I’m looking at MBT’s deck and realizing Konami literally made a crappy version of Frog FTK for a Duel Links NPC and it’s still one of the most terrifying decks at the level it appears at
Why are these guys spending so much time talking about "Substitoad this" and "Mass Driver that", when it's clear that Des Frog is the most powerful card ever created?
I was there to witness this win Euros in Birmingham 2010. A rep from Konami Japan was there as they had heard about Frog FTK but they just wanted to see how far it would go and what was doing. When they won, the guy was just absolutely speechless. Amazing atmosphere, great event, was fun to see Frog FTK vs Infernity.

Fun fact: Toads are actually frogs, they're just a specialized form of frogs. If Konami was scientifically correct, the toads would be qualify for frog effects.
@@Xaiff If you mean mechanically: despite frog and toad being extremely similar words in japanese (gaeru and kaeru), they are sorted in the exact same way you see in the TCG since they are still different words. If you mean naming wise: all their names are japanese puns, since -gaeru and -kaeru are also suffixes that form verbs (pex, substitoad in japanese is irekaeru, which means both "substitute toad" and "to subsitute"). tl;dr: they work in the exact same way they do in english, but the names and pun are much more "concise"
Konami recognizes that toads are a special type of frog, and want to respect their uniqueness instead of lumping with every other type of frog. In this way they are remaining politically correct

Once killed a buddy's Frog FTK when I first turned summoned magical android. He realized that just from that single monster. My lifepoints was above the kill range.
He wasn’t a good frog player then. You can deal more than 8k if you know what you’re doing, plus if it doesn’t go his way you can control the field easily

indeed it does. Duel Links follows OCG rulings, and in the OCG Poison Draw Frog's text allows you to draw in that situation. TCG: "When this face-up card on the field is sent to the Graveyard (unless it was attacked while face-down and destroyed by battle), you can draw 1 card." OCG: "When this face-up card on the field is sent to the Graveyard, you can draw 1 card."

Can't wait to see every episode After this one. 2011 Tengu Plants/ Agents format is when I became competitive using the rogue strategies of Machina Gadget and X-Sabers, but even being weaker, I still was able to beat T.G. Stun with Gadgets and beat Tengu Plants with X-Sabers, unfortunately Dino Rabbit retired X-Sabers forever, but that is a bit further down the road, all very nostalgic for me!

G3, didn't know what MBT had. But, Cimo should've set all 3 backrow. If MBT had hand destruction it wouldn't be usable without both players having 2 in hand.
I am quite pleased that cimmo has very clearly showed how this frog deck worked, and why it was played. I did not start playing until syncros were a thing, so all this talk of "swap frog" until these multiple series came out confused me.

As someone with 30 years of card game experience in other games, just learning Yugioh now, there is nothing more frustrating to me in Yugioh than the ability to miss timings. It baffles me that it could even exist.
Why not Gottoms with the Arbellum that is leaving the field from Rescue Cat. You can put Joseph to 3 cards with the draw and you have his Ronintoadin, which he likely can't out or will have to use the bp to do so. Follow up next turn with something else
Im ngl I would love to see more frog support to modernize this style of gameplay and make it playable outside paleo variants (I dont mean the ftk I mean the control aspect)
They also did not explain the mass driver card, which appears to have an errata? I am guessing because it was not used the way it is written on the simulator.
@@danielknapp159 mass driver hasent gotten an errata. Frog FtK invovles getting all your frogs into the grave then summoning Ronin multiple times. They just shortcuted substitoad tributing everything one at a time and the ronin summons

It would be something like, activate Substitoad, tribute the on-field Frog, summon a Frog from the deck. Most of the Frogs' effects don't matter for the FTK, only that they have "Frog" in their name. Ronintoadin's effect is that you banish a "Frog" to summon it from the Graveyard. This is not once per turn. So you would summon Ronintoadin by banishing a Frog, activate Mass Driver which Tributes the Ronintoadin to deal 400 damage (this is not once per turn), then activate Ronintoadin, activate Mass Driver, and so on. Since at the end of one "activate Ronin, activate Mass Driver" combo, the only thing that changes about the board state is one banished Frog and -400 LP, you could just shorten it by banishing all the Frogs and taking 400 damage for each one.
If Magic the Gathering had a 0-mana frog that had the ability "Sacrifice a creature: Search your library for a Frog creature card and put that card onto the battlefield" that could be activated any number of times per turn without spending mana, it would be just as broken as in Yu-Gi-Oh. But them some long time player told me not to worry about it, the deck is meant to end the game quick and some one time players can even deal with these deck as well.

One dude walks in with a hand full of amphibians and a fucking cannon, blows away the competition with the easiest series of two-ohs ever witnessed, as casually as he did permanently, he altered the game’s state of play forever. The last tournament I played with this deck half the games I won were with Light and Darkness Dragon and controlling the games with frogs.
In Italy "rana" means frog and Substitoad is called "Scambiarana" which means "Exchangefrog" so technically it counts as a frog.

Bruh, I remember coming up against a dude with this deck in a tourney in a quater final. Me being a scrub, could not anticipate what was to come. I was just embarrassed really. But them some long time player told me not to worry about it, the deck is meant to end the game quick and some one time players can even deal with these deck as well.
