mbt reminding cimo he can't set under cold wave and then literally 4 seconds later setting a card under cold wave is the funniest illegal action in any of these serieses by a mile lmao
I mean i wouldn't hold it against him that much, even if Cydra is a super common card Rai-oh is a little finicky, and oftentimes similar kinds of SS can't be blocked by Raioh. what makes this kinda silly is that MBT goes out of his way to point out that Cimo can interrupt this and it just doesn't seem to register lol
The thing about Snowman Eater is that it was a HUGE out to Thunder King. Thunder King becomes one of the best cards going into 2011 and Snowman Eater not only outs it easily but, unlike Ryko, survives the attack and can be sacked for Caius, another powerhouse card of that time. Also, it was a Debris target and could let you go into Gungnir.
Here are today’s illegal actions: 29:05 MBT sets under Cold Wave. This was extra hilarious because of the sequence in which it happened: 1. Cimo attempts to set. 2. MBT tells him “not under Cold Wave you won’t” 3. One second later, he sets a card himself 😂 Conclusion: This didn’t matter because he lost the duel shortly after that anyway
Wow that was uhhhhh pretty unlucky for Cimo. Regarding the duality price discussion at the end, that would have gone a complete different way with Gage 😂
@@EdenElectorate was painful to watch live, Gage doesn’t have any legitimate arguments about why having these cards more accessible would be a negative for the game, it only has negatives in the card market which is where he puts all his emphasis in I guess.

Speaking to the budget aspect. This was around when I started to play a lot at my college and locals and because Duality was so expensive, I couldn't play it in my X-Saber deck, which I thought was weird anyways because that deck likes to special summon a ton. Until I dug through a bunch of potential replacements for that draw power. I found At One With The Sword. It seems like it would be terrible in standard X-Sabers but that is why you had to play it differently, I almost turned the deck into Fulhelmknight control. Since Cat got banned, there was no need to play 3 Air Bellum and 1 Fulhelmknight, so I swapped those ratios because of how Fulhelm could negate an attack and if it beat over something in def you get to revive something. So putting At One With the Sword on it not only made the deck have a solid beater at 2100 that draws me cards, but paired with E-Cons, I could also get some more plays in and with that at one locals, I was able to beat Gladiator Beasts handedly when my opponent didn't know about the attack negation, then the very next turn, attacked right into At One With the Sword in Damage Step, something no one could have seen coming. I ended up beating Plant Synchro in the semi-finals just to lose to the tricked out super expensive plant synchro build in the finals even though I won game 1 and I had a bare bones budget X-Saber Deck. No Duality, no Brionac, no Trishula. At the time it wasn't huge deal but looking back now I realize this was a pretty sweet feat.
This was my first set coming back to yugioh from the DM era! Crazy how i barely missed cards like substitoad, rescue cat and the like, but I have so many fond memories playing plant synchro, gemini, and anti meta against blackwings, xsaber, infernity, and the six sam stans. Great vid as always! What MBT talked about with the polarization over Pot of Duality, and its subsequent megatin reprint, happened again almost verbatim with Pot of Desires. It was a card that was clearly good, and in most decks a reasonable 3-of. Its price, while not *as* high, was still a barrier for many players, and the polarization stopped as soon as it saw a reprint in the 2017 megatins because it was accessible en-masse.
So many memories with DREV. Back in high school me and a friend went into the city for the sneak peek (he pulled an ulti Warning, still has it I believe) and on the way back we got off the train a stop early and had to public transit our way home w/o cellphones. I ended up staying the night at his place and we made Lightsworn Skull Servant on whatever the Byond ygo simulator was at the time. Good times. This was the first format I competed and got my invite. All thanks to a pot of duality out of a pity pack that got traded for a complete deck with every staple and extra deck monster I was missing. Except the pots themselves ofc.
Loved playing HERO Beat back in the day. Was such a fun little anti-meta deck that was pretty affordable outside of the Duality's and Warning's. Which those 6 cards pretty much made up for 90% of the decks cost.
