    I'm loving your videos. Seeing all your outdoor adventures from way over here in South Africa makes me really looking forward to my next 4X4 adventure in my V6! Would love to do a trip or 2 through Australia on day. I also like how you educate on the history of the places you visit. 👍

    Err, the Patrol has a transmission brake as the park brake. IF you are in 4WD, then applying the park brake, which is a drum and shoe system on the rear of the transfer case, and so clamps the tailshaft from turning. Because of 4WD the rear and front shafts are connected or locked. Therefore both front and rear wheels are clamped. Assuming, you ARE in 4WD AND front hubs are LOCKED!

    Love the video.. but I thought that the Amarok doesn't have low-range. I believe that is one of the things that separates it from the other Utes.

    Hi Pat great videos
    Just a couple of questions
    I was on Hill bit wet and found the only I could stop going backwards was put against the bank
    And also can you pull backwards on wiinch rope without spoiling in like a drag chain
    What would you recommend

    • @trickster8635
      @trickster8635 Рік тому

      You should never tow with the winch rope. You are only relying on the working condition of the brake mechanism in the winch, which do not like to be shock loaded or jerked. Even positive stop worm and wheel style winches can suffer mechanical failure from shock/jerk loads. Similarly, when winching OUT under load, ie lowering back down a hill, it is only the brake mechanism that is stopping you from run away free spool.

    Hey Pat, will you be going back to Amarok with the new one coming out at end 2022?

    I wonder if that wreck of a recovery would have been covered for your average Joe by Club 4X4?

    I thought the v6 Amarok doesn't have a low range

      I don't think it does. It seemed to do admirably on those tracks without it though.

      It has a very low geared first gear.

      The one i the video doesn't - but it does have an eight speed box and Hill Descent Control. But VW has just released a V6 with low range in the past few months, which has lower gearing than any other dual cab on the market. BTW the manual 4-cylinder has always had low range

    Nice video series. You do know that placing a bag on the winch cable has no effect at all. If that cable lets go it’s very very scary and that little bag will make absolutely no difference.

    Fix ya fog lights haha

  • @billroach2393
    @billroach2393 4 роки тому

    What's the story with those wanker (ahhh, sorry, I mean "fog") lights? They seem to have a mind of their own!!! Sometimes the left one comes on at a random time...other times it's the right hand one.
    Also, at around the 33 minute mark......why are those Patrol jockeys not bothering with seatbelts???

    • @PatCallinans4X4Adventures
      @PatCallinans4X4Adventures 4 роки тому

      They're directional lights Bill, so they follow where you point the steering wheel. Would I like them to be on permanently? Ahh, yes. You're only person number 400000044 who has commented on them. ;)
