Single vs DOUBLE Stack CONTAINER Train : Indian Railways
Вставка
- Опубліковано 11 лис 2016
- Double Stack Container Train rail transport is a form of inter-modal freight transport where inter-modal containers are stacked one above the other. The coupling holes are all female on the upper portion of the Container and it takes a double male twist-lock beneath the container to securely mate container stacks together. With the container boxes stacked two-high, a double-stack train can potentially double the capacity in a Single train run. This effectively allows the company to move boxes out of the port area at a faster velocity in each train run, thereby easing congestion.
INDIA'S FIRST double-stack train was flagged off by former Minister of Railways Laloo Prasad Yadav on March 23 2006. Starting from the Kanakpura Inland Container Depot near Jaipur in Rajasthan, the train ran to the Arabian Sea port of Pipavav in Gujarat, a distance of 950 km. THE route was later extended up to Gurgaon in Haryana.
Route followed by trains from NCR (Gurgaon) is Rewari ,Ringus, Phulera, Ajmer, Palanpur, Samakhiali, Gandhidham, Mundra Port and Pipavav Port.
Train length is currently limited to 45 wagons by the length of passing loops, equivalent to 180TEUs. Maximum speed is 75 KPH. At present the service can only accepts 8ft 6in boxes.
CONCOR : Container Corporation of India ltd.
Location : Taj Nagar, Haryana State, Northern Railways.

Enjoyed this. At first wondered why the stack train wasn't going faster until i saw one of the stacks wobble. Then i noticed the trees and realized, "it's the wind", the greatest danger to a stack train. I know of at least one video from here in the US where down in New Orleans a stack train went onto a bridge as a tropical storm if not outright hurricane was rolling in. The train stopped but, it was to late, the high winds blew some of the well cars completely off the bridge. Just when you're out trying to film more stack trains, be aware of the winds. Make sure the wind is at your back just to be on the safe side.
For india I think it is the safest way to transport shipping containers by train because Indian trucks are pretty unsafe and due to horrible traffic it is way more unsafe
Double stack, quite impressive.

Amazing bro
Beautiful!
Super Duper!
Awesome train video my friend. I remember they started double stacks here in the US. They had to raise lots of road bridges and remove others. Some routes can only do single stacks due to low clearance in tunnels. I see double stack trains 12000 foot long and up to 240 cars here

Seems like u r in love with Tajnagar, btw Dancing containers at 2:30 looks dangerous! :o
Ya my second visit more over its a halt station with lot of trees , no poles yet and most importantly free from loops . The DS is permitted for 75 KPH but this was way too less and the shaking is due to the small gradients.

Thanks for watching !
Perfect video.
that is looking like my father arriving home wih a huge bag full of food and clothes and other things. His bag is yellow and so high that it crop out over his head so high. when he is approaching home we see the top of this bag on the backdrop at first and later himselve. :-)
I like how they still use traditional guard vans on the end of the trains, instead of electronic devices (E.O.T'S) used in the USA, great video.

Not true. Electric locomotives are more powerful than diesels. No diesel train goes faster than 200 km/h in normal operation.
Thats lotta torque

Cool video!

Awsm capture bro both single n double stacks r so gud(WDG4 ROCKS)
Nice capture bro, sometime back when it used to be hauled by an ALCo it struggled to pull such load, glad to see EMD Doing such heavy duty.

Great video. I travelled extensively in India by rail late in 2019 but didn't see any double stacked freights. The ones you video are far shorter than in USA, Canada or Australia (latter Parkes, NSW or Adelaide, South Australia across the Nullabor Plain) to Perth. Great to see though.
They are shorter because of the short length of loop lines. Most loop lines in India are 700 to 800m , about 0.5 miles. So, if a passenger train has to overtake, these trains cannot be completely looped if they are longer than loop lines.
Also, now 1.5km long double stack trains are running now, on western dfc
and great finish when guys crossed with bikes without. helmet

