Another time (this is a few years ago), when my team's hockey team was called the "Battalion", this song was played as the intro at one of their games, and I swear my brother and I were the only kids there who knew what this song was from! Great job, keep it up! (I'ma have to learn this one now!)
Fun fact: the great escape theme was what inspired Oliver's season 3 to 5 theme in thomas and friends which does make sense since the episode "escape" is about Douglas the Scottish twin saving Oliver and Toad from being scrapped
I'm 18 today and I remember the game of 'The Great Escape' on my old PS2. Just played it again yesterday. Despite how poor the graphics were, it still makes me nervous to step out of my hut. They need to do a remastered of it. It was certainly a game with character and was essential if you saw the film.

I always loved classic war movie themes. Modern soundtracks are pretty awesome, but few get you exited to watch the movie on their own. It seems like the most of that energy has moved into the games industry.

I have used the sheet music on the link to recreate this first part on fruity loops and while the first part matches, about where 3 or 4 starts, this video cuts in before mine ever so slightly. I have checked the note values over and over again and it matches what is written. I feel there's a rest being left out or something.
