To anybody saying that these still sound loud. They're not! They sound way louder here, for whatever reason. But in real life they're almost silent. About as loud as a finger snap.

+TwhDrummer13 Considering to buy silent heads, how much of the 'drum feel' do you get when youre playing it. IS there any dynamic control over the kits when you play them?

I just got these heads (12”, 14”, 16” & 22”) as well as the Zildjian L80 cymbal pack (14” hats, 16” crash, & 18” crash/ride) and I can tell you I am in heaven now as far as practice goes. My practice space is a pole barn, with no sound proofing, and I no longer disturb my family in our house as well as the neighbors. If you can’t practice as much as you want because it disturbs those around you, get these heads (and the Zildjian L80s)!!
NOTE: I still put the Remo falam-slam patch on the kick head for durability purposes.
    Peace!

YES! These are exactly what I've been needing! I've tried everything, from the pads you put on your drum heads, to the Hot Rod sticks and so many different things. But my parents still complain about how loud it is. The fact that you showed that you're still able to talk in your normal voice and play your drums and yet I could still hear you perfectly made my jaw drop 10 floors. I would LOOOOOVVEE TO WIN THESE. Huge fan and inspiration to my drumming, keep making great covers!

These are very nice heads. Kudos to Remo for making them and being able to have them be so quiet. I as a drummer love to play, I'm on my set almost 3 hours a day. And sometimes it is later when I play and almost all if my neighbors are older (80's) so having these quiet heads would be perfect! I would love to have a set! Great review Casey, and awesome heads Remo!!!

Hey Casey, nice video. I stumbled upon this account a few weeks ago and I was so inspired that I picked up a kit for my very first time. I have learned so much in 2 weeks and I'm having so much fun. It's a place where I can unwind and put my emotions into music. I am going back to college soon and these heads would be perfect for me as I will be living in a apartment. Thanks for the inspiration coop.

    Hey Cooper.
Been a fan a long time. I was looking tonight for a review and honest review of these heads because as a drummer who is living in an apartment complex, I have to find a new solution to sound. I purchased a DW go anywhere practice kit, but the hardware is surprisingly shoddy, and I have to retighten almost every mounting piece after 5 minutes play. I was remembering my trip to NAMM myself and remembered these. Thank you for taking the time to review one of your endorsed companies products honestly, as I respect you a lot more for that. Carry on good sir.

Great review. I got these for my son as the cheapest way of reducing his volume, compared to soundproofing or electronic kit. Combined with quiet cymbals, its heaven for all of us. We started out with the Zildjian L80 set but they fell apart after a few months, so we got the Sabian quiet tones which are nickel and way tougher. Already outlasted the Zildjians with no sign of cracks starting. Recommend!

Drumming is my passion. It's my favorite thing to do and my escape from things. I can hardly play now because my mom gets bad migraines and I can't play. Also school work takes a lot of my time so I could only play late. To keep my passion alive I need a quieter way to play drums and this is the best thing I've seen!

I'd love to receive that set of Remo heads! I live in an apartment complex and have a lot of difficulty finding a good time to practice, since the drums drive right through our paper-thin walls like looters through a shop window. One of my neighbors has a 10 month old kid whose bedroom shares a wall with mine. My friends come over to play with smaller amps and I always drown them out. Keeping the tone intact is great, because we'll still be able to jam And best of all, I play and trust the Remo brand. I'd be honored to play these heads. Thanks Cooper!

Hey Casey, the reason I would love to have those heads is because I'm getting ready to move into an apartment and I'm afraid that would have to by a electronic drum kit so me and my band mates can practice more, but i already have a kit and i don't want my kit to collect dust for who knows how long, plus i don't want to buy an electric drum kit just because it would make drum practice quieter. If these heads are that quiet than it would be AWESOME to have those heads, and also my band mates will thank me (and you) for those heads because there ears wont be hurting anymore because i hit just as hard as you do. Keep doing what your doing and enjoy life.

