  • Bruce Lee was largely responsible for introducing Chinese Gung Fu to North America through his appearances on The Green Hornet television series in the mid 1960s. In this video (derived largely from a screen-test Bruce Lee gave in 1965, just prior to the production of the series and not long after publication of his book entitled "Chinese Gung Fu: The Philosophical Art of Self-Defence"), Lee provides an introduction to (and overview of) Chinese Gung Fu. It provides an interesting glimpse into Lee's mind, as well as the art, principles and techniques of Chinese Gung Fu.

If Bruce (circa 1969) and Mike (circa 1979) could have ever gotten together at the same time, the conversation would have been epic. I have seen the pictures of Bruce's library of books, I would have to think Mike had quite the collection himself. Mike doing Jeet Kune Do and Bruce doing Heavy Duty, and then going to the local coffee shop to talk philosophy. Somebody ought to make a short film about it...

Hi John. Your video is very impressive. Is it possible for you to share the instrumental music used on minute 0:32 to 1:04? It is a very nice instrumental music.

I bet if Bruce had lived longer he might have visited Lake Helen at some point and picked up a couple Nautilus machines. He did like that Marcy trainer though lol.

It's funny I came here to research gung fu after watching some random black dude on social media say that that's the style he was practicing and even though I'm pretty sure he's a a fake but I just watch in the demonstration with the great Bruce Lee and with this guy is doing or two completely different things.

People did not understand that Bruce was double end around reverse quagmired
on his birth place as well as English / Chinese language skills.
He was indeed born in SF , then taken to Hong Kong , then ended up back in San Fran then Westwood Ca (UCLA). What a conundrum
just on a cultural level at a young age .
Things would have been much easier had he not had to shake the Chinese accent for Hollywood sake .
And god damned he was one hell of a Ping Pong player .

Don't know how this Tom Bleeker started being a Lee Historian, because it seems like he's pulling stuff out of his ear to earn a buck