I can see Miracle Gemini as the name. It ran 6 Gamini monsters (3 Alius, 3 Crusader of Endymion). While it didn't ever double summon them, it still ran inarguably more Gemini monsters than any deck had before.
This set was CRAZY when it dropped. Pot immediately shot up to like $120+ and everyone wanted them. There hadn't been such a universally desired card in Yugioh like that in a long time. Solemn warnings quickly shot to like $50 I believe immediately cementing its meta spot. Ppl (mostly hero players) experimented w/ Dragon Knight in extra but he didn't last long. Ppl overhyped Chivalry like crazy at 1st, was like $25 for a week, one of the fastest dropping prices I'd seen lmao.
The duality tins were also pretty crazy. I remember them being impossible to find cuz everyone was buying them. And I live in a major city with at least 10 card shops plus corporate stores, used to drive all around lookin for em lol. I think the super duality was like 20-30 bucks at the time due to this
DREV was the one of the first boxes I ever bought back in the day. The Duality/Warning/Veiler chase was real Also I vividly remember seeing a deck post for Angel Flores’s beck back then and being excited to seeing a Neos card actually being good 👀
Reason POD was played in every deck was because it boosted consistency. With the recent banlist few decks if any could consistently OTK (much less FTK) prompting many players to forgo 1 turn of special summoning for the consistency boost it provided.
At first look, I wasn’t convinced of the “Gemini” deck because it’s a list I’ve never seen before. Holy hell was I wrong 😳 the utility of Gemini spark was unmatched this set… and a little bit of bricking game 2 lol

This time was crazy and mindblowing for me. Came back to Yugi after the very beginning era. Saw also the first time, that money was indeed a huge gap between competetive and casual gaming. After I got a Duality and sold it on ebay, I felt like I wasn't playing yugi anymore. Instead, it was like a secondary business, where you don't want to loose money by trades.. at this point, I wasn't very long into it and began playing only online via YGO Pro (2 I guess). And after that was closed, I quit yugi again for several years until end of 2017.. only to bought Zoo Core, that got unplayable 4 weeks later. I quit again as Corona began. Now I came back again after 2 years now and really hope the best for the game..
Reminds me of a eye opening eyperience during playground times: A friend pulled a duality and another pro player arrived and wanted to buy it. My friend liked the card sooo much (not knowing his worth) that the pro has to reach deep in his pocket. he payed 90$ for the duality in the end and we thought "what an idiot, but hey our friend ist rich know" We met him a week later and he told us he sold it for 130$ at a cardstore. We were shocked.
This was the banlist used by Yugioh 5D's world championship 2011 over the nexus, one of the last traditional yugioh video games here in the US. I played that game a lot, and just overall had a lot of fun in this format. It's slower than the previous formats and there's a lot of stuff that's very playable for someone like me that's not a competitive player.
I haven't played that one, 2010 was the last one I went through, Over the Nexus also sounds like it has spoilers for 5D's, which I'm going through now, have just a few more episodes, where they are about to battle the robot people of Iliaster, they just beat the three dudes with the rune eyes. I only watch one episode a week now, did three at one point.
Good games. Pot of Duality and Effect Veiler are already putting in work, although mostly just for MBT xD. It still baffles me how much syngergy a random good stuff deck like Plant Synchro can have. Off to the next milestone in yu-gi-oh, Storm of Ragnarok. And then we will finally be in the last snychro format with all the cool good stuff decks
I still find it funny that the best card from the entire gemini mechanic is a 1900 vanilla who happens to be a target for Stratos Ecall rota honest and hero blast Meanwhile the 2nd best Gemini monster is gigaplant who I can't wait to see in history of jank

MBT: "Sir you can't set that under cold wave."
Also MBT: *Sets spell/trap*
Great games guys, even if it was a blow out haha
IIRC this is one of my first formats on dueling network, when I actually played yugioh in a valid way, oh the good old times
Ooh we're getting to the era where I starting going to locals
Loved playing HERO Beat back in the day. Was such a fun little anti-meta deck that was pretty affordable outside of the Duality's and Warning's. Which those 6 cards pretty much made up for 90% of the decks cost.
