Love the idea of a screen porch. Ember would have a place to play and that will help Jaylena from worrying about her she was outside. You both are doing an awesome job of cleaning it up. It’s looking good thanks for sharing.
I love this idea too. Jaylena could still be working in the kitchen while she plays in the screen in porch. Plus, she is getting fresh air to make her tired so she sleeps well. Just add some latches/locks on the doors so she can't get out.

You know busses I know houses. After looking at your video I see a few easy issues to repair.
1st you have a lot of water coming from the side of that hill. That water will hit that curb and go under the treated 2x. I would remove at least 6” of soil from the bottom edge of the actual concrete curb. That water needs to have a place to go. 2nd I would apply a urethane sealant between the curb and that 2x. Making sure you clean it good 1st like I know you would. Then I would apply a good exterior wood and concrete primer to the top portion and curb and the 2x and at least a few inches up the wall. Next I would use a product like an elastomeric paint. Over the curb the 2x and at least a few inches up the wall.
I would also suggest to check your gutters and downspouts to make sure you have no obstructions.
I would see how that goes before I wasted time and money doing other things. If the issue was with your shingles you would see water spots on the ceiling. you only have it along the wall. i know this is long but its hard to explain in a message

That big hill behind house looks like it could be causing water damage. Maybe there is some type of drain pipe across it. If not might considerdigging a narrow trench across the bittom and put corregated tile across it to drain runoff before it gets to the house. For now I would just leave the walls the way they are and not insulate to let everything dry and air out. If you take walls down and put screen up, you may get a lot of water coming in. Have a builder or other professional look at it. Might save you future headaches and expense.
He needs a French drain to divert it around the house.

Lots of progress on the property and the van. Btw, we had an inspector to help us determine what needed to be done most or first on a home repair project. It saved us a lot of headaches, and home inspectors don’t have to cost a lot of money. Just a thought. ✌️❤️🛠️

Be careful when u screen the porch bc if the bottom of the porch doesn't have proper run off it could cause major flooding and damage and leach into your home.. Trust me my moms house had runoff issues and got major damage 🫣

With the low pitch of your roof have you thought about a metal roof? it would be stronger, easier to keep clean, less apt to catch on fire. Your insurance could be less expensive too. The roof would cost more, but you can do it yourself.

The thing is even with a new build there are a lot of projects some can be expensive to get a home to where you as individuals want it. Making it YOUR home. Before you know it you will fall in love with your home all over again. ✌️

They are domestic pets, it's our job to shelter them, feed them, vet them and protect them, they look to their humans for all their needs, includingprotectionfrom predators. You seem like a reasonable guy. Wait til you get the screening done, where they can be out there safely. They're good kitties and they trust y'all. Busyroads and Aerial predators, not safe.

I believe it was a big deal to Jaylena to get shore power electric on the van. Not to mention bed accomodations in place. Cleaning up the yard and going to the dump is never ending at this point. I thought you did a lot and it was much improved. Thanks for the share.
I think I would already consider that back room a screened in porch! You Just need to finish getting all the old wood and stuff out of it that has collected mold and get that old fireplace out of there. Then rebuild the roof over that room. Then keep the windows open at all times and wala you have a screen porch!

I think a screened in porch is a great idea! A place you can entertain and ember can play. Way back in the day they called them sleeper porches....a place you could nap and even sleep overnight! I remember the sleeper porch when I was young at my grandparents lake house, that everyone wanted to sleep on. Even had a swing! Sweet memories!! ❤😊

Your windows are pretty big, I don't think you need to take walls out. Just fix closet area and the outside issue around it. That's where the dampness and mold was causing problems? But if you take walls out then might need coverage for screens in winter?

Here is an idea to extend the time to use the screen in porch. I used it on an outdoor shelter for my folks. Put 1/4" coated aircraft cable on the outside over the screened areas. Then you can zip tie tarps on it to cover the screens to block the wind and such. It will also help with the heating of the house in the winter somewhat. You will have to secure the bottom of the tarps also with maybe a piece of wood ziptied and staked down. Pretty cheap also. Harbor frieght is youkr friend here. And if you keep the fireplace, you definitely could put a little heat in there to let you use it into the fall.
