    I like the direct drive but I like the build of the G-class version.
    Please Gibraltar look into making the direct drive with the sculpted pillar frames and enclosed spring tension system with the dial and all that jazz that the G-class version has!!!!

    253usd on musiciansfriend right now. Just reserved one (shipping mid June) with the Simmons sd1200. I figure speed and lack of heavy force with something like this was a good set up for an electronic kit (since i'm a studio musician). Looking forward to accuracy of it. It should make poly-rhythms a breeze (tool fan :D )

    gibraltar engineers must get paid more than at other drum companies! I agree with BIG D; lets have direct drive in g-class...I like magnets too...

    Why is the spring tension unit different on the direct drive pedal now? It's shown as having the dual cam system in this video but on every site, like musicians friend or guitar center, it's shown as having a basic spring tension unit? It seems the only way to have a direct drive single pedal, in the Avenger series, with the dual cam system is to either buy a double pedal and not use half of it or to buy the pedal and try and find the spring tension unit with the cam drive from the dual chain version.

    the beaters are good for stuff like slide technique which gives a good punch under the feet, but when it comes to ankle motion and over 200 bpm single strokes, they become a bit too heavy, i bought the wooden beaters by danmar (used by many drummers like Gene Hoglan or Aquiles Priester etc...) and i gotta say it's night and day!

    Has anyone with the direct drive intruder had issues with the foot board height adjuster on the cam loosening to the point where the foot board is bottoming out on the base plate? I love my intruder but I can't seem to remedy this. I'm debating on just having it tac welded into place if possible or drilling and pinning it in place somehow. I don't want to have to buy another pedal. Can anyone help?

    Hey guys a quick question. Can the beater weight be adjusted or do you have to just get a different beater?

    • @GibraltarHardware
      @GibraltarHardware  7 років тому +1

      No. you would need a different beater.

      Stephen Fink no the new direct drive pedal can actually defy the law of conservation of mass and get rid of or create mass at any time

    I'm getting an education on this. Today 11-17-17, I view the video and see what seems to be a solid piece connecting the pedal to the piece on the action bar (sorry, don't know precise terms). Anyway, the vid shows solid pieces. A look on Amazon shows what looks like chain connector? Well, which is it - solid or chain?

    • @GibraltarHardware
      @GibraltarHardware  6 років тому +1

      Steve Freeman the metal linkage and chain are called drive mechanisms. Different pedals have different drive mechanisms to alter the feel of a pedal. The drive mechanism with the metal linkage is called a Direct Drive, and the chain version is called Chain Drive. The Chain Drive can also be set bought in a double or single chain.......the version you get depends on the feel you are looking for. The chain drive version typically gives you a strong, powerful stroke, while the Direct Drive gives you more of a less resistant, fluid, smooth feel. Metal players really like this style pedal because of the very quick response it has. From my experience, chain drive pedals are the most common pedal used. It all depends on the type of feel you are looking for.

    'Seems like a nice imitation of DW'S machined direct drive though these are probably a lot cheaper?? Although can these be converted into two single pedals in your slave version.Since I can do both
    Pearls eliminator dominator (convert them I mean) A very nice looking pedal, but are these up to the speed task? I'm asking simply because I've never bought any pedal my feet hadn't tried, and I do like my pedals

  • @justinmason100

    Surely it would be too hard to convert a chain drive to a direct drive would it? Just need to replace the chain with a piece of metal?

    • @brdane
      @brdane 8 років тому +1

      +Kyle Heslin I wouldn't necessarily say that it is impossible, it is possible. There's just more than just the chain that you have to replace, you have to replace the mechanism that the chain goes around too.

    Bought this pedal and nothing but problems, the direct cam won't stay in place no matter how much I tighten it which makes the pedals stick, I tried the advice with tapping the sides of the ppedal and I'm still having those issues big disappointment unfortunately I still love Gibraltar.

      jeebsa4m3 The G class is a different style of pedal. Take a look here: www.gibraltarhardware.com/?fa=series&sid=689&cid=26

    • @jeebsa4m3
      @jeebsa4m3 9 років тому

      GibraltarDIY but is it as fast as this one. i recently tried out a strap pedal and i love how smooth and fast it feels. does the g-class feel the same? i really love that.

    • @CultureShockGaming
      @CultureShockGaming 8 років тому +2

      +jeebsa4m3 I have both strap and direct drive, i used the strap for around 6 years and it really has some kicking going on, it's very smooth, and it's easy to keep a nice fast beat on 1 foot (only) because it's pretty light and fluid, but it's hard to get to 200+bpm with both pedals because the double bass does'nt stay in place.. (when you start speeding up the hoop clamps just unscrew itself because of the vibrations, and it does'nt have enough kick back anyway).. then i bought the direct drive one, the pedals are longer, the whole thing is heavier, the hoop clamp is solid, everything seems well built, the fact that you can choose your beater/board angle separatly is just pure gold, it took me a few months to really find the perfect setting for my playing style and also to control it, and when you finally get it you ll make progress pretty fast, i can now play up to 220/230 if i am in good shape, i am a bit sloppy tho unfortunatly because of my left foot, (could'nt work with it because of my previous strap pedal) ! I would recommend it to anyone anyway ! it's affordable and as i tried many different pedals, it's a pretty nice one when you start with direct drive !

    Out of all the DD pedals around, this is only beaten by the Falcons.
    I'd much rather have these pedals than Demon Drives or Machine Drives though, they're so tacky for their overpricing.

      I don't use it myself but I've been doing research through UA-cam and other reviews for a few months on these pedals and a few others. I just needed up getting a DW 9000 single pedal for super super cheap but before that I was really interested in these pedals and I've heard some pretty good things about them. Seems like they're good direct drives for the price. I've seen some really good deals on reverb.com for these pedals and other pedals like the PDP Concept Direct Drives and Mapex Raptor Direct Drives as well.
