I think her plan was to kill the person most able to continue the Golden Order amongst the demigods since her plan seems to be against it and the Outer Will
there's some comment out there explaining that godwyn was chosen basically just because he was the most convenient to kill, so it was nothing personal, ranni just had her own motives. it's possible ranni didn't even choose godwyn herself, the assassination was just carried out with the goal of killing any demigod.
The Black Knifes assassins were given the dagger made from death. Which was one of the two made from death and can only be used once. They were going to kill Marika. Unfortunately Godwyn was clapping his moms cheeks and was chilling in her room while she was bathing. The Black knifes assassins thought he was her and jumped him only to realize that it was him afterwards. Marika enters the room and screams. Alerting the guards who came and drove them away. The Black Knife would then try to steal the Death dagger that Ranni had to try to kill Marika. We see this during one of the trailers where Ranni is being chased.
Mohg was stuck in a concentration camp and erased from the history books, as typical for the Golden Order and the things they don’t tolerate. Ranni probably didn’t know he existed. Also, Godwyn was the poster child for Marika’s fascist and xenophobic theocracy so he’d be a prime target.
Godwyn, Radahn and Miquella were the best of demi-gods. Godwyn as the king, Radahn as commander of kingdom's army and Miquella as ther governor would be a dream for any kingdom.
The Lands Between was already a messed up place, especially the Golden Order. They literally have a concentration camp underneath their capital city for the undesirables, and they established themselves through the near genocide of the Fire Giants.
Godwyn was one of very few demigods that wasn't so despicable and was actually a nice being. Unfortunate that he had to die for Rannis plan to free the Lands between of the Greater Will and oppression.
Please give to the unfortunate the homeless the strays the mentaly disabled atleadt give them a good meal water and a goody bag filled with stuff they need a toothbrush toothpaste soap socks hand sanitizer tissues etc we can change the world god bless
Wasn’t it Queen Marika who allowed the stealing of the rune so that the black knife assassins (female Numen who were close to Marika) can permanently kill Godwyn. Ranni just took the other half to kill her mortal coil.
Could be but ranni admits to being the one who stole the rune and forged it into the black knives that were used to kill him. The line could also be referring to the fact that the black knives gained marika's trust partially by being numen
@@rinayasi if that were true then why would she go through the hassle of having black knife assassins steal the rune of death instead of just asking for it. Keep in mind that Maliketh is her shadow bound beast, so he follows her every whim like how she wanted him to seal away destined death in the first place. It just makes no sense, which is why I think this fan theory is a bunch of hogwash.
I don't like her at all. She's done horrible things just like the other demigods but oh, don't get me started as she was the one who instigated the shattering.

@@Envoxity maybe read Japanese translations. Lore was kinda butchered in English version, which is a big reason why people don't get Ranni. She was actually the one trying to fight for the freedom of people in lands between. Before her, all the souls were trapped in the lands between, just to play a puppet show for Elden beast/erdtree. Trapped for all eternity, to play the part in that show. Anyone who didn't toe the line like the fire giants were eradicated. Ranni was fighting for the only good ending freedom from the rule of the outer god.
@@Envoxity Causes of war. The Golden Order took her mother to madness, and she acted back. It ended up destroying the Lands Between, but I don't think she cared much
Godwyn and his brothers are the most decent peole of the familiy tree because they had a great father. The others just had a crappy dude that was either never around or just in the moments when their mother wasn't there.
so godwyn is a tragic hero in a Shakespeare's play, just like hamlet and macbeth. their glory and heroism taken away by something so maliciously merciless... and it turned them into one.
The more these things pop up the more I realize you and most people don’t actually know the lore behind the night of Black knives. Ranni never sent the Black Knives after Godwyn. She did what she had to in order to restore the natural order of the world which MARIKA interrupted. The black knives chose Godwyn on their own, and Ranni sacrificed herself both so she wouldn’t be a slave to the Greater Will, and so the rest of the pawns in the lands between(literally everyone you guys seem to like more than Ranni for some laughable reason 😂) could live freely. Godwyn didn’t even have a real destiny since he wasn’t an Empyrean.
@@drpepp. The game itself and lore videos probably. I know that what he's saying is at least partially true because I recognize the freeing people's fate from the outer will part. In fact I can add that the reason she needs radan dead is because he halts the stars which stops fate from happening or some weird mess. Her whole deal is separation from the outer gods. In the new dlc you learn that the fingers actually aren't even getting their information from the outer gods anyway which is why Marika is misguided and you also learn why Marika is kind of a monster to other races, she goes through some hell of her own.
Godwyns Story might not end here. Depending on Miquellas Plans he may come back. And I would also be interested in Rannis reasoning to murder Godwyn in particular.
I still think that the only and main reason why Ranni even targetted Godwyn in the first place was because of how capabable he was in stopping her plan all his accomplishments proves that dude was probably the strongest out of all Radagon, marikas children excepct Messmer that's another rabbit hole.
