@Barb, can you please share how much protein you ate on carnivore while losing that 50 lbs? I am also 73, have been ketovore for about 2 months, carnivore for about 3 wks, & not only haven't lost weight but have gained instead! I am 5'8.5," 244lbs & tend to eat between 90 & 120 gm of protein per day.

    • @cherylh4688

@@catmel That can't be right, Catherine. One OUNCE per pound would mean that even if you only weighed 100 lbs, you would need to eat 100 ounces, which is 6.25 lbs of meat! And if you weighed over 200 lbs.(as I still do), you would need a min of 12 lbs of meat per day! And just think what that comes to in calories alone!
The most common recommendation, however, is 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight. That is probably what you meant or were recommended...unless you are a competitive body builder, lol.
But Valter Longo, the longevity researcher from USC, actually recommends .33 to .36 grams of protein per pound of body weight (or a little more if over 65), based on his research into the "blue zones." Dr. Gundry, however, a noted heart surgeon, recommends the same but per kilogram of body weight, which is about half of Longo's recommendation.
So there is variation. And some who are recommending for body building suggest 2 gm protein per pound of body weight, while others more interested in weight loss suggest these numbers be per pound of IDEAL body weight! But I have never heard anyone suggest OUNCES per pound of body weight!
So it's hard to know what to follow, but ultimately, based on one's energy; condition of hair, nails and muscles; and other indicators, including hunger, it seems likely our bodies will let us know what is needed on a more individual basis. That's my hope, anyway, lol.

At 70 now I started the carnivore diet a month ago. I have lost 13 pounds. I have had Hashimoto's for years. I have stopped taking the thyroid meds. I feel great! I have more energy, sleeping through the night regularly again, new hair growing back in and am regaining my sexuality. I walk 3 miles a day, never take naps and am enjoying so much more of life than I was two months ago. I am committed to carnivore! Thank you for helping me find my way to health through a healthy human diet!

I regularly have conversations with my cousin who is a nurse practitioner. She is always telling me about gluconeogenesis and heart this and artery clogging that. I keep saying none of that is true. I keep directing her to Dr. Berry because I know he links the studies. Has she watched? No. But she still tells me what I know is not true because I'm living it. I've just gotten to where I just smile and nod then change the subject.

I've had Hashimotos for years and years, but wasn't diagnosed until 3 years ago. It took a naturopathic Dr to find it. I couldn't lose weight, I was tired, hair loss, headaches, brain fog, and more.
I've played with carnivore for years after being vegan. I have a food and carb addiction, so breaking that habit is the hardest for me.
I am doing meaty May, not even bringing anything junk into the house, and committing. I'm tired of being overweight and worn down.. I needed this video. I am angry at times with the doctors of my past. I'm 44 and wasn't able to have babies and I also feel like so much of my life has been wasted. I cannot let another year go by feeling defeated. I'm tired of being tired.

We are getting ready to do a frozen transfer next month and I am back on Kiltz keto/keto again (been 5 weeks) because I know it is successful and the reason we have our son. Hi Kelly I’m 70 and have had hashimoto’s since 1984. Pills over and under because I moved a lot and had different doctors. 8 days ago I felt so unwell. I had previously watched a video of you and Mikhaila Peterson and really thought everything over carefully. I went keto three years ago for about height months and lost loads of weight but fell off the wagon. Tried to get back on a few times but daily life got in the way. I’ve had lots of bad experiences with doctors and have done loads of research on diet. After watching you and Mikhaila I decided that’s it I’m done. Today is day 7 for me and my beginner journey feels a bit weird. Day 1 a large beef ribeye. No cravings no hunger. Day 2 steak 3 egg yolks. Day 3 not hungry water and salt. Day 4 not hungry water and salt. Day 5 not hungry water and salt then at 7pm had a cup of bone broth. Day 6 liver and a little goat meat. Day 7 not hungry 2pm cup of bone broth. Have pain in my legs but not sure if it’s because of my three hours walking around meat supermarkets. Could it be something else? Anyway, I have lots of energy, sleeping great and who knows if I will eat a steak tonight or not. The bone broth is yummy and just bought an air fryer. Woo hoo thank you. Oh and I was 90kg I’m now 86kg and inflated stomach is reduced by 4cm

