Its interesting that despite being the darkest and most evil villain Disney has ever created, Tony Jay shows some sympathy for Frollo without justifying his crimes.
Frollo was delusional. He always believed he was doing the right thing in “protecting” Paris and proving his loyalty to God by ridding the world of the sinful/criminals-whoever he believed they were. The (major) problem was that he was a sadistic sociopath who thought HE could do no wrong and let temptations overtake him.

Unbelievable voice. Just majestic.
"Return the map. Return what you have stolen from me!"
Thanks for uploading this! I must ask, what is the source? I checked "Hunchback of Notre Dame - Select Soundbites", and while it has some with Tony Jay, it's just a minute and doesn't include this as part of it.
Thank you, David! I downloaded it from Facebook ages ago, so I don't know where the OP had it from. I'm not active on Facebook anymore, but I was in your group!
I really need those clips of him singing Hellfire. He's ridiculously good in this role. Surely we should have more???
His voice gives me goosebumps
Sounds like Alan Rickman
Rip Tony❤
Or it's Alan Rickman who sounds like Tony Jay. Tony was older.
Its interesting that despite being the darkest and most evil villain Disney has ever created, Tony Jay shows some sympathy for Frollo without justifying his crimes.
That’s surprising given that Jay was Jewish and Frollo was based on the Nazi Amon Goeth.
Though does understand the other direction of Disney wanted to make Frollo as dark and vile as possible and never object to it.
he was an amazing voice actor
RIP

Excellent, thank you for uploading this video.
Goddess bless eternally this wonderful, blissfully talented man.
He would have been a good Architect from the Matrix Reloaded.
He would have been perfect as the Narrator of the Darth Plagueis Audiobook.
+Redeye or just replace him as Vader, I'm not saying I don't love James Earl Jones as the character, but he would be a perfect alternative
I once read that Tony was originally going to play Ben Kenobi.
Is that true. That would be really cool
Yep.

However, I doubt this would really be his Character, as much as I love Tony Jay and Star Wars. He'd have been better as Darth Plagueis in my opinion.
I love his voice in Elder god
RIP Tony, you were the penultimate villain voice of my childhood.
Dude, I love this man's voice. I wish I could sound like that. 😎👍

I know a good number of moms who watched certain cartoons with their kids back in the day just so they can hear his voice, and some had to change their panties soon after.

I remember him most as the elder god from the Legacy of Kain series. I always thought he deepened his voice intentionally, so seeing this interview surprised me greatly, as I see now that it is all natural :D
