Well, Reynauld is a Kleptomaniac Crusader with PTSD that could not go back to his home because he didn't feel like he could leave his time in the Crusades behind and Dismas is a Highwayman that abandoned his life of crime after accidentaly shooting the wrong cart, killing a mother and her young son in the process

Btw they bear 0 significance to the game’s plot and their only distinguishing traits are the fact their names are not randomized, they are likely to die a few hours into the game and are easily replaceable, their sole purpose is to get an achievement for keeping them alive and bringing both into the fight with a final boss, and after it is done Reynauld is often better off being discarded in the next playthroughs because of his crippling kleptomania.

If they need time to cure diseases, or you need more gold; send a sacrifice party into the dungeons, *those ones are replaceable.* I am keeping so many people alive through suicide missions alone.