I started keto a few months ago, but this past 3 - 4 weeks I have been doing ketovore! I say ketovore because I do munch on a pickle or a stalk of celery daily, to clean my palate. I absolutely love it, this morning I woke up and cleaned all my windows in my house, inside and out! And I still got my Saturday cleaning done! I am definitely much more alert, and I have soooo much energy. Neisha has made me feel better about eating this way. I was on keto but was eating keto snacks ect. but I saw a youtube video that Neisha made where she said she eats onion, or maybe a tomato with her meat sometimes. This made me say YES! I know I can do this if I can have a pickle. maybe some garlic and onion on my meat. Thank you both for showing me that eating this way is 100% okay! It is okay to do this! And I love it!

I just started carnivore and my Hubby started a week later. I am already feeling a difference.
I have Hashimoto's and I believe I struggled with it for years, but never thinking I had it because I have nine children. I struggled with severe tiredness, depression, anxiety, hairloss, and pains in my muscles. Then after I had baby number nine I started gaining weight, a lot of it. I went to my OB/GYN and he only did four of thyroid labs. He said lift heavier weights (which how can I do that when I have no energy and my muscles were sore) and eat less. He sent me on my way.
I wasn't eating bad food but "healthy carbs" were in my diet. I found a doctor that did all my thyroid labs and my thyroid was in the normal range, but on the low end, but my antibodies were through the roof!
Fast forward I lost the 38lbs I gained. I started keto in February after research after my Hubby breaking his leg and i lost 5lbs, but no more. Then I learned about carnivore. I have been on it for a week and a half, hubby for a week and I feel better, but I am gaining weight and my measurements are higher. Trying to figure it out.

@YeshuaKingMessiah I believe I have found the source of the weight gain. I have been up and down, mainly up, since starting carnivore, I am still carnivore. I have gained weight because mold in my house, so much to Judy Cho and all her work on mold and CIRS.
We are getting to move into a friend's camper (all 11 of us, nine kiddos, two adults) to fix our house. Praying God's strength and financial help through it all.
Praise only to Him for helping me find out everything I have. In the meantime I have put up my measuring tape, and I am going to be satisfied where God has me right now. Continuing to use carnivore to heal, but not allowing my weight to stress and be my focus.

I'm 39, carnivore four months, almost five. I've lost 37 pounds, lol almost my age, and a lot of that was in the first two months. During month three to four I gained four pounds, but I felt so amazing that I didn't really care. So I did my measurements when I got home and found I had lost four inches! I weighed myself again today, after a month, and I'm down 7lbs! My mom looked at me and said, "that's it? You've lost way more than that." And I said, "nope. But I'm building and repairing, and that feels so much better." The scale is just a number, thrown it out and do your measurements. I do breast, under breast, waste, belly button, hips, thighs, calves, and biceps. So far my boobs are the same😉

Not sure if you read these, especially after 3 months, but I really wanted to thank you and Neisha. I've followed you for awhile (and now follow Neisha) but this video really clicked for me. I've been trying and failing for a couple months to get back on carnivore. I kept getting outrageous headaches and searching Reddit only told me to focus on electrolytes which wasn't helping.
But you guys talked about carb/sugar addiction and it just clicked! Especially when I considered that I kept "curing" those headaches immediately with a sweet soda and pizza. Doing that wasn't fixing electrolytes - it was giving me a carb fix!
I've finally passed 2 weeks after a few months of trying and I think this video really helped my mindset so strongly. I haven't even been feeling temptations because awareness has really made the difference for me. Thank you!