I like to see him as a sort of Balder Figure in the whole Marika bloodline. Micky might fit the personality far better, but in impact and actions Balder was the, so to speak, holly branch to break the camels back which led to the shattering.
I'm still holding out hope that we'll get SOME sort of boss battle against him in the future. I was hoping for some Miquella DLC, and look what's on the horizon :P
The funny thing which I think is intended, is that it shows me that the woman killed the ideal man for the world “Gadwyn the Golden” He was loved by everyone and a good person compared to all his brothers
Its super hard to ignore the inspirations from Norse myth in this game. The world tree, the god-devouring serpent, and in this case, a universally-beloved God whose death causes a war that will destroy the world.
To be fair....Ranni wasn't the only one responsible. Rykard was also involved and given the connection between the Black Knives and Marika, even she could have helped kill her own son.
Ranni didnt assassinate Godwyn. Ranni used it on herself. Her soul never died either. Marika beset her dark knights on Godwyn. Why she would kill her own son, I'm not too sure.
I dont know if lore stops this theory or not, but i believe Godwyn was the next in line to become ethier elden lord or replace his mother as keeper of the elden ring. He was the literal golden child of the family, he was the first born, a great leader and even better warrior. He would have continued the golden order for another age under the two fingers guidance. Ranni didnt want this cause she wanted to bring the age of stars and remove all outer gods influance on the world, so she had to remove Godwyn somehow. This ritual using the rune of death was probably the only way to really kill him since he was probably one of the strongest demi gods to live
I don't think the Elden Ring is inherited through bloodlines in the way you are thinking. Any of the Emperayons were technically candidates to become gods and Marika didn't care which of her children did what so long as they made something of themselves. Godwyn was great for sure but that didn't make him any more qualified than Miquella or Malenia. The issue is that the Golden Order was never perfect and no one understood it as a whole completely not even Marika. While what Ranni did was cruel, i believe she was the only child of Radagon(was is still Marika) who thought to do something for herself instead of following some path set before her. Rykard was corrupted, Radahn followed the Golden Order, Miquella was trying to cure Malenia and couldn't with thr Golden Order, Malenia only wanted to protect Miquella, none of the omen cursed kids could even walk the surface and all were either fighting for their parents attention or subject to the will of outer gods. Personally I think she was the only one who cared to let the world exist on its own
Marika not only did worse things but likely knew and approved of rannis plan to kill her son marika is the antagonist ranni is a co conspirator at best
Ok. I somewhat agree with this, but I'll try for the fun of it A. Radahn Held the stars which caused astrologers to lose their fate and stopped the return of Godwyn Doesn't care about his family one bit (Took her sister's destiny, his step brother's return, and the dynasty of his other step brother for fame) Absolutely tortures his horse (Idc that Radahn is paperweight, have you seen Lenoard's body mass? He hasn't eaten in few thousand years) C. Dung Eater (No explanation needed) D. Fia Supports the undead dominance Want to bring back the cursed Godwyn Kills D and anyone who follows the Order E. @@Joha733her quest is a big part of the game for the first time but now i dont really like ranni
The foundations of the Golden Order were messed up too according to the DLC. Every new age has to have some f'ed up stuff happen.
The Lands Between was already a messed up place, especially the Golden Order. They literally have a concentration camp underneath their capital city for the undesirables, and they established themselves through the near genocide of the Fire Giants.
@@Mario-SunshineGalaxy64 My poor boys Morgott and Mohg
Those who live in death exist not because of Godwyn, but because Marika that denied the death rune from the elden ring
He actually sounds like a pretty cool guy to be around
Vyke doing the I trained a dragon meme
Godwyn was one of very few demigods that wasn't so despicable and was actually a nice being. Unfortunate that he had to die for Rannis plan to free the Lands between of the Greater Will and oppression.
Cool video love the humour
Justice for Godwyn.
That’s not confirmed, it’s only just headcanon.
@@Doommarine-sr8y I dont think marika ordered the death of godwyn. Ranni straight up admits to being the one who stole the fragment of destined death.
@@rinayasibut she did it to kill herself. We dont know how much she knew about Godwyn case
This is why Ranni is a certified number 1 op
I don't like her at all. She's done horrible things just like the other demigods but oh, don't get me started as she was the one who instigated the shattering.
@@Envoxityi feel like even if she never did anything someone else would have especially since the revear a space parasite as I've seen a few lore channels do research on the two fingers an after they die they turn to wood an looking closely at the tree,it looks like the golden part is growing out if the tree like a fungus
@@Envoxity
Causes of war. The Golden Order took her mother to madness, and she acted back. It ended up destroying the Lands Between, but I don't think she cared much
@@Envoxity no she didn't. Marika did
And his very friend tries fighting the death but only ended up corrupting himself losing his mind
Marika's sanity shattered along with the killing of Godwyn because he was her only perfect child
Ok, that closeup of his eyw goes insanely hard
Godwyn doesn't lose
I'm pissed we never get to meet healthy non-fish Godwyn. He seemed very cool.
Any Source?
