- On 14 November 1945, riding on the phenomenal success of his first few films, AVM established his new production company, AVM Productions at Santhome, Chennai.
AVM Productions began to produce films in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Bengali and even Sinhalese. Following India's independence, the power shortages had been met and AVM studios shifted to the sprawling location in Kodambakkam chosen by AVM, in the year 1948.
In 1952, AVM's Tamil film Parasakthi released in theatres all over Madras and was an instant success.With a powerful storyline and fiery dialogues by a future Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M. Karunanidhi, the film preached social revolution and questioned the authority of Hindu temple priests. Sivaji Ganesan, then a newcomer, was cast in the lead role. By the mid-1950s, he had emerged as one of the top-stars in Kollywood.
AVM died on 12 August 1979 at the age of 72. In 1980, as per AVM's last wishes, AVM Studios commenced film production under Meiyappan's sons A.V.M Kumaran and M. Saravanan, after a seven-year hiatus.

I am a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, into Service and Process Excellence. But I always admire and idolize the legends AVM and SP Muthuraman as the cost champions and the Master Black belts of the Film Industry. Cost optimization with doubled quality leading to consumer satisfaction was always their Mantra. Samsaram Adhu Minsaram was as good as a LSSBB project - Minimal budget with a maximized viewer satisfaction. Salute!
Brilliant analogy. Visu contributed a lot to the success regarding the tight budget. Sivaji Ganesan is an excellent example who reduced the takt time by sleeping in the studio and doing 3 shifts and facilitating 3 different shootings to take place on 3 different subjects, storyline and timeline considering historic or mythological theme or contemporary story etc., Balachandar was excellent by producing black and white movies as late as 1976 and keeping costs low. Many of them such as KS Gopalakrishnan, AP Nagarajan etc. has sound story, story discussion and proper script preparation and used studio without much outdoor shooting and eliminated the 7 wastes by cutting down on travel, distance, time, transportation of costume, food, art equipment, shooting equipment etc., KSG, KB and APN specialised in synchronised flow between successive scenes by humourous dialogue with multiple talented actors and reduced screen time of the hero and heroine which saved them many days because top actors call sheet is always a bottleneck and filling up reels with less demand and less salary actors helped offset the cost too. Right. AVM is an overrated production house that mostly produced trash movies. They just became hits because the fans then didn’t have any other entertainment and didn’t understand what was real cinema. Now generations have changed and AVM has become irrelevant and now they are blaming the entire world for their failures.

100 % agree with you. This NUT during early stage - his songs was good because he choose and pick good Playback singers like SPB , K J Jesudass & P Jayachandran. But later part when he enjoyed money and fame - completely his music were towards western flavour and ZERO indian taste. His playback singers esp the male - cant even pronounce proper tamil words. Plus his music are too loud. The worst matter - that NUT fellow thinks he has better voice then TMS or SPB or Srigali Or K J Jesudass. His voice ie really HORRIBLE and thats why all the songs failed in PONNIYIN SELVAN. This NUTS are more interested in making only MONEY. Another NUT is the great LEGEND - Aniruth. All follows Yuvan and G V Prakash.
We still has good singers alive - KJ Jesudass ,P Jayachandran , Madhu Gopalakrishnan & SPB Charan - Give this guy a chance who has 98% of his father's voice. And same goes to lyric writers like Vairamuthu , Mu Metha , Muthulingam , Palani Barathi & Arivumathi.
But we cant see all this people anymore - WHY ? WHY ?
Politics are in Tamil movie/ music industry.