I love your videos I lover your skills and I live with my parents grandparents uncle sister and brother and rarely get to practice because from the Tim I get home from school I do my home work and usually my 76 year old grandmother is asleep. I really like these silent stroke heads because they would give me the oppritunity to practice as much as I could. It would be the greatest thing to happen to me if I got these!! I have been playing for almost 5 years and it feels like at my skill level I've been playing for 3. Thanks cooper! -Tyler Jones

I would love to have those drum heads! The amount of noise my kit makes is unbelievable. I'm always doing covers, originals and study two types of music at college, so i need to practice everyday, but due to noise, i have a lot of trouble doing that, and sometimes have to stop drumming for weeks. These heads would be my PERFECT practice solution and would allow me to practice as normal! Love the vids! keep it up!:)

Love the videos! This is very helpful. I am the drummer for the youth worship team band at my church, and for me practice is very crucial! I haven't really had much time to practice because my grandparents are always here at my house caring for my mom. My mom has been handicapped for a couple months now, her parents are very concerned about her as much as we are So they come to my house everyday. I really hope you see this! I would love, to have those heads to practice on, because it's truly different from practice on the floor or chair! Haha God bless you, keep up the great work the Lord has blessed you with a caring and humble heart!

Most definitely a solution. This will help a lot. I teach drums to kids and teens in my community. I don't make any money from it(free lessons) and all I have is an old real beefy 6pc acoustic drum set. It's in a small church building in a residential area. Some complaints here and there... Everyone starts off loud and it takes a lot of practice for muscle control. But these drumheads would keep these lessons going with no visits from the local police.

I really need those drumheads because my drumset is placed beside the dining room (without soundproofing of course) and the noise really gets into the nerves of my neighbors and housemates sometimes, and also I usually go home late because I have a lot of things going on in my school, and I barely have the time to practice. I believe that this is one tool that could make my practices more effective.

Wassup Cooper its Lucas Villeza and I live in Hawaii and ive been drumming for about one year and three months. My dad bought me an alright set last, last Christmas, and a better one this past Christmas and ive been seeing great improvements. I have an addictive personality so I get good at things fast for instance drumming. I think I should get this set because I cant always play, which I want to and if I could drum more often, I can be a professional like you in a really short period of time which will just make my life fulfilled almost. It will be a really great accomplishment man. Thanks Bro. Keep drummin hard dude!

I would love these because for Christmas I got a drum set and when I play it they are really loud, so I bought those rings you can get for them and they work, just not that well and these drum heads sound AWESOME! When I play my mom sometimes comes in my room and tells me to keep it down I'm playing to hard/loud. I don't notice it though because when I play I listen to songs and play along with them so I can't hear. So if I could have those heads I would be SOOO thankful you would have no idea. Anyways I would like those drum heads thanks and keep on drumming you rock!!

    Casey,
These drum heads would be perfect for me because I need heads that are quiet and still sound like a drum set and feel like one. Every time I play my drum set my parents yell at me. I just become so inspired by your videos that I go and play some of the same song that you jam out to. But... my problem is that during the summer of 2103 my neighbors called the cops and I almost received a ticket, my neighbors have small kid and my parents some times babysit for some friends of theirs so you have to be quiet because little kids will raise a racket if you are loud or if you disturb them while they sleep. I have tried the playing softer methods and the drumming pads and dampening tools, but I always end up having a neighbor come to the door and say, "I need you to stop please" or something like that.
These drum heads really spark my interest! I can start practicing again and continue to work at improving my playing, technique and skills. This video was very helpful. If i had these heads I could practice all the time, whenever I want, for however long I want. I just miss my drum set, it hasn't been touched since September, it just sits around collecting dust :/ I would just like to get back to what I like to do to have and start getting better at my passion.
    Thank you for your time.

The simplest way to test these heads would be to play them alongside normal heads. We need a comparison. Pretty simple.

