I have no idea how we've managed without such device for so many hundreds of years.... I have a great idea too.... Let's call it a hand axe! Brilliant x
The hand axe was invented many years ago; about 2.6 mya. Early examples of hand axes date back to 1.6 mya in the later Oldowan (Mode I), called the "developed Oldowan" by Mary Leakey. My own re-invention of a beautiful sword, I made with one of the blade springs of a VW Beetle front suspension.
Disc brake pads are generally low cost containing Asbestos. Asbestos is an old brake pad technology that uses asbestos as the main component. The special features are Asbestos substances are cheap and provide good friction at low temperatures but it's harmful for the respiratory system
Newer brakes pads do not contain asbestos in the US. Wouldn't try grinding on old ones, because they may be made with asbestos. Some other countries still use asbestos.

I can just imagine Ugg the caveman going to all that trouble to invent such a tool making it from an old brake pad which he happened to have laying around in his well equipped machine shop.
Howdy, Paul. I see you enjoy turning simple things into unique ones. Awesome! Well, when it comes to working in the garden, vegetable or flower, I never minded getting my knees or hands dirty. However now I don't have the space I once did. I do however have some old power tools and pieces and parts laying around. Take an old skill saw for instance. Rather than using a spade to dig a flower sidewalk garden, I'd like to fashion a handheld tiller out of one of my skill saws. I'm sure the RPM's could handle the job and moving along on my knees would certainly be better on my old back than stomping on a spade for a couple hours. I know that I'd have to fashion a single blade and cover shield, both for safety and to direct the dirt to the back (somehow). Any thoughts or ideas? I like your creative ideas. 👍👍
I guess no concern for the asbestos nice job just be careful when you grind the rest of f u can't see all those very small shards of metallic dust nasty not good for you . I have been a auto mechanic 4 37 years and some of my buddies have bad health from it please wear a mask
Brake lining friction material more than likely still contains asbestos or at the very least something that is very bad for you. And you're grinding it off inside your shop?
Havin fun w/ scraps & building things along w/ tryin for a different custom, 1 if a kind look's fine. Sometimes the projects we do, wheather liked by us or others, can teach & improve skills. But I think the ax was a bit light for chopping firewood. It seemed ok for kindling unless you only found hard &/or dry wood. Weight's a consideration on a hike. For a 1 day hike the ax'll probably be an ok kindling ax. A wk.'s camping, I'd go for a heaver ax w/ the same dimensions, especially if space's a problem. I'd go for a solid bar handle (or filled w/ concrete) & thicker head. More weight = more splitting power. The 2 head pieces should have been ground down to eliminate a lg. gap. Quality welders try to fit parts first eliminating excess gaps. Make a 2nd handy ax for the shop & the car. If u can find a mkt., sell what u design or take custom orders.
You know you can just go to the hardware store and get a hand axe 🪓 for under $20. Us, and save a day of work. Now how do I get back the 11 minutes of my life.
It never ceases to amaze me at how people can be so intelligent as to create such ideas but be lacking in common sense when it comes to shop and saw safety! Holding a piece of wood as you're drilling into it with a drill press is just stupid. And having your fingers so close to the blade while cutting without some form of securement is just begging for disaster.
You can buy a hatchet at Harbor freight for about 19 bucks. This guy must’ve had a fortune in machinery and nothing but time on his hands. Looks good but it wasn’t worth the time or effort my opinion

atomizer prodaja
buena idea me gusta
Nice idea, but a lot of work to produce a thing nobody needs
Hope you know most cheap brands of brake pads have asbestos still. Better to be wearing the appropriate respirator....
What was the invention? The axe?
Nice piece of art out of a brake pad

We all gonna die of something we didn’t know about so no worries 😉
@@wobblysausage8472 agreed. I just try not to do anything to rush the event
Looks to me like he grinded it outside. I don't know too many people that have snow on the ground in their shop

Brilliant love it well done you 😊
Beautiful video ◕‿↼ I love it!!! ❤️
some of the tools used here are interesting, I have also reviewed some similar ones on my channel

Q megainvento 😟🤭🤭😂😂😂
Are brake pads not made of asbestos? Hope he had a respirator on when grinding that stuff
I thought the axe was invented thousands of years ago. You need to get out more often and meet people or even go for a drink?

How many different clamps and grinders do you own... Lol
Would have been better to make a knuckle duster and easier
Be careful of asbestos dust my friend, there is some in the brake pads!!

Ok bravo

They have socialized medicine there.........
It's not that big of a deal.
Looks cool but why not just a piece of plate steel and a drill.
You are right NH, those brake pads are carcinogenic. You never do what he is doing. Throw them away responsibly.
Por lo pronto ya tengo la madera
Excellent handiwork and a fine end product, but why waste a perfectly new set of brake pads? Why not use an old set?
Buena✌️✌️
Wear respirator that's the next step down from asbestos brake pad linings chop wheel dust
