing scars I try to cover. It's not something to make fun of.
What good does it do to measure the height of the bowls if you're not going to fill them up to the top, pack the dirt, and then refill the top part with dirt after you pack it? I appreciate the video, but this is not very scientific. Once you stated your personal opinion that the Dr Otek pinpointer was your favorite, there's really no point watching any further
My video is free content. If I was being paid you would have seen me put more effort into it. I am not a metal detecting expert nor am a scientific genius. I make no money making these videos so it is me just having fun, screwing around and trying things out. If you want, you can make your own video or videos showing everyone it done better and more scientifically. I'd like to see a video you make. Please make one showing us your expertise. Thanks.

The best pinpointer isn't made anymore the whites trx is the best I ever used. To bad they don't make it anymore
Don’t know if you’ve heard the news but Garrett bought White and has introduced the Garrett/White gold detector. Perhaps they will continue the trait with a Pinpointer line.