    • @hhurtta
      @hhurtta 8 років тому +9

+Jamie Davis A comparison of a kind is actually on the video. Starting around 5 mins mark Caseys is talking casually while hitting the the snare and toms and hitting the head won't cover his voice at all. So you could expect noise levels of normal talking.

Ironically enough I had just touched base with Remo this afternoon to inquire about a few questions I had on the SilentStroke's.. I received your review from them as well, so THANK YOU for the excellent overview!
Last weekend I picked up a 14" to test on my snare and everything you've mentioned is spot on. I'm going to experiment with the resonant heads and probably swap out my clear Ambassador's for the new Ebony Emperor's or Ambassador Ebony. All-n-all though... REMO SilentStroke's are the best solution available for what they are.
I can use a few more of the SilentStroke's you're giving away because I'm going to test them for recording tracks in a townhouse project studio. Just the 10 - 12 - 14 for my toms if you're willing to split the giveaway for 2 lucky ducks :)

Wish Remo did 26" skins however. I hear bubble wrap can mute ..

I would really like these heads because I don't get much time to play the drums now. I have a baby brother and he's asleep when I can get the time to play. And my parents are always yelling at me to stop playing because its too loud and starts to annoy them. This would give me new time to practice, especially since I've been trying to form a band with some friends. And playing punk and rock doesn't usually include playing soft so these would be a big help in me being able to practice more

I am so glad that you did a video for these amazing heads! I seen them in another video you did recently and I have been wondering what they sound like. Now I do. And WHOA! those cymbals were extremely loud, compared to your drumming lol These are incredible, just like you! Anyways, I would love to have these b/c I live in an upstairs apartment and I can only play at certain times, it sucks so bad. I wanna play all day, every day. They would be make me as happy as when I watch you play. Haha. I started drums b/c of you, help me out Coop :-D

I'd love the heads; i have neighbors, and they aren't the most appreciative when it comes to the noise. My family also isn't exactly excited when i play either, just because my set is in my room, and it isn't the most soundproof place. Great video though! I think i'm going to invest in these sooner or later, thanks for showing me them!

Hey Coop3r! Hopefully you see this comment for a few reasons; I'd just like to let you know that you're a massive inspiration, not only because you're very talented and knowledgeable, but as well as the fact you have shown in so many of your videos how awesome of a feeling drumming can make you feel, and how powerful it can be! I myself hardly get to play my set due to most people; I go to college three days a week, I'm starting to learn to drive and I work thirty or so hours a week. My drum set is outside in a not so very well sound proofed shed (basically, the walls are lined with cardboard, bubble wrap and duvets). My neighbours work on nightshift every third-fourth week ect so I of course, like most people have a limited time slot to play my drums. Due to inevitability of annoyed neighbours, I get to play them at most for half an hour for *if I'm lucky* three days out of the week (as I'm not allowed to play them on weekends). There are so many more people out there who deserve this more and I guess that I should be lucky enough to even have the chance to own a drum set, but I guess that I'd take every opportunity to play them if possible.
Even if I'm not lucky enough to get these drum heads, I'd like to thank you for taking the time to read this message, and for producing your video which inspire many people!
I'd also love it if you could make a few videos on either battling and overcoming noise complaints/sound proof if that's possible and also, many of your fans -like myself- would love to see some more Avenged Sevenfold and KoRn songs! I'd also love to see you play some Metallica and Paramore songs, and even give some Slipknot songs a bash!;)
    Thank you once again
    - A single fan among many!

I bought them last week, i’m putting some ductape on the heads to have a little bit more sound. Even for my snare as kicks and all the toms, its by far not the sound what i have normally but i can every time a day practicing, and thats for me at the moment most important!

Hey Casey, theses drum heads would really help me with my drumming. I have been playing drums a few months now and I have a kit, but because I live in a busy street I have had complaints from the neighbours about the noise coming from the drums so I have had to stop practising as much at home and start practising more at school where I don't bother as many people. I would love to get more time to practise on my own kit and not bother people with the noise. Thanks for reading!