NICE ONE BRO YOU COME TO SALEM junction
double rack is dangerous... with strong winds..
center of gravity can be lowered with different type of carriages.. .(hollow type carriages)...
Double stack, if the rails are good, is actually quite sAfe
Double stack trains can handle strong winds just fine, as they do in Australia across the Nullarbor and up through the Northern Territory
In america, there are double stack trains running through winds strong enough to power a city.
Well cars increase the gap between containers, creating more drag. These cars look to have a HEAVY, low hanging center sill.
Would the train able to negotiate Road over bridge? OR do they have to look for a route without Road over bridges?
Judging by U.S. double decker trains, they can go under bridges.
If it's anything like North American or Australian double stack trains, bridges are probably just that high above the tracks.
It looks like India and Australia have some routes with higher clearances than anywhere in the U.S., because they run double stack trains on regular height flat cars instead of well cars.
Only diesel can pull such long load....... Electric can't.........
this is amazing

How to carry double containers on electrified lines ?
Next, this isn't the correct way to carry double containers. The rakes have to be modified so that there is some reduction in height. The current setup of double containers shown in this video looks very dangerous, specially for Indian conditions where the track quality and track layout isn't that leveled ( clearly visible in video here itself ).
Double stacks can run on electrified lines. All you have to do is extend the pantograph a bit. 2.bp.blogspot.com/-1BbF3QiAd-0/Ui9YbpGk-8I/AAAAAAAACC4/Skzmp1iCK5Q/s1600/container+clear+elec+lines.jpg 3.bp.blogspot.com/-MlbLoVla2s8/Um1gBcrVl7I/AAAAAAAAt5w/Tdc0nu6eE4o/s1600/SEPTA_Norristown-TC-Rt100%252BNS-D-Stack-blizzard.jpg
Hi, I think Indian electrified lines dont have such clearance. All the existing electrific lines will have to be reworked, essentially to increase the height. Tedious task I guess, but worth it in a few areas like near ports, etc. where it can be hugely beneficial. Currently, a dedicated freight corridor is being worked onto wherein such height above dual stacking has been taken into account. Here is the website : dfccil.gov.in/dfccil_app/Photogallery.jsp
It does feel that way, but I think that is compensated by lower speeds; 45 kmph max. in straight sections and lower in curves.
what an engine
superb video
Awesome shot. I have a question, why before the brake van or Caboose, there are two chemical wagons, will there won't be any threat?
Its attached at the rear so that its easy to unload them first at the Terminal. They are pretty safe as the walls of these tankers are pretty thick . Also they have not put them near the locomotive as a precaution !

can double stack run on electrified sections?
No it cant run on electrified routes , but the existing Double stack routes will be electrified with raised catenary poles matching to its height.
TheRailzone
Those tracks need some work. The containers were bouncing a bit. Must be the extreme heat damage.
Probably need 2 locomotives for decent speed. 72 MPH is the typical Track speed for commercial freight trains.

wonderful
In the USA container trains are double and single on one train

Please guide me how increase SUSCRIBE and view
Can e loco do it
Why are there double stacks? Can't they have longer trains?
They cant have longer trains due to Loops and platform limited to the size of 24 coach trains or 45 Freight wagons. Some times these freight trains will have to loop to make way to a high priority train at some stations.
TheRailzone ok I'm just not used to the shorter trains here in the US we have double stack container trains that can get 1.5 miles long and have 130+ cars
+AngrySlime11 That is because these trains are plying on passenger train routes.Indian railways carries the largest amount of passengers in the world.Once the Dedicated freight corridor starts in 2019,we will also have long trains like in the US running here.So excited for 2019.
Ok

Hi. Can you tell me how many shipping containers were being hauled by both of the trains? (Single stack and double stack). Thanks.

bagaimana cara membedakan WDG4 dengan WDG4D?
i have seeen u most of videoes u r from?
You are from Bengaluru.
Just Like North American Intermodals
Almost. Our double stack trains use well cars that put the bottom container just above the rails. Consequently, they don’t stick up nearly so far as these trains.
