As far as I know, Jackie is the only well known comedian who laughs hysterically at his own jokes, and in this respect, I have to give him my respect. Does anyone know any other comedian who comes close to this?
Artie laughed at his own jokes too. Yeah, not quite like Jackie but it's annoying nonetheless. Artie's stand ups are painful to watch. If you like the same stories and drug references; then you'd love it " Crystal meth is a good drug. When you wanna walk to ST. Louis some weekend" That joke was never funny. But yet Artie used it all the time. His act has always been the same shit. Artie was playing banquet halls around the time right before his nose caved the fuck in. I'm tired of that story too. I don't believe that it as caused by snorting glass from a busted salt shaker while snorting pills. Even if he did snort the glass, that's not what caused the damage. It was from blowing a couple thousand dollars worth of dope and blow up his nose. At least he finally started banging it for Christ sakes. (Hence, the white gloves he'd wear on the AA show)
@@shaneb9120 artie in an entirely diff't 'laughing at himself' class. Not even the same ballpark as Jackie. Jackie's is borderline annoying - but somehow not quite bona fide annoying. And I disagree - Artie's stories are always good and he's a national treasure in my eyes. Not on Norm level, but who could be on Norm's level?

I wasnt into him on the stern show but i find myself trying to mimic these short quick punchline jokes because that are funny. To me at least. Theyre like those old dirty jokes you heard growing up but never knew where they came from.

I'm in shock - Howard fairly recently mentioned Jackie's career suicide again. I always assumed that when Howard started earning $20 million a year, that Jackie's annual show salary was $3 to $4 million, and so, leaving the show was indeed career murder. That Jackie was being paid less than $600,000 a year (regardless of what he earned, because of the show, away from the show) is utterly shocking. Yes, it was Howard's particular genius that essentially created the on-air Jackie the Joke-man character that we all loved, but who cares. Jackie's correct - Howard is a cheap bastard, and its primarily this character flaw that largely ruined the show all these years.