Awesome product and video! I definitely could use them because there's always so much traffic flowing through my house that I am unable to play as much as I would like. Also, I can't play my kit at night when my niece is asleep and also when the neighbors complain, haha.

These would be a perfect solution for me. My brother recently had a child so I have to be careful when I play since she sleeps every few hours or she just get's fussy when things are loud. These would solve that problem perfectly for me. It would also be an honor to have drum heads that you have used :D.

I live in Germany where sound curfew is pretty well-expected. Practicing was impossible.
I got a set of silent stroke heads for the 5-piece (although its setup as a 4-piece jazz combo) and the L80 cymbal pack. I can get away with playing at 4am if I'm merciful.
Hours of practicing is now allowed! No complains; sometimes people can't even tell it's happening. I recommend this to everyone on the planet
practicing like 2 hours of the same song on repeat, uptempo jazz swing. I was almost offended no one complained! ;)

Hey love your videos and your covers! I would like to have these heads on my kit because I live with my parents and my sister. As you said drums are loud and I usually only practice when they're not at home. Which is pretty rare. I am love drumming but I don't see a lot of improvement because I don't get many opportunities to practice. Anyway keep on rocking, thanks for the awesome videos!

I've just moved to long island, my neighbors aren't used to drums, i live in a neighborhood full of elderly and i really haven't been able to touch my mapex mydentity kit that i've spent $2000 for my graduation gift, and i really want nothing more than to practice drums, especially since i've just been accepted into nassau community college's music major and i need to practice, sadly i have no money to purchase new mutes or these awesome drum heads because financial aid doesn't full cover me! but great video, love your stuff, as always, keep rockin man

Hey Casey! First of all, I really like your vids. You are incredible!
I'd love to have those drum heads because everytime I play drums, my neighbour tells me to stop playing or to play more quiet. The problem is I just can't play as silent as he wants me to play.
I had an electronic kit once but I didn't like the feel of it. It had way to much rebound.
So maybe I am lucky and can get those drum heads so I can play drums without disturbing my neighbour! :P

I am a young drummer, and only been playing for a year now, but I have been completely succumbed to the drums from the second I sat down at a kit, but I can't ever practice for much for than half an hour during the week because of the constant complaints from both my siblings upstairs and the neighbours, but I'm always looking for ways to improve myself, and I spend a majority of that down time watching and learning from your videos. I really would love to get the heads because the practice pads and mesh overlays feel too rubbery and don't react in any way the same as my kit, but I'd like a quieter way to spend my time practicing, in hopes to be a little more like you one day. :)

Well, Casey you're an awesome drummer and person and your channel has helped me unbelievably.
I'd need those heads for these reasons:
My Family hates my drumming.. they hate the pounding of them and the sound and vibration coming from the basement, so I am restricted to only 25 minutes a day of practice and play. Which is slowing me down tremendously. I started drumming a couple years ago and I haven't gotten the practice and play time that a drummer needs to progress. I love music and love playing and I hate being restricted from something I have so much love and passion for. Also my Friends love to jam with me, but we can only have fun for so much time(half an hour at most.) And I hate moving my drum-set to someone else's house to annoy their parents and have the struggle Ext.
Honestly you have helped me a ton already but I'll have a more productive, fun, musical future if I receive these. Thanks man. You're a great help, let alone a musician and person in all.

Hey Casey, having just turned 16 I'm fed up with my electric set. The pads feel nothing like the real thing and the sound of striking the hi-hat often drowns out the amp itself. I've been saving for an acoustic kit for a while, and I've almost got enough, but the only problem is that my neigbour works night-shifts as a police officer. I don't want to disturb him during the day, as his job is obviously very important; when I saw this video it seemed like the perfect solution!
    Thanks, Matt