I was listening to Dr. Robert. Cywes’s new UA-cam video concerning the thyroid. He made a few major points that I was not aware of. As I have Hashimoto’s these were very interesting to me...
1 ) Hi insulin is behind lowered thyroid numbers ( I was morbidly obese for years )
2 ) When I reduce insulin, my Hashimoto’s antibodies will reduce as well. ( sure enough, when I adopted a ketogenic lifestyle for over a year, my antibodies dropped.)
3 ) Thyroid medication suppresses the production of TSH. ( this is something I did not realize. ).
The way I understood it was that if you have medication for your thyroid and your antibodies improve, you will still need the same amount of thyroid medication because your body doesn’t realize you don’t need the extra medication. It has to be stimulated by your body to produce TSH. In other words, why would your body signal to make more TSH if it already has enough. This is probably a simplistic way of explaining it. In any case, I am not sure how one gets off of thyroid medication in this scenario!

    • @jenrich111
      @jenrich111 3 роки тому

TSH is a reverse feedback loop connected with T4. If TSH is too high it means the thyroid gland is struggling to make T4. When we supplement with T4 - like Levothyroxine - that effects the TSH by lowering it.

Also more about insulin resistance and when your A1c elevates to pre diabetic while on ZC Carnivore....Lastly, What about exercise and Carnivore? So many say they don't and look great. Others are intensive and look amazing. Is there a recommendation for Hashimoto's, Carnivoreand Exercise? Normally Hashimoto's and heavy exercise are not compatible and inflame symptoms.....for me that is true but I do try to exercise everyday in some way....THANK YOU FOR YOU AND Neisha too. Omg, I was so thrilled to see that Neisha was going to be on your channel! I loved this video with two of my favorites! I'd like to know if carnivore helps all female hormones - as in my hormones are all depleted due to post menopause. Im always wondering if carnivore women actually get hormone replacement or if being carnivore solves the symptoms & the disease prevention that hormone replacement supposedly helps. Im wondering if just going full carnivore solves the issues. I have the same symptoms that Neisha talked about with her hashimotos - but I'm 57 & I've been struggling with exhaustion, achiness, irritability & inflammation. If you could ever have some menopausal women on to talk about their experience - it would be greatly appreciated! Thank you Kelly for what you do!

I have been ZC Carnivore since I was 41, went through menopause when I was about 46, I'm now 53, several years post menopause. I had like 5 hot flashes in 18 months and was done. The whole process was really a non issue. I feel better now at 53 than I did at 33. No hormone replacement except a few months of progesterone cream a few years ago to deal with depression due to low progesterone.

@@PandaLAG It was just a cream I got off of Amazon. My health is perfect. Bone loss is more due to poor diet and insufficient animal protein than hormones. As we get older it is vital we eat more animal protein or we will lose lean mass. I’ve taken Armour Thyroid and Levoxyl with Cytomel. Many people struggle with just T4 preparations. People with Hashimotos often need T4 with T3, because they don’t convert T4 to T3 well. T3 is what the body uses. I prefer the Levoxyl/Cytomel combination, because the T3 can be adjusted better to suit my needs than with Armour Thyroid or Nature Throid where there is some variance in what you may be getting or the product is not regularly available. This is something that people with Hashimotos who are not getting results from their meds should research for themselves.

I was diagnosed w/ Hashimotos around 5 years ago. I started Carnivore almost 5 weeks ago with hopes of correcting brain fog, reducing inflammation, reducing or eliminate medications, eliminate pain and aches and headaches, restore energy and eliminate fatigue, and lastly to lose weight. I am noticing some early results, particularly headaches are going away and tummy bulge and bloating almost gone. Digestion improving. And I have had some weight-loss. My question is...why do people say carnivore is not a weight loss diet? Shouldn't weight loss be considered an addition to healthy changes and a positive result? I understand that the body composition changes and that the results on the scale are less important to track, but it sounds like people are saying weight loss goals are not acceptable?? Michelle Fielden - By FAR, most people lose weight when they start a carnivore diet. The reason people say that is this: we get a lot of people who want to do carnivore to quickly lose 10 pounds and then return to their regular diets. Bad plan. Even though you’ll likely lose weight, carnivore is really about long-term health improvements. The weight loss is just an awesome side effect. :)
