You seem like a nice couple. I'm a Texan, I live about 80 miles east of Houston, I have family who live in Katy and it's a really good suburb. I love my country and my state, but I have to tell you, Texas is HOT for most of the year. It's extremely humid year round esp. the Houston area. The only way so many people have been able to tolerate it is air conditioning and it's really expensive. Climate change has really started to change Texas, it's extremely hot as I said but also Katy and where I live are in an ongoing and what looks to be a permanent drought. Our plant life is dying off. The politics in Texas is very very far right when most of us really are more down the middle. It makes no difference our politicians seem to leave us unrepresented. Nationally we are in a mess too with 2 parties both of which are a real mess, both unwilling to listen to the people who are mostly middle ground. We have no health care. You will be at the mercy of your employer or what you can find through Obamacare. DON'T GET SICK HERE BELIEVE ME, I'M TRYING TO RECOVER FROM CANCER, THIS IS NO PLACE TO BE SICK FOR THE MIDDLE AND LOWER MIDDLE CLASS. The top 3 percent and the most poor seem to get by well with medical coverage. We seem to make more money but everything here has always been very expensive so you won't notice as big a difference as you might think in your next position here. Think hard my friend, it literally hurts to say it but America and Texas just aren't what they once were and you need to make yourself aware before this goes down the track of permanency for you two.
Fly in to Mexico and walk through the border, and you'll get free rent, food, and a monthly check. JK, I appreciate you doing it the right way and am really happy to have you.
Congratulations, Texas law says drivers license must be changed an Out of State Driver License to Texas. New Texas residents can legally drive with a valid, unexpired driver license from another U.S. state, U.S. territory, Canadian province, or qualifying country for up to 90 days after moving to Texas
That was the first thing that came to my mind when he mentioned that his UK license was just renewed. At least Texas is a bit more lenient than Pennsylvania is about this. I had 60 days to get a PA license after moving back here from Florida. I would imagine that all 50 states have similar requirements.
@@jeff-hg8je I think that must be the shortest one in the country, lol! And, yes, the states all do their own thing. Keeps life interesting here in the US.
Why would you ever want to live here? The weather is always bad , the homeless are everywhere, the roads and drivers are terrible. Statistics are showing that more people move out of the state than move in. Prices are high across the board. I’d get out if I could but it looks like I’m stuck here a couple more years. Save yourself.
Can I PLEASE take your place in the UK?? I'd like my family to be able to have healthcare if they lose their job, and I don't want them to be under constant threat of gun violence every single day.
Go ahead, you’ll wait 12 months for a referral to a specialist under the NHS! You’ll pay minimum £300 a month of national insurance for the right to use it, and there are about 10 stabbings a day in London Birmingham and Manchester… Moped gangs use machetes to cut off the hands of people wearing nice watches, and we as law abiding citizens have no way to defend ourselves.
@@MikeysAmericanDream Tks for this! So many (you can tell are likely liberal) here complain about how "terrible" everything is where they live, and especially complain about the U.S. in general. They don't realize that just about everywhere has their own problems, and many FAR worse than in the U.S. So many here complain about guns and gun control, not even realizing that taking guns away from citizens will NOT prevent crime, but will actually ADD to it, as criminals will no longer have to worry about a house being armed and protecting itself. They'll simply waltz right in!
Hope you enjoy your time here!
Especially in my home state of Texas.
We're happy to have ya! :D