She might now have specified him. But if she did, it was probably because he was pretty literally the Golden Child.
brotha give us long form content you got a chill voice
It took me like a year to figure out that giant fish creature was Godwyn, I spent days just googling but no one would tell me.
He is like Balder, his death start everything
And if it weren’t for the death of Godwyn, the shattering would never have happened. That’s how I remember it going down.
So Godwyn followed the teachings of Sensei Wu.
“The best way to defeat your enemy is to make them your friend.”
Cant wait for the DLC to reveal (hopefully) If Ranni is the bad guy pretending or if she just did what was necessary.
I need to see an actual family/relationship tree for everyone
The greater will when it sees a decent dude:
Its kinda cool that tiche got the finishing blow
Are WE the badguys??
I feel like if they do another DLC they’ll definitely touch on Godwyn on this one
There wont be another one sadly
Godwyn would of been a better fight than Godfrey, change my mind
Yea, I seriously doubt theirs not more to this story.
It's because of everything he's been through that I will always choose your final. Godwyn was the best demi-god in the universe of Elden Ring.
ranni lowkey an opp for doing that to my boy godwyn 😔🙏
I still think that the only and main reason why Ranni even targetted Godwyn in the first place was because of how capabable he was in stopping her plan all his accomplishments proves that dude was probably the strongest out of all Radagon, marikas children excepct Messmer that's another rabbit hole.
The more I learn elden ring lore the more I realize this is all Ranni's fault. She literally caused 90% of this crap we have to fight through 🙃
@@MiiMagus93 …. Until you play the dlc and realize Ranni is only a raindrop in a sea of drama. Lol

Godwyn and fortissax were just “friends” guys.
We need godwyn as a boss as a corrupted version of himself. And have more deathblight weapons and incantations
My favorite character in the game. Such a shame he didn't make an appearance as a boss in the DLC
You know, I was wondering where Fromsoft's classic "That's actually a boy" went in base Elden Ring.
As someone who just earlier from today learned who Vyke is, I found this funny👍
The funny thing which I think is intended, is that it shows me that the woman killed the ideal man for the world “Gadwyn the Golden” He was loved by everyone and a good person compared to all his brothers
Would have loved to see Godwyn in shadow of the erdtree. I was really expecting more of him
Godwyn and Miquella seem like chill dudes, the only gods that don't deserve to die. We'll see if Miquella dies in the DLC.
Malenia seems like good peoples too, to the point it's annoying you can't just tell her where Miquella is and bypass hostility.
One of these days, I'm gonna beat this game.
Its super hard to ignore the inspirations from Norse myth in this game. The world tree, the god-devouring serpent, and in this case, a universally-beloved God whose death causes a war that will destroy the world.
Also side note this song goes hard af 😂
To be fair....Ranni wasn't the only one responsible. Rykard was also involved and given the connection between the Black Knives and Marika, even she could have helped kill her own son.
Godwyn got shafted in the DLC
That's why when you hit Godwyns body in secret area of Godricks castle you can see blood splashes.
The only demigod i feel bad for
Ranni didnt assassinate Godwyn. Ranni used it on herself. Her soul never died either. Marika beset her dark knights on Godwyn. Why she would kill her own son, I'm not too sure.
and Fia tried to ressurect him... D had other plans though
The true kind soul of the lands between, fuck "kindly" miquella
Okay, but hear me out: in Ranni's defense, she's pretty cute.
Personally I think she was the only one who cared to let the world exist on its own
Ranni is the antagonist, change my mind.
Marika not only did worse things but likely knew and approved of rannis plan to kill her son marika is the antagonist ranni is a co conspirator at best
Ok. I somewhat agree with this, but I'll try for the fun of it
A. Marika
Drove a species into extinction just because they made a cool sword (Fire giants and Sword of Night and Flame)
Erased death from the world
Banished Godfrey and his men just because they weren't gold enough
Absolutely destroyed the Carians by giving their queen stage 4 depression
Shattered the Elden Ring
B. Radahn
Held the stars which caused astrologers to lose their fate and stopped the return of Godwyn
Doesn't care about his family one bit (Took her sister's destiny, his step brother's return, and the dynasty of his other step brother for fame)
Absolutely tortures his horse (Idc that Radahn is paperweight, have you seen Lenoard's body mass? He hasn't eaten in few thousand years)
C. Dung Eater (No explanation needed)
D. Fia
Supports the undead dominance
Want to bring back the cursed Godwyn
Kills D and anyone who follows the Order
E. Shabriri
Literally the imbodiness of chaos
Just wants to see the world burn
Gaslighted merchants into heresy to bring the three fingers into existance, which led to them being incaged in madness for thousands of years
F. The Greater Will
Dominated a perfectly normal world
Basically caused the every problem the Lands Between went through
Literally racist against albunarics, fire giants, the dead, and omens.
Hates animals (Wtf)
Finally, literally made an entire land into living hell and told us to fix it millions of years later. Bruh.
@@redbirb1571 The Greater Will isn't racist, the Golden Order is responsible for that shit. The Greater Will only gives a shit if there's an Order in the Lands Between, and not much else beyond that.
