Is that with Baffle in or out? Just got MT 09 with Akropovic and as removed the baffle out straight away but sound was much more louder than i expected. I love lound bikes and the sounds of it but baffle out gave me a little bit of headache after a ride Might try experimenting trying modifiting the baffle
Good sound, but I miss the whistling sound the st3/daytona 675 makes. But a lot better then the MVf3 because it sounds like it is about to blow up, like if the crankshaft is going bad or something like that. :P
I'm getting my akrapovic full system for mt09 tomorrow. I cant seem to find any shop to get it tuned in Ankara, is it too bad if i use it with factory ecu baffle out ? I heard there is a 'co setting' in some diag menu do you know what it does ? Nice vid btw
Yes I've heard of that setting you mentioned, personally have not tried it, can't comment on what it does. It should be alright to ride it as-is without the tune, but a tune will be better to improve the performance.
I have a problem and i need help. I recently bought a 2018 MT09 with a full carbon akrapovic exhaust system on the bike. There are two previous owner before me. The second owner which is the previous owner i bought the bike from said that the bike was installed and tuned by the dealership that the original first owner bought it from. I don’t trust the knowledge of the second owner about the history of the bike. But the bike look brand new around 2000 miles on the odometer when i bought it. My problem is when i was riding the bike and sitting in a stop light and the bike is idling when i give it a little rev from stand still on neutral. The bike would stall from a stand still neutral geared position. The engine would just shut off, it idles just fine it is just when you add a little rev about 2500rpm. It would stall from neutral gear and idle about 2 times out of 10 tries (it dose not stall everytime in that situation but only 2/10). I do not know if the dealer even installed the full exhaust and tuned it. I think someone is lying. i think the original owner which is the first owner bought and installed the full akrapovic exhaust without having it tuned but i am just speculating. What should i do? Is it just a tuning problem or could it be something else or much more worse? And the bike already has 2000 miles when i bought it and i guess it was running in that state. Your help would be appreciated. Thanks
What is the RPM idling at (engine fully warmed up), is it idling at the correct RPM per manual? If you tried to increase the idling RPM slightly, does the problem still occur? If you are unsure, the best is to bring it for a dyno run, the result of the run will show the current status of the engine, from there the tuner can advise if you need a re-tune or if your engine is already set up fine.
TheSighBored i just checked it right now, and my 2018 mt09 idle position in neutral gear is about the same as your fz09, hovering between 1200 to 1400 rpm. So i would guess both of hour engine are normal. I think and I believe my rpm idle is normal from what i know but then again I’m not a mechanic or an expert by any means. I’m new to the mt09 CP3 engine. And to add further, what is really weird is that when you rev the engine quick and hard 3500+ rpm, it would rev just fine all the time from idle neutral gear. It is when you slightly rev it to 3000 or less from idle that sometimes the engine would die. I am already thinking about several solution on how to fix the stalling problem. I just want to have a general insight about the problem could be if it is particular to the engine or what not. I am afraid that i would just throw money for a simple common and straight forward fix. I’m thinking it could be a throttle body alignment, spark plug issue, air filter issue, re-tuning, or i have also read that this is a common problem with the cp3 engine. I have read about one guy having the same problem and he contacted the Yamaha dealer and the dealer said that the problem would lessen and go away over time. But that sounds like a shit solution coming from a Yamaha dealer. Thanks for the advice, hopefully this would help other cp3 engine owners.

Yes, there will be some effects, mainly your fueling, but to know more, get a dyno run performed on the bike to see the engine health and decide if you need to get a tuner kit to tune it.
Is this specific titanium model is also applicable to Year model 2017 and up? I like this compared to the akrapovic titanium that has a carbon fiber on the tip.

This is not to criticise him but he really needs to work on his cornering skills, I once almost got killed because I misread the corner and slammed the brake mid corner. Please advise him on how to corner, better off take him to a track clinic or something around those lines. Just a suggestion.
The MT-09 throttling is a bit abrupt & soft front suspension, I believe he wasn't quite used to those characteristics yet. Not making excuses for him but yes, we do advice and in time I believe he will improve. Plus I was the one asking him to push the bike a bit harder than what he is comfortable with, for the sound recording purpose. So maybe it's my bad too.

Any bike can wheelie, it's the rider skill that makes it happen (or not), but if you want to learn, having a bike with a good low-mid range torque, plus not too heavy, is a good point to start on. I'm not a wheelie pro so I cannot comment more. Yup, same guy, different time.
If you are talking about the flame, it's because the engine is running rich and the flames are the excess fuel coming out of the exhaust pipe catching fire and have the flame.
No, it will eventually burn a hole in your exhaust, like other fz owners have experienced.. a tune has nothing to do with it. It needs block off plates for the air injection system.
It depends.. There still may be some flames but not as much since the purpose of the tune is to make the air-fuel mix ideal so there shouldn't be too much excess un-burnt fuel to flame, pops might still be there.
If you want to know the noise levels I think you'll need to check on the Akrapovic website, I don't have a noise meter to measure so I cannot say what's the reading.

The effects will be that its slower than it originally was. It needs to be tuned.

The popping/fire is usually if you have a full system (unrestricted or no catalytic converter) exhaust pipes and the bike is not fully tuned yet.
