  • Using EPH20 noncorrosive priming recipe with hemp roll paper as foil paper, ping pong ball and titewad for nitrocellulose for a 100 live fire test. Next test of 10 is gun hemp NC. Without the 50% isopropyl drop this stuff is very stable. I set off one seating the anvil, have to be quick if you do 5 at a time. Soon designing a clamp that can flatten out the cup strike and pack 5 at a time. 3.3mm punch or wood stick would work better than this 1/8 in punch I know. Very cautious about using such a thin paper of hemp, very sensitive once dry concerning me about a possible mag fire. I tried regular roll paper with H48(PrimeAll) and got 80% vs 100% with hemp but this is a different animal.

Well done. Im still using the corrosive variety with success.
I have found that a ram prime is very handy in disassembly and loading them as well. Saves a lot of time.

96/100 fired today, the 4 duds were most likely due to the light strike of my XDM 9mm. All 50 spp in 45acp fired fine. Might need to add more glass for the 9mm

Hard to find nitrocellulose ping pong balls in this day and age.

I watched your video over a couple days and not all at once so I may have missed something - but I don't think ping pong balls are made of nitrocellulose any longer - so unless you happen to have some old ones I don't believe using ping pong balls will add any reliability to your primers, I would expect they would reduce reliability. I remember when all the ping pong balls were nitrocellulose - it was fun to burn them, they could be used to make smoke bombs. Maybe there is a brand or two that still could be found that is made the old way?

These were, I flame test a piece of each one to see the burn rate. Most I find are pvc, etc. Thanks for watching. Testing a homemade hemp resin ballistic plate today, will post later.

Ive melted titewad powder with acetone into a cube then file once dry and sift for an easier NC source

@@JaredHempfield That's a good idea - it could be more convenient than screening tightwad for fines.
Blue Dot has an extremely high NG content - I wonder if that would enhance primer reliability? NG has more energy than NC.
4227 has no NG if you want to try the other direction, because sometimes in reloading things are the opposite of what is expected.
      Have fun.

@@coyotexpl1507 Hmm, no idea but if you join the Reloading Primers group on MeWe and ask Im sure Marshall and many others could offer answers. I dont think Id want to make them more sensitive and prone to mag fires and chemical compatibility would be my biggest concern. Ive been out of this venture progress for a while now but running low on primers again so I might break out the stuff and keep improving on eph-20

@@coyotexpl1507 I don't know about ETN. I do know that the military uses some propellant basesdon RDX rather than NC with some success. If you are talking just about primers there are a number of HE's that have been used in primer mixes eg tetryl etc - there has even been some work using copper thermite (which reacts explosively and with extreme heat energy) with some success.

Sir may I have the components list for non corrosive primer ?

  • @scoleman825

Is that compound one you came up with yourself? I have tried the ramshot blanks. I open the blank and dump the gun powder then gently crush the bottom releasing the primer compound. I do this with about two to get enough to fill the primer cup. Then I use a cap gun paper to seal it. Only done about 10 with success

Ramshot isnt worth the cost and paper caps not worth the corrosion. I was using PrimeAll(H48) with great success but dont want to wash my tools with water after every shoot. Have you tested whether or not ramshot is corrosive? Im all for using anything that sends it, knowledge of this process is worth so much.