RIP the first modern combo deck, Infernity. That deck took me to Euros and is one I will never forget 💔😩
I choose to look at Alex paying half for a Sangan as a funny little MCU-esque reference to Gage losing twice by paying half for Destrudo :)
I think the super duality was like 20-30 bucks at the time due to this
This is the third time you guys pretended bottomless trap hole is not bottomless.
DREV was the one of the first boxes I ever bought back in the day. The Duality/Warning/Veiler chase was real
Also I vividly remember seeing a deck post for Angel Flores’s beck back then and being excited to seeing a Neos card actually being good 👀
Reason POD was played in every deck was because it boosted consistency.
Just wait for the miracle fusion version that runs the Shining and Absolute Zero. So freaking good.
@@IrrelevantOaf 2 of my favorite fusions still to this day 🤩 can’t wait! I’ve been testing some of these decks getting back into playing 5D’s World Championship 2011 because this format is basically where the game is in time. So I might be copying some lists over the next few episodes
@@IrrelevantOaf that's basically hero beat, which to me is at it's most hilarious in early XYZ, when you can one card remove laggias and dolkka with super poly
Oh hey, this is when I started playing again! Should be able to follow everything from here until Dragon Ruler format, lol
The total whoop ass Cimo received during this episode was to avenge Gage from losing a ton to Kalut shenanigans.
Mbts yugioh insight is my absolute favorite part of every episode
I really hope that once progression and history and the other series catch up to the current sets that y’all just…do it again. There are so many cards banned on this list that were never really shown off and it would be cool to do another season of history to see those cards in play.
I liked the moment when cimooooo synchroed a monster in his synchro spam deck
Kappa
“Any beater will finish me off there.”
Cimo just got curb stomped in this episode
I feel like the post-game commentary just got a lot better.
Game 2, why didn’t Cimo just sac Rai-Oh to the CyDra? He’d then be able to beat over the Banisher and eventually Fossil Dyna with what he had in hand.
Reminds me of a eye opening eyperience during playground times:
A friend pulled a duality and another pro player arrived and wanted to buy it.
Love all these Binding of Isaac references on MBT’s sleeves. Hope he’s liking repentance
Can’t wait for tengu plants/ plant synchro. Fun format
Synergy*
I can't wait to see Gravekeeper with Duality Vs Storm of Ragnorak Six Samurai.
Oh my god. This is the format I began playing competitive yugioh.
20:45 Cimo could have used Thunder King Rai-Oh's effect to negate the Cyber Dragon's summoning and destroyed it.
I still find it funny that the best card from the entire gemini mechanic is a 1900 vanilla who happens to be a target for Stratos Ecall rota honest and hero blast
Meanwhile the 2nd best Gemini monster is gigaplant who I can't wait to see in history of jank
Wdym obviously the best Gemini is Alien Hypno.
Best gemini has to be Aquarian Alessa, right?
Light gemini stun was my favorite deck of all time glad to see it here it later becomes crazy as hero beat like mbt said with going turbo shockmaster
Love that there is like 3 different variants of that deck that are almost equally good for different reasons and I've personally never played anything that top decks quite as hard
That is the shortest game 2 I've seen in any of Cimooo's series.
I remembered running Pot of Duality shortly after it came out, and had a hard time deciding whether or not to summon or draw that turn.
Yoooooo Gemini spark hero’s was so dope
and this is the time in History where I put away the cards. Duelist revolution broke me when it came to breaking boxes XD
I'm so happy that Joseph played Hero Beat. I got out of Yugioh years ago, but I kept my Hero Beat stuff for sentimental value.
Hell yeah, duality and no heavy story were HUGE for Heroes at the time
This episode was a quick one.
I love how they always play three games in that uncompromised environment, just to talk about the history of the game and show the decks' capacities.
Gks being a good deck just makes me laugh, they were always a meme in duel links😂😂
